22:20 In mystery dungeon, there is no type immunity. Super effectiveness is a little changed. If something is not super effective, it does 90% of the normal damage and if the pokemon would be immune (like a ground pokemon taking an electric attack) then it does half damage. So it's not very weird for pokemon to be afraid of being hurt by those attacks.
@justintime20262 ай бұрын
It's 1.4x damage if an attack is super effective and 0.7x damage if an attack is not very effective. You're right about immune translating to .5x damage though

The endings to every single Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, in which my character has to leave the Pokemon world and all the friends he made along the way, are _precisely_ why I don't play the games in this series. I'm almost 31, and these endings still make me cry. Yes, in some of them, my character does return and reunite with their friends. But that only makes me cry harder.

I'm gonna be brutally honest, I feel like Sky Tower Summit completely invalidates the entire rom hack. Being able to use your items and strategize is a major reason the rom hack can still be fun despite how unfair and brutal it is at times. Basically every dungeon in the game could theoretically be completed in very few tries once you know what you're doing and you play very patiently/optimally with the proper item loadout. Sky Tower Summit takes all that skill expression away from you and basically just expects you to send attempt after attempt until you get lucky. What a lame way to end off what would otherwise be a relatively fun and highly skill based rom hack (at least for PMD standards lol). It's just a shame that you basically only wanted to complete the dungeon just because you enjoyed everything up until that point and it would otherwise feel like a waste.

I wonder if the reason that no Pokémon spawned from that monster house in magma cavern is because around the floor it happened in it’s just Onix on that floor in the main game. Maybe the room couldn’t fit all the Onix since Onix cover two tiles
@zander27582 ай бұрын
Could also be due to sprite limitations, like onix's prolly take a lot of sprite slots and when trying to spawn all of them at once for the monster house the game cancelled it to not break everything, prolly some failsafe the devs put into the game perhaps.

1:24:30 I think this moment encapsulates why the ending for mystery dungeon always hit. It’s not the story that make the experience, it’s the gameplay. Narratively, having to say goodbye to your friend you save the world with is sad, but what made people cry as kids was thinking back to the bs argument at silent chasm, watching your partner dodge the oran berry you throw at them, and seeing them step on traps because they’re dumb and your movement is bad that established the connection of “this is my dumbass that helps me topple what should be insurmountable odds.” Kaizo seems like an amplified version of that experience

The reason why no enemy spawned at the Magma Cavern last floor (1:52:37) is because the floor was already clogged with enemies. In Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team and Sky at least, there can only be a fixed number of enemy entities on the floor. in Sky, this is 15 enemies max (+ 1 slot dedicated to Kecleon). Maybe the number isn't the same in RT but this is exactly what happened : you entered the floor with the full 15 enemies or whatever the maximum is. Because what Monster Houses do is fill up the missing number of enemies to go up to 15, but if there are ALREADY 15 enemies then nothing can spawn. So... yeah. Empty monster house. Funniest thing in this is, almost no dungeon in both RT or Sky was evil to the point of having this much enemy density on floor start (yes this is a property that can be changed per dungeon, per floor even). So basically the only way to discover this is to play difficulty hacks and have to mess with a high count of enemies

I've played through base game of this a lot and the remake. Only ONCE have I ever seen 2 chestnuts spawn on the final floor and only had to do that dungeon twice. Normally, it's 3 or more tries to get everything. Hypnosis does suck but in other mystery dungeon type(some non-pokemon) games, it's so much worse. If they use it again after you get put to sleep, it becomes mind control and you literally sabotage the team. They can attack other teammates or start throwing items and equipment off of themselves or out of your bag. I had to reset the whole game from the beginning when my team member threw all their equipment and all of my escape items into a hole.
