@proddyC you should have a look at the Sparkasse 3 Lander marathon! It is in October and it crosses Austria, Germany and Switzerland. I done it last year and it was amazing and interesting covering 3 countries in one marathon!

That’s impressive for your first time fella, definitely helps having people there cheering you on! Should be extremely proud of yourself. I done a 50k injured, was going smooth sailing till about 30k where my legs just gave up, I could barely get to 42k never mind 50, got there in the end but my word it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. What’s next are you gonna do another marathon?

Random but I have to ask, after stumbling into this great video... I was cheering at the half way point - the left turn after the long long straight that goes up a hill... and I shouted "great work you got this" to someone who turned as they went round the corner shouting back to me "thank you, you're a legend!* and something that sounded like "I'll write songs about you!"... was that you?

My plan was the exact same for this race, hold a 5:20 and pray it's enough of a buffer for sub 4. Managed to get it, though watching this I was feeling the exact same at the end. Glad you got what you wanted though! In the end mine was 4:38:30 (also my first marathon)
