If you play this in the future, I recommend playing a system called “Pokemanz”, it’s a really good system designed specifically for running Pokémon tabletop games, my group had a lot of fun playing our campaign. Also the book is extremely charming, and the rules are pretty simple to follow as well

Vulpixie having to say "no one dies here, cause its pokemon" while a skorupi is catching aflame after being stabbed through the side with a sword made of fire has the same vibe as "kiryu has never killed a man"

I thought it was "Kiryu has never _murdered_ a man" or something in the same vein. Because there are some things Kiryu has done, including in Heat Actions, that would _absolutely_ kill people. It's just not murder because it's self-defense.

@ASquared544Ай бұрын
I'd really recommend a non-D&D system like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Tabletop Adventures, or if you're interested in something notably more complex, the Pokerole Project. They're built from the ground up to be ran as Pokemon Campaigns for Pokemon Campaigns, and the former simplifies a lot of the mechanics without sacrificing the flavor, so you can have a much easier time both playing *and* running those types of campaigns!
@Blaze-the-snakeАй бұрын
I recommend the system called “pokemanz”, it’s more based on the mechanics of the anime, which works far better for tabletop games because it encourages creativity over hard rules and mechanics

If you ever plan on doing something specifically Pokemon related with TTRPGs, I'd recommend starting on something simpler before moving to D&D, as D&D requires a lot of homebrew to be Pokemon Compatible. Something like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Tabletop Adventures is much simpler, while something like the Pokerole Project... I wouldn't call it simple but it is certainly easier to play than D&D. Have fun!

i'm terrible at D&D but what i believed to happen with the flygon was if it was a super optional boss battle, it would stagger looking defeated, then out of no where phase 2 happens where it is granted the ability to mega evolve getting a boost in power as a sign of desperation (if mega flygon actually existed) but still the rp done in this story was on point, some funny moments but still somewhat interesting to listen to.

Hey, if you plan on doing something else like this again, I highly recommend using a system like PokeRole or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Tabletop Adventures, they're much better at emulating Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and the latter maintains a faster and looser playstyle than D&D that will gel better with an improvised live play. The former meanwhile helps go more in depth into the fact you're a Pokemon and gives more tools to support that. Help keep things less mechanically crunchy, which allows comedy and improv to flow more freely, and their mechanics are actually Pokemon and will therefore allow you all to better do Pokemon things in the campaign. D&D isn't a monolith, and it's nice to support indie TTRPG creators. Especially when those creations are better suited for achieving your vision. It may seem like more work, but it's like learning a language: once you've done it once, each time after only gets easier. Plus most TTRPGs are easier to learn than D&D, and D&D is actually one of the most complex ones out there. It's built on a long history of precedent that has not only shoehorned it into a very specific genre, but has also made it so a lot of legacy rules end up being vague or confounding and confusing.

Yeah, that was a gripe I kinda had when I first saw it on Failboat's VOD channel.
