Warrior Within was great -Signed, a former teenage edgelord from the mid-00s

The combat in WW was so good. Shame we haven't really gotten any games that replicated that combat system, along with the movement.

Since Matt mentioned how the original Prince of Persia game from 1989 had so many ports, it makes me hope that he makes a video where he challenges himself to play as many of the ports of the original PoP as he possibly can (sort of like how he played through multiple ports of various Double Dragon games in his ten-hour Double Dragon extravaganza)!

TFW you realize it’s going to be 7 years since Matt’s prince of Persia retrospective.

after replaying the trilogy last year I found warrior within to be an awful nightmare game(maybe an exaggeration). I was coming in here expecting matt to be putting his life on the line for it but I'm glad to see he understands the situation. good stuff. Lost crown is peak fiction

[Lost Crown SPOILER] It is heavily implied that Sargon is the TRUE Prince of Persia in the story, but I guess Ubisoft thought they'd have more money and time to reveal it later in another dlc or sequel, but that's not going to happen. Ubisoft making the same mistake they made in 2008. No more sequel baiting please Ubisoft!!!!

Not the "true" prince since that's still V, but Thomyris' actual son.

Another banger tier list. Your style, or way of explaining your rankings, has definitely inspired me to start mapping out some tier lists of my own.

Prince of Persia the sand of times for Game Boy Advance is kind of a Solid Duke, Matt.

Oh wow, someone managed to critique PoP 2008 without whining about not being able to die. Never thought I'd see the day.

Lost Sands is interesting, I think on the fundamentals and production it works well, but it all feels very by the numbers. Like its problem isn’t that it has any major flaws or massive issues, it’s just kind of a generic “game”. “ it feels like a prince of Persia that you’d see being played in the background of a movie. I have a soft spot for it, but it is kind of an odd duck

I can't stop thinking about that toy time dagger that came out during the movie, it had sand in the hilt and everything.

I don't have much experience with PoP (I think Warrior Within is the only one I've actually finished), so it's nice to hear about the franchise from the perspective of a lifelong fan.

PSP Forgotten Sands finally getting some appreciation. I gave up on my first playthrough of Warrior Within, but tried it again later and liked it more than Two Thrones in some ways.

I don't know if people had a similar experience but, Warrior Within was buggy as fuck on my gamecube. It had soft locks, the teleporting crow guys were super buggy and had a game breaking glitch involving the secret water sword.

I kind of really want to see you play all the Prince of Persia 1 ports in a similar style to your legendary Double Dragon marathon, Matt. Anyway, great video!

Great list. I was a little disappointed you didn’t talk about the Mega CD version, but I understand since it’s just a glorified port of the Genesis cart. Something about forcing anime cut scenes into a game always piques my interest though.

Warrior Within was, and remains, an embarrassment. The Dahaka was a great concept that was grossly mishandled, and the combat changes (while cool in concept) were mostly just a bit pointless, thanks to the fact that you can literally just ignore and run past every single enemy outside of the handful that show up during platforming segments.
