Just to help your squirrel obsession, I’ve seen white squirrels in Brevard NC and they have a festival for them every year. One time everyone who went to the festival dressed up as a white squirrel and they broke the world record for the number of people dressed as the same thing in one place. My parents have also have had two different flying squirrels stuck in their house (the squirrels made it out okay). Beautiful vlog as always so thank you for brightening my Sunday morning ☺️

This video brought me so much joy! NYC is one of my favorite places and I'm a big Disney fan, so it was fun to see this all. But what really got me was the excitement for squirrels. I have lived my whole life in the States, so squirrels have never been a rarity, but I too lose my mind whenever I see one, to this day. They're just such cute animals! It made me smile wide to see someone else excited over them.

I love that you love squirrels! 😊 My mom's childhood nickname for me was Squirrel so they've always held a special place in my heart. Here in America they are often viewed as a nuisance, and they can be - they've nested in the eaves and window wells of several apartments where I've resided over the years. Nevertheless, I loved watching from my window as they go about their little daily routines. They are playful, sassy, and are constantly cuddling each other or primping and preening. I hope one day you get to spot the very rare and beautiful black squirrel in person. As far as I know they are the same as regular squirrels, just born with black hair for some reason.

I am originally from NYC and went to college there and for many hard, personal reasons have learned to despise the place, but it makes me very happy to see you enjoy it, in a way that makes me nostalgic for a place that doesn't exist for me anymore. It's a really lovely place sometimes, and other times such utter chaos... but you went to basically all the best places. And your excitement over the squirrels is adorable. They are definitely special and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. :)

As a person who used to live in California, when travelling if you get the chance visit some of what Northern Cali has to offer especially around the Sacramento area, do it. There is a lot of history there. Off the top of my head I could recommend some places that are great outdoors experiences like hiking the American River, the Sutter's fort, the Empire mine state Historic Park, and out in San Fran there is Alcatraz and Angels island. And there's so much more to check out than that.

As a New Yorker I am so glad you visited! Central Park and the Strand and the High Line and the AMNH were great choices. I have a few reading recs that take place in NYC, if you haven't read them yet: Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin (avoid the movie), Time and Again by Jack Finney (time travel fun--I don't know if you got to walk by Gramercy Park while you were here, it's not far from Union Sq), and The Alienist by Caleb Carr (murder mystery/ thriller set in 1896-- again, avoid the TV version-- or at least if you are interested in it, read the book first. They had very different vibes to me. )

Yes, squirrels are everywhere. Anywhere with more than half a dozen trees and some bushes in the US, and you're bound to see a squirrel with a death wish darting into traffic. Go to any university campus in the US with at least five trees, some bushes, and some green space, and you'll see fat squirrels. Not sure how prevalent they are in the dry-heat of the Southwest. Chipmunks may not come out as often.

Wait, do they not have squirrels in Australia? There's a classical pianist based in NYC named Tiffany Poon, who spends inordinate amounts of time watching and feeding squirrels, when she's not preparing for concerts. They're different colors in different places, like grey on the east coast, red in parts of the Midwest, and I think Ms. Poon showed us in one of her vlogs that they're black in Germany. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit!!
