It just absolutely numbs you out, which is nice sometimes, but means there are no lows and def no highs. It will def be worth it, life is about ups and downs, emotions and dealing with them. Feeling proud about how you deal with them, after all the shit is over with atleast. I've been tested don't worry, but you get a good sleep in, and it all seems easier to cope with. All the best!

I feel like im where you were. I've been smoking 12 to 13 years, and I'm pretty much blazed through my 20s. Just turned 30 this year. It has been a difficult task for me as i am prone to saying I'll quit, but I've been saying it for years. I'm hoping i figure it out soon. I look forward to the dreams being a lucid dreamer. i feel like weed and my old self unified, creating a powerful final boss i must face in order to start achieving my dream. I truly believe the key to that is within my dream world. Conquer that, and the rest of the bad tendencies will fall as well. Well, in theory. I've gotten to the point where there's only one thing to do and that's find out if im right or not.

Day 1 here. Again. Turned 32 today and not looking back. Agreed with all you said. Weed is not even close to as safe as ppl say it is. Following your heart is also hard when it's dark. Sobriety brings joy and for someone who also has been smoking for 14 years straight...I've been without true joy this whole time. It is the root cause of so many problems that branch off from it.

Wow!!! I have had that same worry; if someone close to me died while I was still having weed, I'd feel very little (even when not acutely high). I think I lost my ability to cry (and laugh too to a large extent even while high). I am on day 3 of quitting. It's rough, but I think it will be worth it to feel again. Also I only ever had weed in the evenings, but I think the stuff affects me for at least a week afterwards. I think the weekend smoker thing is mostly a myth (unless you want to spend your workweek in withdrawal every week--in which case it is still affecting you). Kicked alcohol a couple years ago and thought I could be happy as a daily stoner. It keeps the alcohol away, but now I am a recluse that overeats and doesn't exercise and has no interests in life. Definitely making the right decision dropping the weed. Joining AA (they handle fixing weed addiction too); going to try to fall in love with God, friends, family, hobbies and life in general. The stoner life is fun at first, but it gets old and doesn't have much promise. It's basically groundhog day.

I totally understand you, quitting weed after prolonged daily use had made me feel the worst boredom of my life, felt like nothing interesting existed for a few weeks, like absence of soul. Daily use of alcohol gives similar withdrawal. If I ever use it again, it wouldn't be more than once per week, same goes for alcohol.

straight up. i smoked because i thought everything was boring without being high, turns out being high all the time made me bored of everything around me and turned me into a boring person. now i find myself wanting to do all kinds of shit. i bought a lot of stuff i never used. i feel like getting high made me consume/buy a lot of stuff with vague plans to do somehting with it but in the end i sit at home and just smoke, and now i'm pretty shocked how much stuff i amassed that's been never used. at the same time, i have a lot of things to play around with and pass the time.

Two weeks here, medical card holder, I've been smoking for 20 years. I grew up with a lot of trauma and anxiety. What started out with just weekends, turned into wake and bakes. Soon, every minute I wasn't at work I was getting baked. I didn't want to admit that it was the flower giving me anxiety. I could never quit before. I have to quit for this good job I really, really need. So after two weeks now, I decided no more smoking. With it being summer, it helps a lot though. I can do yardwork and go for hikes, and ride my bike. I won't lie, I miss it tremendously because I did all my activities high. I lost who I actually was without it. But, right now, my brain is resetting and it's like, oh yeah this is who I was! I went through this with alcohol, but for a shorter period. Being a drunk just doesn't mesh well with my personality. I like waking up early and going to sleep early, and not feeling total crap. I did that for about a year. Now, I can have one drink every few months or when I am camping, it has zero control over me. I want to get like that with flower. I want to smoke on my camping trips or special occasions, and not feel this total obsession to do it all the time, wake and bake every damn day. I can't believe I made it two whole weeks! It was hell, but it does get better. I was always tired before, always full of anxiety, and always paranoid. I'm not a social person, I would freak in public if I was high and someone spoke to me. I couldn't go to the places I wanted to because the weed made me paranoid. It's so nice to not have that any longer. Now, I just have to deal with friends that smoke. I have been avoiding them for two weeks, because they are all stoners. I find going out for my hikes into the woods helps a lot, and doing photography. The dreams though WOW, I have been having INSANELY VIVID dreams and not good ones, not really nightmares, but situations that are just freaky and weird! I would go to bed at 9 every night, now I just lay there until 1 am. I do take naps during the day and that helps. I've also been off work for two week and I think that helps, not having that stress. I start my new job next week so I hope the stress doesn't get me to start again. But, I like feeling like me again. For 20 years I have just been this numb version of me, waking and baking every day. The point of all this is to tell you people, you can do it! And you might not think you will, but you will feel better. You just need to get over the hump. As for the dreams though, I don't know what to tell ya. You will have really vivid dreams.

