When I was selling bus tickets, I was "black sheep" of company, because I was nice to foreigners. My coworkers, every time they took money from black person, they washed their hands and was disgusted by me, when I didn't. Almost nobody was talking with me because of it. Then they started to count my minutes, that I spend on toilet and when I asked them, if it's problem to go to toilet and tha I can't anything about it, that I just need to go pee, they told me: "I don't drink whole shift (12 hours) to not go peeing.". I was there only 5 months, than I quit. I ended that job with screaming at my manager: "People under you are having depression and are really struggling with every day, they are at job, because of those bitches. You won't do anything about it?", she replied "If they are unhappy, they can leave.". Now I'm hating even buy tickets from this bus company, because I know how horribly they are behaving to their staff.

Sounds like the Managers of the place have issues. If there is such a continuous problem with this woman, they should get rid of her. She is not good for the animals or the establishment. She should be fired. I think that manager was hoping that the mediation process would give them a hook to either set her straight or get rid of her. The issue of the early retirement is one that is used often to get rid of someone. It's difficult to get concrete evidence of wrong doing on someone in many circumstances, especially when that person has been there a long time and knows how to work the system.

I've heard of a difficult person when they got fired, they sued the company, and lost the case (apparently it wasn't even the first time for the said difficult person). But the company needed to pay for a lawyer and go through all the troubles, and since it was a smallish company with manager working almost 24/7, this was a huge deal. So I can sort of understand wanting to just get rid of someone more easily. Though yes, it seems unfair and they should have done something already much earlier, since they knew Veronica was toxic.

Omg until recently I had to bartend with a vile harpy like your Veronica. She was a psychotic control freak and would give me this crazy soul burning glare whenever I had to work behind the bar with her. Everyone that has worked with her behind the bar at that restaurant hates her eventually. The only reason she wasn’t fired is because she is a really fast bartender... unfortunately she is unable to work respectfully with other people. She particularly disliked me and would complain that I was incompetent and then would bully me by not doing her closing sidework and stocking the bar if she knew I was opening the next day. That went on for a month or two until I wizened up and took pictures of how the bar was in the morning. She only got yelled at though, not even a write up. -__- That restaurant was full of problems though and I also had to file a charge of pregnancy discrimination against them for other things. The freaking place caused me so much stress which may be the reason why I had complications at the beginning of my 3rd trimester and had to be hospitalized. Thankfully I’m out of there and my pregnancy’s going smoothly again. Here’s to bad management and vile coworkers! lolol

My supervisor (a long time ago) was a serious bully. I worked under her for about a year before it got too much and I verbally lost it with her and stormed out of the office. The actual circumstances on the day were so trivial, but it was the last straw in a whole catalogue of behaviour. I was seen leaving the office by the HR Manager and another senior manager. I was in floods of tears, and they took me somewhere quiet and I told them what was going on with my supervisor. They were actually really supportive, though they did say that 'this' was a massive over reaction to the event that had just taken place...I knew they were right, but I also kept reminding myself that it wasn't an isolated incident. I think they sent me home, I went to my GP, and she signed me off with stress for two weeks. I used that time to find another job, and left without ever having to encounter my ex supervisor again...which I was very grateful for. I'm so sorry you experienced such a vile work environment too, but it made us who we are today, strong confident women. I FEEL FOR YOU EM! I actually had to deal with a similar situation this past year. I got job at a large dog boarding facility that I had been wanting for for a few years. Unfortunately when I got there the supervisors did a poor job at training me and the other new employees. Whenever I would ask questions the supervisors would act like it was such a inconvenience for them to actually show me how to do my job. Not only that but the staff constantly yelled at or hit the dogs. Despite the fact that the facility has several policies against hitting the dogs it still happened on a daily basis. Eventually I couldn't take it any more and I quit the job a few months after I started. I absolutely loved working with the dogs but my coworkers made it a toxic environment that was honestly bad for my mental health.

