I’m quitting trucking and leaving sweet express for good on 6/3/24! I am still very happy with sweet even through the hardships over the last 1.5 years. I have you and them to thank for helping me tie up some loose ends in my truck driving career of 12 years but on 6/3 I’m walking away from the trucking industry all together. I’m just done with the bs. It’s not for me anymore. And yes all the office staff and mechanics and upper management have been awesome and still are.
@kennypascoe47523 ай бұрын
Yes I’m one of your referrals btw.
@freshwhiteteee3 ай бұрын
That’s awesome! And with how things are anymore in this industry, I don’t blame ya. In the video i mentioned trying to peruse other opportunity’s elsewhere & applied for multiple different things, but had no luck. I wanted to be a remote driver recruiter and work from home, i applied to be a manager at a car wash local and make like $28 an hour since i have years of experience detailing and and mechanically inclined. I even tried to be a CDL instructor for like $63k a year but didn’t get selected for that either. Might have to re visit some of these things when the economy gets better.

Hey I’ve been waiting for you to post an updated video! I’ve been following you since I started at Sweet. Me and Austin were in the same orientation class. I literally have nothing bad to say at all about Sweet. All companies have to adjust to stay afloat, but it was just too many changes and it basically forced my hand to explore other options and my last day there was May 1st. I was also regional and when they dissolved the regional lanes it was the beginning of the end for me. I started trying to find something local at that point (Mobile AL) and it was hard by me being a SAP driver, but finally I was blessed with a local route with another company and so far I’m loving it. Just like Austin my pay was cut as well and we talked and decided that our tenure at Sweet was surely coming to an end. Good luck to you bro. Thanks for all the videos you post. I’m a huge fan and enjoy living in the south!

Wired! I’ve heard lots about you! You live down there near the gulf as well. I know you guys were running those GM loads down to Brandon forever. Have you looked into where Austin is at now? Seems like a good dig if you wanted to stay regional or whatever. I’m glad to see you’ve found something local and enjoying. There just isn’t much around when you’re trying to be a trucker and you have in SAP/ or have a DUI like me. Fortunately its been over 5 years for me so im open to a lot more options now, and I’ll have more updates on that soon! Stay in touch, im trying to be more routine on here

You should’ve went to Crete Carriers instead of smith. They have better equipment, pay,benefits and dedicated stuff. No broker freight only customer freight.
@freshwhiteteeeАй бұрын
i looked into crete, and was interested. however smith also exclusively does on dedicated customer freight, zero broker stuff. the reason i didn’t go is i have a 5 year old DUI and i needed 6 more months to be fully past the conviction date to be eligible for hire. maybe in the future!

Going through this right now. I live in PA but regional with a company that doesn't do loads in my state. Trying to get home is always a problem. Got a new dm after my last 34hr reset and this dude has me running stupid loads at night. I'm talking driving to the shipper just to pick up a load for someone else. Wasting my clock. I went from a local to a regional job because of a stupid accident that someone else caused. Basically he slipped behind me after checking behind me and couldn't see him in my mirror while docking.

Hey man how is the road test n do they really make u do a full pre trip?
@freshwhiteteeeАй бұрын
man it’s been so long since i was there. i have no idea if sweet changed the process for that stuff. when i was in orientation, i did some of a verbalized pre trip with the guy carlos that worked there, no idea if he’s even there still. i got some of the way through and they realized i knew what i was talking about so he kinda stopped me so that eased the stress of the situation. the road test was easy for me and relatively straight forward. a couple left turns and right turns around the area of the terminal and when you come back, a sight side back into the spot you pulled out of