I read your whole post and have similar experiences and circumstances to you. I’m approaching the 2 week hump, not for the first time either and it’s getting hard to deal with the insomnia and reprogramming my brain. Should help that i have next week off work in which time i have a bunch of important things to handle in my personal life. For anyone else in this position, the things that are helping the most is being physically active and productive with your time. If you can nap and rest-do it!! Try to be more sociable and practice speaking with other people. Don’t beat yourself up as much I’m keen to know how you are doing now @poorringo 4 weeks in and in a new job… hope it is going well.

Definately wouldn't call myself a martial artist haha but thank you for the comment. I can tell you that last night I slept a solid 8 hours. But the only reason, is because I was genuinely tired. I wanna quit, but last time the dreams were SO vivid and intense, I was waking up exhausted cause I felt like I’d been active, getting chased by people who wanted to kill me or someone close to me, and running a lot in dreams during my whole sleep. To get up and live my waking life after hours of that was exhausting. On top of the exhaustion, the dreams just left me in a weird/dark mood for the day. So, I went back after a month. Quitting definitely has its benefits, but like another person commented, I’m just not ready to face those emotions and dreams that I know will flood me when I stop again. I’ll need to do it during a time I have no obligations, cause I can’t function with the dark feelings and exhaustion.

@sagethomas7651 I've always been prone to insomnia, even before I smoked weed. Quitting weed injected my insomnia with steroids, and due to that I've had very little sleep in over a month; having chronic sleep deprivation doesn't do wonders for your health, aside from the nasty hallucinations. What is so hard to believe? you don't think a drug that alters your brain chemistry doesn't have adverse affects when you stop?

My goal, eventually, after a long period of total abstinence, perhaps use on a sunday night, just once a week, night only.

Day 2 for me today. Needed to quit to get a job. I've smoked for years daily. I don't smoke all day anymore like I used to when I was younger but this is still hard as fuck...ridiculous certain jobs require drug testing. What business is it of theirs what I do off company time off company property? Being a cannabis smoker doesn't define a person's character. I need the job so I am gonna stick with it but more likely than not I will be going back to smoking as soon as I land it.

I had this crazy dream (nightmare) after 2 weeks ish not gonna tell u the whole story just the end. So me and my bro were in a kajak on a river, and all of a sudden there is a tree that has grown over the river with roots going to each side of the edge of it. (River flows trought the roots). So the m9ment we were about to go under the tree a really scary evil face appeared in the tree luke the one from the movie (smile). Then we got onder the tree and sucked into it and then I woke up screaming. But the thing is I wasnt even awake yet. I was in my bed tho, then I saw a shadow on the wall and I felt this evil presence but couldnt move anything. After closing my eyes and begging for help after a couple of seconds I could randomly moce again and I was awake. Anyways I relapsed after 1 month, and now I have to to this shit all over again. Hopefully less scary this time.

About the dream man, they are always a message from our subcounscious mind. Whatever the meaning is, you have the answer inside you. The most important thing is that by quitting weed, you have unlocked that mental portal again; the portal which your subconscious use to communicate with you. Unfortunately, weed obstructs that path of self communication... I think you did the right choice! P.S. I am glad to have found your channel, I'm trying to quit weed and you are relatable and row and quite helps to listen at your insights. I whatched your first days videos of this series and, in comparison, now you look way more vital. (one month late lol)

The real question is, is weed something that you need to totally quit? I can understand reducing, maybe using once a week, once in a while? Does it have to be something that you need to totally rid yourself of? Alcohol is hard enough to quit, and I think we should quit because it's horrible for our bodies and mind. But do we need to quit everything?

About the dream, i once saw my self in bed... Like a POV. Irl i was screaming for some reason. So the person behind the pov (me) told the person in bed (also me) to wake bc I'm screaming... This lasted 10 full minutes until i was able to fully awake and be conscious. This was at my 2 month sober point. Happened like 3 times

#Green I'm on day 4 and it feels great. My body was injured during surgeries long ago. Disabled due to it at 28. Morphine was the doctors method of helping me but it fucked most things up. Now i am 37, and i stopped everything but clonidine(idk why it works). When I was on the meds I was having kidney failure 4-7 times a year and was in the hospital 20-30 days a year due to it. Now that i refuse to take 'their' drugs since covid started, i have not had kidney failure for 3 whole years. My life might be given back to me because I chose to go against my multiple doctors' wishes. Green was for my pain management but the fog is too thick. I'll take the pain over the fog.

Jesus, sounds as if modern medicine just isn't it. Really interesting to hear you feel as though the fog is just too much from weed even though it numbs the pain somewhat. That's a powerful statement, brings light to the negatives of weed for sure. All the best mate.

Do you understand what you just said ? You’ve only smoked once or twice a week. You’re obviously not going to have the same effects of someone who smokes every single day 🤦🏾‍♂️. I smoked everyday sometimes for 3-4 times a day and today marks 17 days sober for and I can surely tell you my memory, sleep, drive, positive habits energy has drastically improved. Your body is completely different from everyone else’s so to say people are full of crap because they’ve experienced life changes is just close minded.

Unless you've been doing a lot of other substances - alc. coke, smack, X, etc. for a long period of time, the anhedonia will resolve assuming no underlying mental health issues. Most of us started using substances to self-medicate for some underlying condition - depression, anxiety is pretty common.