I had a similar experience at a dog boarding facility, except I never saw the staff hit a dog. In my case, they had only one barely trained employee at a time watch over 25-35 dogs of all different sizes and behavioral reputations all cramped into this “playroom”. This one person was responsible for breaking up inevitable dog fights while also constantly cleaning up their piss and poo. It was nearly impossible, and incredibly unsafe. Oftentimes when I was unsuccessful in breaking up a dog fight one of the managers would have to sprint into the room and save me. Sometimes, they wouldn’t even remove the dog from the playroom. They would continue to put aggressive dogs in the playroom with all the others. Btw, there were literally just as many managers as there were people working in the back (4). Red flag much? Anyway, my grievances don’t stop there. When isolated in this playroom with these insane hoards of dogs, your only coping mechanism was a tiny old radio. So one day, I turn on this radio to make the best out of a shitty situation, and the senior manager (the worst employee of all) storms in and yells, demanding I turn the radio down, when it was already barely loud enough to hear over the sounds of the dogs barking. This same manager also was telling a story one morning about a finicky dog, and blatantly said the dog “doesn’t like colored people.” I was fucking shook. The next day, one of the managers under her quit without notice. Then I quit the day after her with no notice.

Unfortunately there are Veronica's out there who make life so difficult for people around them, management included, that everyone just gets stuck and you're right mediation would've been a waste of time. As much as they deserve a comeuppance all you can do is look after yourself which you did so well done. The management really should have done more though and that is a poor reflection on them x

@januarymilk93476 жыл бұрын
Em it's like you say, it's a red flag to you now, but it only becomes a red flag once you've been through a situation like that. If you were in a situation now where everyone said to you 'oh wow you're going to be working with HER?!' you'd be like nope, goodbye, been here before never again! But management made it a reflection on you; 'oh well done we didn't think you'd make it this long', implying you were strong to stick it out and that leaving would be giving in or failing, and that was them being every bit as manipulative as her. The Veronica's of the world are a vortex that drags everyone around them into their drama, so seriously well done on escaping and creating such a positive channel and community!

I actually had a similar experience when I started working as a dog handler at a boarding facility/doggy daycare. Very few staff, no proper management, snarky behavior and low-key sexism, little training or education regarding the industry, no customer service/safety protocols, greed-based overcrowding, etc. Unsurprisingly, it has not worked out well. I'm still working there, and I've done my best to voice my concerns and push for positive changes... There have been some good changes, but I really lost of a lot sleep over it all. I am so sorry you had to go through that. I understand though - I have worked with several Veronicas during my years as a gainfully employed young adult. The one that stands out the most is from when I worked at Walmart. Let's call her Stacy (not her real name). She was this nasty department manager that everyone hated. She was one of those people who would hand off responsibilities to other people instead of doing them herself. She would have her underlings basically do her job for her while she got the manager wage. It was messed up. That and she was just rude. So anyway, one day I was helping a customer who I happened to have gone to school with. She comes up to me, completely ignoring the customer, and snaps "What are you doing? You're supposed to be zoning not chatting with your friends." Looking back I can kind of understand why she might have thought this. He was close to my age and I DID technically know him. But still, she shouldn't have done that. My customer looks incredibly embarrassed - I would be too If I was trying to buy something and some witch came up to me and started shrieking for no apparent reason. And I'm livid. Now normally I would be too terrified to talk back to my superiors, even if I was standing up for myself. But I guess that day I had enough, that something in me must have snapped, because before even I knew what I was doing, I wheel around, look her dead in the eye and say "EXCUSE ME, I am with a customer right now. A customer who is wanting to purchase a tv. When I am DONE I will go zone. IS THAT OK WITH YOU, STACY?" Her mouth kind of goes slack and her eyes widen a bit- it's rare that someone actually questions her and it always seems to throw her through a loop. What I had just done starts to register with my brain and I'm silently panicking but I'm not about to let her smell my fear so I try to play it cool. It must have worked because after about ten seconds of awkward silence she blinks and says "Well ok. Just, uh, go zone when your done." And she never bothered me again. So anyway, that's my Veronica story. Thought I'd share it in solidarity.

