It's interesting that some people get motivatef by competition. Whenever I have competition it just discourages me. Like " they are way better why should I bother"

I was like that a few years ago. It really sucks the energy and fun out of learning art. I was discouraged a lot (I think it contributed to my depression at the time) and didn't think I could get better but I basically turned that discouragement into spite...and i used that spite to improve. 😅 Once I got through that period in my life (lasted 2 years-ish if I'm remembering right) things got a lot better mentally and competition became fun again. All you have to do is keep going even if it feels like you're dragging your feet in the mud. You'll get out of it eventually even if it takes a while. I don't really have advice other than to persevere- wishing you the best on your journey :)

Actually they have now discord groups since October 2022 or so with drawing jams, demo lessons and portfolio reviews 😊 plus they encourage you to hashtag your homeworks- that’s how I met other students from Schoolism.

Sad she never responded to this but I think she needs more of a real time experience, I can honestly say she’s right it’s better to be social in real life groups etc especially if you’re less of an introvert.

I know you commented on my other video but I'll reply here too! Honestly the class you choose depends on what you want to learn, for example if you really want to do background painting Nathan Fowkes is really good. If you want to do vis dev Chrystin Garland is good. If you want to do concept art Airi Pan's course is good. :)

Cool vid! I think your video sketches have gotten better too, just out of curiosity have you taken/considered taking classes at Concept design academy? I was checking them out to start learning(I'm fairly new to art tryna figure this online learning thing out too) and I noticed they had some storyboard/animation stuff that might be right up your alley. Also just a heads up you might wanna leave the links to your socials in the description, just one less step for people interested ;D.

Hi! Thank you for the kind words! I've only briefly heard of Concept Design Academy. But it seems extremely similar to Brainstorm and definitely up my alley! I'm def going to consider taking classes from there 👀 thank you for letting me know about it. (also you're totally right, I should put my socials in the description) 😂

@@sirap6028 I think Brainstorm is more geared towards concept art/design while CDA is more animation/viz dev related, its why I mentioned it, don't take my word for it though I'm still relatively new but I think both are great, just for different things.

@@sirap6028 the hardcore fundamentals what makes you understand the tutorials. So how much fundamentals in terms of percentages is there?
@sirap60282 жыл бұрын
@@riccia888 Ah i see what you're saying. Imo 90% of schoolism goes over the painting fundamentals - lighting/value/composition/color. You have a point- they don't really go over perspective /anatomy/form. I didn't think about that! I'll have to make another video.
