I do to, but if you see this here’s a tip to help so you can work at a shelter or something like that. Think of calmer things and naps definitely help

Hello! today i signed up to volunteer at my local animal shelter. I wanted to do something nice for other animals in my free time so im pretty exited to help! on the other side i am also really nervous and scared for the work that im gonna have to do. i hope it wont be too much of a workload for me. i absolutely love animals but i can get overwhelmed quick. But i hope for the best, wish me luck!

I have an interview with the Humane Society next week. I'm nervous because I hate seeing animals in pain. it makes me really upset. my cousin told me to just think of it as giving them all the love they deserve, especially in their final moments.

Hi! I volunteered at my local shelter for 2 years before I started working there. They had a position open up and they hired me, I absolutely love my job! The animal shelter I work at is also no kill but we have been struggling to keep our numbers down. Especially in dogs. We've been having to house the over flow on them in wire kennels. We don't accept owner surrenders and since we are the only no kill shelter in our area, a lot of people are dishonest and say they found an animal when in reality it's really their pet. Or they ask friends or family that live in our city, and have a drivers license from our city, to bring in their animal and say they found it. We are very fortunate though to have a great community donating and volunteering to help us. And you are so right when you say the job is very physically demanding and that's what I love about this job. It keeps me on my toes! I love being able to make a difference in the animals lives while they are here and being able to take care of them as well as watch them recover when they are sick/injured.

I am so happy to see this video. When I think back at our time I often thought of the negatives. But this made me remember the good times, the funny times, and genuinely made me smile. :) This was such a positive take on the experience we had which was many ways traumatic for little 16 year olds.

Working in a animal shelter is both rewarding and depressing. If you want an animal be responsible. Spay and neuter your pets. Protect and love your pets. Animal shelters shouldn't be a thing if we all do better.

Thank you so much for making this video! I stopped by a shelter today and found out they were hiring, so I’ve been researching it a bit to know what I might be getting myself into. I figured the emotional toll would be no joke, but hearing your experiences was super helpful to mediate my expectations too. Also I’m so sorry to hear about the fleas and your pup oof. All the best! And also thank you for all the work and love you’ve given for these animals🥺

This story is so sad! Poor animals. It doesn't just happen at animal shelters. I am currently doing my externship at an animal hospital, it is very dirty. There's animal hair all over, blood tubes, pens, leashes, etc, all over in small corners. I have seen dead cockroaches at dog kennels... It's nasty!

I really thank you for this video, I was thinking about working at an animal shelter but now I see this job might not be for me. I could NEVER watch an innocent animal die locked up in a cage, I couldn't deal with seeing sick, weak and scared animals. I probably would have not lasted long.

Just dropped off abandoned cat and her 2 3-week old kittens yesterday. The kittens were not yet weaned. It was emotionally draining because I could feel the mother cat's distress and broken spirit. I went back 4 hours afterwards to deliver notes that I thought would help them find her a new home but was horrified that one of the kittens was no longer there. When I asked, a guy working there said that someone bought the kitten and would give it formula. Is kitten formula a thing? ... or did something likely happen to that kitten?

Kitten formula is a thing when fostering kittens under 5-6 weeks of age.