I’ve been a zookeeper for a little under 2 years now at a popular zoo in Texas. It’s been fantastic getting this knowledge and experience under my belt, but the politics, back pain (oh my god...), and bad pay were really my driving factors for leaving. It’s one of those things where I’ve done what I came to do, am at peace with my own experience there, and am ready to move forward to something more up my field in aquatics. Wouldn’t trade my time there for anything.

For anyone in a similar situation, two words you need to learn: 'Constructive Dismissal'. Look it up. I'm so sorry you went through that. I once did as well. For me, the faeces finally hit the aeration device when I suffered a work place injury that was entirely Toxic Jerk's fault. I know how their bullying behaviour wears away at your and abnormal comes to seem normal. They get away with it in places that are 'dream job' places- zookeeping is very hard to get into, so people will put up with a lot of shit(literally and figuratively in the case of zoos!) to keep their job. Anyway...after single-handedly wrecking the career of Toxic Jerk and changing the entire workplace culture of that business (long story), I ended up being in management myself. I can tell you, from listening to your story, that the management over you were just absolutely begging you to enter mediation so that they could have a good, solid reason for sacking Veronica that would stand up in an employment tribunal. Of course, by that stage you were too worn down and fragile to be able to tolerate any extra stress whatsoever. That is how workplace bullies get away with it. It's frustrating, but your mental health is far more important than getting justice, so you did the right thing for you by walking away. Employment law in the UK makes it really hard to sack someone (which is mostly a good thing), but it can be a problem if you have a spiteful employee. If anyone reading this feels you're in a bad situation, here are some tips that might save your sanity and your job: - Make sure you really know your employment law. Being able to quote laws and regulations scares the crap out of HR. - Join a union. They are not very powerful now, but they can give you legal aid in the case of constructive dismissal (which you could easily have claimed here, EM) - KEEP A JOURNAL!!!! This is super important. Once anything starts to feel a little off, keep records. Everything. Dates and times. Keep emails. Any official documentation. Keep the language neutral and unemotional. - Don't be afraid to use grievance procedures. They are there for just this sort of thing. - Most importantly, look after your mental health first. If it's too much, get out of that situation. Quit. Being out of work is better than a nervous breakdown. Finally, I'd take that early retirement as a victory, EM. It validates your experience- they got rid of her as soon as they possibly could. That shows that she was the problem, not you. Having been in that situation, I know how that doubt can linger.

