The camera isn't that bad once you get used to hitting the reset camera behind Ryu button. That's what helped me beat it on the 360.

So, Ninja Gaiden 3 (at least the updated Razor’s Edge) still had obliteration techniques. Its new major mechanic was “steel on bone,” where you could heavy attack into certain enemy attacks to instantly kill them with a QTE, and you could chain these attacks into multiple one-hit kills on surrounding enemies. I think they weren’t implemented as smoothly in vanilla NG3.

In Sigma 2, you actually FIGHT THE STATUE OF LIBERTY during the New York segment of the game. Of course it's not particularly well implemented as a small misstep from Sigma 2. Among the SEVERAL OTHER MISSTEPS.

If you're up for another character action game with very fast pace like Ninja Gaiden, but with more than enough identity of its own-- i implore you to play Magenta Horizon: Neverending harvest. Came out a few months ago. Absolute must for CAG fans. Set in an almost psychedelic/prog rock album cover art take of the afterlife, with a German psychopomp reaper lady as the protagonist. Has cool stuff like hooking attacks with the scythe to reset double jumps/dashes, healing grenades that make affected enemies heal you upon hit to REALLY incentivize being aggressive, on-landing instant charge attacks in different directions, all melee moves being unlocked right from the start, two different 'parries' being spells, being able to parry your other spells (like a ghostly hand and a turret fountain mushroom), charmsand over 60 different enemies and bosses. Good story too. Genuine phenomenon of a CAG and it's going woefully under the radar. The entire Act 1 of 3 is available as a demo. I also recommend Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, but in the time of intensely-paced tough CAGs, i more strongly encourage you to play Magenta Horizon.

Playing through normal and it's much easier than I remember OG being. I'm in the Venice castle level and I've only died once I think. I'm not especially good, get smacked around a lot, but it's definitely MUCH more forgiving

I thought it was a funny coincidence that this game was just dropped out of no where, around the time I actually ordered the original Xbox 360 version of NG II. I’ve been having a blast with it and yeah sure, I know NG II Black is the ‘definitive edition’ of the game but for now I’ll stick with the vanilla version until NG II Black is on sale. As for your time period question I think the more recent DOA games are like stuck in the early 2000s, so it’s safe to say NG II is also maybe a period piece of the 2000s (I could be incorrect! But it’s such a funny idea that these two pieces of media are essentially period pieces).

It's a mix of both og and sigma, it doesn't have the stupid statue bosses, but it has the different playable characters of sigma and the amount of enemies is higher again like the og and it has the gore again of course

While watching the video I noticed some things that are different from OG INinja Gaiden 2: You can do Izuna Drop from the start (in the original it waa an upgrade) There’s at least one extra puckup Enemies don’t seem to hit as hard The health bar is simpler (no unrecoverable health) Basically the gameplay experience seems a bit smoother, while still being REALLY DIFFICULT OUCH.