I'm like you, I'll happily roll up my sleeps & get done what needs doing, but when you're the new employee forced to work under others who contribute to an entire slew of toxic work environmental factors, it makes the job extremely difficult. I feel you on so many levels Em. Earlier this year (April) me, my boyfriend, my BF brother and a friend got a job on 3 different hotels owned by the same couple in South Dakota. We are from Puerto Rico and we had a supervisor that worked for them before and she met us all in the Airport and she informed us that SHE was going to supervise us and train us. I made myself very clear that it was my first time ever traveling and working on a real job and that I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and she promised me that she will personally take care of me if anything happened. Fast forward a whole day of plane rides. We made it to SD and we got separated between the tree hotels, my BF and BFB in the small(not open at the time) hotel, me in the medium hotel and the friend and supervisor in the big(also not open at the time) hotel. I knew everything was starting on the wrong foot when I literally started working right when I got off the plane. The owner's son dropped us off in out housing building, we left our luggage in the rooms and we went to our respective hotels but the thing was, I didn't knew I was going to be alone on that hotel. After the end of the day I started to have a panic attack cuz I didn't knew anyone in the hotel, I didn't have a key to my housing room, it was snowing heavily and my BF wasnt answering his phone. Lucky for me two Puerto Rican brothers (girl and boy) that were on the hotel for a few weeks and stayed in the same housing building let me stay with them until my BF or my roommate( the supervisor) got off work, I held back a panic attack while with them and when my BF gave me his keys on the meantime I had a full panic attack in his room. The problem with the hotel I worked in was the manager which I'll name Bee. She is the type of person that talks sickly sweet and always smiles but is very passive agresive and bipolar, she will tell you to do something and then tell you to do something else even if you havent finished the first thing and would make people do her job. Important detail here; every single employee was Latino, only the owners and managers were americans. I got the job of housekeeping and the two Mexican ladies housekeepers where the ones that trained me not the supervisor and they trained me after they complained to Bee that I was doing jobs I was not supposed to do but Bee ordered me to do. One day I was on laundry duty (also without training, I was shown by the front desk employee the bottoms to press on the machines and done) I loaded the washing machine and dryers and learned how to fold them using the already folded linen and towels. I had a panic attack on the staff bathroom when I heard Bee whisper to the front desk girl that I should have finished already, I was too slow, I needed to finish it all off before she left. I needed to moved the washed load to the dryer, moved the dried load to the folding, fold and put away hundreds of linen and towels. I had to stay overtime to finish, I was tired, hungry and angry at Bee and the static electricity the linens produced that kept shocking me. I had another panic attack in the staff bathroom. The next day Bee told me I did an extra load of laundry that wasnt necessary but I did a really good job. She literally let me do the load, told me I was too slow then the next day told me I didn't needed to do the load and praised me for my hard work, I wanted to slap her but I'm the type of girl that will avoid confrontation at all cost and just stay shut up. 3rd panic attack happened when I was housekeeping a room and Bee bursted in screaning and told me I was too slow and needed to finish up before 3, it was 2:40 and I had one more room to do. I later learned that she did the same to the two Mexican ladies and one of them changed to another hotel and the other stayed bevause she didn't wanted to leave me alone with Bee. Almost a whole month had passed and I got my mom a a job in the same hotel as I was working, because we needes more personal (cuz I was working housekeeping alone) I trained my mom on housekeeping and laundry and Bee started to push us both around to the point mom got physically sick. So I took my chance there and quit the job with my mom and my BF followed me. I worked a month and a half withouth a single days off, doing housekeeping and laundry alone, and doing the job as housekeeper and laundry trainer and to top it all off!! I was being paid way less than my BF who was doing moving work and had Sundays off. The whole experience working there left me traumatized.

I’ve never sat through a story-time before but I managed with this one, I really enjoyed listening to it! I’m not even exaggerating I usually hate story-time videos. I’m gonna take Animal Management at college really soon and I’m so excited to get out of secondary and learn about what I want to learn about. We had one class and a practical lesson there and I was surprised that I enjoyed them both as much as each-other. Before I go there (September I think) I’ve decided to watch some documentaries on animals and zoo keeping (this video kinda is included in that I guess except it’s more like spilling the Veronica tea xD but it gets me prepared for anything) and I got to hold rats for the first time too! I loved them sooo much, I can’t wait to work with more animals. This is kinda sappy so I don’t mind if you don’t read all of this comment because it’s gonna be sooo long (ADHD means it’s hard to stop talking, but I kinda don’t want to even though I know I’m blabbing =‘) sorry) but I’ve had a lot of issues with mental health and I thought after school I’d have no hope whatsoever, I was gonna become a homeless person outside of Asda and live in a box coloured in with wax crayons, that’s all I saw for me because I thought art was my only talent, but animals have always been a part of my life, I’ve never lived with no pets in the house, and my cats have always kept me going (I don’t have favourites but there’s one in particular, who’s currently the oldest, who’s bonded with me the most) and I’ve ridden and cared for horses (don’t own one but I help at my stables) and I realised I didn’t need art if it was worrying me that much (I started loosing joy in it and it was the only thing I’d ever truly enjoyed so I was really scared) and it kinda clicked. I don’t know where I’m going to do work experience yet since college requires me to do a certain amount of hours of work experience a week, the place I’ve asked them about requires me to be 18 so I have to wait until next year in November for that uGh. I’m honestly so excited. IF YOU SEE DIS, ITS THE END OF MY COMMENT AND THEREFOR THE SUMMARY SO YOU CAN SKIP IT AND READ THIS IF YOU WANT! I enjoyed your video and I’m definitely going to subscribe and watch more!

It's likely they don't feel empathy so then bond with animals they can control. That does lead to them being racist, but likely goes deeper than that. I've personally met people who care about their pets, but seem to have no soul and abuse others. Even then, this one person referred to someone else's kitten as a weakling with disgust. The general vibe is like the guy from No Country for Old Men.

@@emerybluh4506 I completely agree and no matter what people's actions must have consequences no matter their background, but although there are people beyond repair there are others that just need someone that can change their faith, it's hard and often not fruitful but sometimes worth it. My awful work story is different but still awful. I was working at the much in childcare. One of my coworkers had her son in the children’s area where he wasn’t allowed. It’s for kids 5 months to like 8 years old I’m pretty sure (it’s been awhile) and he was 10. It was my day off and I was there to workout and get some stuff I left. I walked in and saw her son holding an infant with no one watching. I yelled to them to do something and as they go to him he drops the baby. In a case like this we have to administer any aid to the child, notify the parents, and write an incident report. I worked the next day so I asked someone if all that was done and it wasn’t. The parents weren’t told and no incident report was filed. All because it was my coworkers son. So I took it into my own hands and had to file the report. I also told my boss what happened. I get a call a few weeks later that I’m due for a evaluation. I’m hoping for a raise. She tells me my coworker found me to be too bossy so she’s letting me go. Basically to cover there asses that an INFANT was dropped I got fired. The woman I worked with later got fired.

I never worked at a zoo. I went to a zoo once. It hadn't been a national zoo though. They weren't allowed to show the wolves the zoo raised and cared for. My mom and i heard about it (my favorite animal is a wolf btw) and heard about how the workers would play with them in public. They had to hide them from view by putting up fences on the sides but my mom found a opening in them to show me. I saw a few other people looking sad about it so i showed them about the spot. When i watched the wolves from there. The wolves went over and they were just adorable. They didn't growl or snarl, they looked friendly. One of them whined at me and it was like a bullet shot through my heart, it sounded so cute. I could tell they missed seeing humans or something. Maybe they liked the kids? Idk. But there was this other zoo. I think it was a national one. I didn't like the electric wires they had to keep the animals in. I thought it was kinda cruel because what would happen if they got electrocuted or harmed because of them? But that's MY opinion. I really like wolves even if i draw mostly cats.

I actually had to quit a job in a cleaning company because of. Simular kind of superior. He didn't care to teach anyone the job position I was given. My position was recently implemented when I was hired, i think they said it was implemented 6 months before I was hired, and they already went through 10 people before me. I was tasked with cleaning the loading bay of the office building, and handing key cards to couriers as I cleaned. This took about 2 hours of my 6 hour shift. Then I would have to clean the security office, security break room, matenience room, and one bathroom all in 1 hour. My last 3 hours consisted of whatever odd jobs I was needed to fill in for if people were away, or I would assist my superior. If I was assigned to work with him, he would have an all around bad additude, leave me with all the work, while he flirted on tinder and follow behind me, taking pictures of anything I'd miss. I was only there for 2 months and 3 weeks and J was sent to the office with a verbal warning about a good 10 times. This was just a little of the problems. I was given a list of responsibilities on top of this 6 hour shift that consisted of 3 days a week having to sweep and mop all fire exits which were 17 floors of each building, 2 stairs wells per day = to 3 buildings. I also had to steam and vaccum all carpets in the loby once a week. All of this packed into a 6 hour shift. The final straw was when I opperated the steam cleaner, the superior informed me that the hose comes loose, cause he broke it. He also used to leave it filled with water, informing me, there was no issue if it was full. The next day I was called into the office because that evening after I left, the hose popped off on him and soaked a carpet in one of the nicer offices and a picture was sent to management of the steamer filled with water after I used it. He told managment that I broke the hose and never told anyone, and I was instructed to empty the steam cleaner after every use.

I worked in a dementia home for just over a year which I had to give up for mental health reasons. As you can imagine, working in this environment was terribly difficult and heartbreaking as I had never had any qualifications and was just starting out with experience. Anywho, I worked with many amazing people who are all kind hearted and always had the residents care and comfort first. But that doesn't mean that they were all lovely to me. I had this one lady who had been working in care for decades but was starting out with me. She would make little snide comments that I was clueless and shouldn't be working with vulnerable people as I had just turned 19 and had mental health issues myself. The biggest reason my health declined was that in November of last year, I had suffered a miscarriage and was very sick. The first day back after my 4 week leave, I heard her talking to a senior hca that I was a crybaby and that she wouldn't be surprised if I had faked being sick just to get time off work (I'm not sure if she knew why I was off because I didnt tell anyone) but that really upset me. I tried to talk to my manager about this because I didnt need the added stress on top of my already stressed out self. My manager basically told me that she couldn't stop people in the home from gossiping and that if I didn't like it, then they can give us opposite rotas so we never bump into eachother. I had a meeting with management to cut down my hours to 3 days a week or just half shifts because I couldn't take it any more. The job was no longer rewarding, I'd be in tears every day and the gossiping had just gotten too much. Management declined my request and 2 days later I handed in my notice and told my manager to shove my job up where the sun doesn't shine. It was the most toxic work environment and so unprofessional. Tldr: One of my work colleagues thought I faked a miscarriage to get out of work, management did nothing to help and so I quit. Ps. They never did a back to work meeting to see if I was capable to come back, so that just sold it to me that they didn't care about the staff there

And even without that, you chose at every opportunity to see her as more of a person than she saw you as. Despite all she did to you, you only fought to defend your reputation, not to tear hers down. That is MASSIVELY worth admiration.

Love your channel Em. I found it because of your ferret videos (I love those little carpet sharks) and I adore your passion and your clear love of teaching others about animals. I thought to myself, she would be an amazing zookeeper (before I found out your used to be one :) ). My heart goes out to you and your bad experience. I had a similar situation. I am a zookeeper and I had a toxic team for almost 6 years. I was on a team of 6, who all loved the animals, but were terrible to each other. Constantly talking behind each other's backs, always self centered when it came to the zoo as a whole, taking credit for other's work, and had a pecking order mentality within the team. Just a nightmare to be around. My managers were the same. I'd bring up concerns and they were all talk, never did anything about it, no consequences to their behavior, even though the whole zoo knew how bad they are. My dream job had become my hell, and I hated going to work everyday despite the love I had for the actual work. I was so close to quitting and giving it all up, the job I had wanted since I was a kid, but luck would have it an opening on a different team became available, and now I am surrounded by support and positivity from my team and my manager, and I love my dream job again. I'm so sorry you went through what you did, but I'm so glad it didn't taint you for the good zoos do and the people who do the work there. It sucks that it only takes a few bad eggs to ruin something you love. It looks like you have a good thing going with your business, but if you ever decide to give zoo keeping another shot, I think you would do amazing things for both the animals and the guests.

I'm a vet tech student in my second year and I have found through doing my work study that I HATE general practice. Trust me, it's hell. It's not my major that's the problem; I really want to be a vet tech. That's just not the right job for me. Sometimes it takes a while to find your niche, even after you're sure about what you want to be career wise, so it's important to do your research and find a job that works for you. There's no reason you should allow yourself to be miserable when you're on a career path you know is right for you.

i’m so sorry that happened that is horrible, especially at your dream job :(( i’m only 14 and i started volunteering at my local zoo about 18 months ago and it’s changed my life, it’s so important to me, it’s changed my entire worldview and it’s honestly the best decision i’ve ever made. i’ve gone through a couple of rough patches with people there who made me go home and cry because i felt that my happy place was ruined but they always end up leaving and now i wouldn’t leave the zoo for anything

Well, you are the reason why I am becoming a zookeeper at the moment. You inspired me. And I am absolutely living my best life. I started after school and I feel like I finally became alive! The team is awesome and I absolutely fell in love with the animals. It's an incredible job and I am very sorry to hear your experience

What qualifications did u need for the job? I really want to become an animal care taker of some kind and am wondering what I have to do to get better chances
@LittleBird1998 Жыл бұрын
@@sline1276hey there, sorry for the Late answer:) i am actually located in Germany, here you have to do three years of training in a zoo to become a zookeeper. So you write an application (usually many to many zoos, as its quite Hard to be chosen), do some internships, hopefully become accepted to be hired as a trainee, and then during the three years you Visit school and work at the zoo that hired you. And then, when you are done, you can call yourself a pretty cool, official zookeeper and start applying :)

I just found your channel today and I love your content already! I love how the explaining to you having quit your job as a zookeeper had everything to do with a coworker and not the animals, just proving how much better animals are than humans lol. I actually worked at what I thought was my DREAM job last year, at Sephora, only to have such a similar experience to you. Other than alcohol being involved, I worked with a team that I got along will except one woman who made it hell and so uncomfortable. She would barely ever speak to me and vice versa once I got the message but she would say rude comments loud enough so she knew I, and other staff, could hear. The upper management even knew of this "attitude" and told everyone good luck and just to give it time. She was a downright bully who could never say anything to your face. She would take pictures of things people did wrong just the same, she said out loud that she was "too good" for the job...yet she was working along with us just the same, just so many similarities. Eventually I brought every racist and rude comment she made to the store manager and I was told they would do an investigation but I don't think they ever did. Eventually she left, as did the rest of the team basically and they had cut hours since it went from 7-9 people doing this job to just me and my supervisor. It was very bittersweet leaving and I basically just sent an email that I was quitting and that was that, no reply or anything. My job before I worked with amazing girls but our manager was a dickhead. I had enough of his attitude and quit, as did the others eventually. Just really goes to show you how one toxic person can really spoil the entire environment, no matter if you're doing what you love.

I used to think it was my dream job, but I unfortunately was placed on a very understaffed team full of the RUDEST people. I was an unpaid intern at a small zoo that sounds similar in my area and am working to finish my degree simultaneously. Almost having my degree, I feel it was a good time to have an internship. I loved my work and I did very similar work but had I not had a supportive team I don't know how I would have gotten through it. It was 10-11 hours of brutal work for 2-3 days of a week and left me exhausted. I loved the work and animals, and found the experience very rewarding and realized this is what I want to do long term if I can. I know it's not easy but with a toxic environment enabling people like "Veronica" I can't even imagine what that must have looked like.. zookeepers need to be willing to teach one another and work together or the job will never go smoothly and animals will suffer. Thank you for sharing this. I'm so grateful for my experience and hope I continue to have good ones moving forward.

I have been watching your videos since you started ❤️ I’m getting a baby ferret on the weekend we have everything ready for her and o have been researching non stop but can you possibly do a video on things you need to do for baby ferrets(egg:Vaccines and other things like that) That would help a lot!! Thx Em
@Emzotic6 жыл бұрын
Itz Jess Hey Jess. It’s different in every country :) In the UK you have to plan for desexing and all vaccinations as they don’t usually come with any vaccinations or desexing unless otherwise stated. In the USA, most ferrets come desexed and descented. They also usually have their first round of distemper. Distemper comes in two shots, several days or weeks apart in the uk. I’m not sure if this is the same in the USA. Check with your breeder or store owner and ask them to write down the legal requirements (permits etc) and any info they have on the kit for you to take to your vet for a consultation :)

I currently volunteer at a zoo and I am so lucky that all the staff (+volunteers!) are SO so lovely and easy to get on with, at first I thought one of the staff members was a going to be a bit of a bully because to me she came off as a bit loud and shouty but I soon realised that she’s actually just very bubbly and confident which I started as the opposite of! But we get on really well and she’s so lovely! We’re all like one big family so to hear that you had such a horrible experience is so sad that one horrible person could ruin your time doing a job you love!
