After replaying Shattered Dimensions, it plays more like the ps2 God of War games than Arkham. Like mixing light and heavy attacks for different combos, launching by holding triangle, grab moves and Ultimate/2099 having their own "Rage of the gods" L3+R3 mechanic. TASM 1 had Arkham elements while the sequel was just a straight up clone.

Web of shadows for the wii is kind of different and I think it might be worth a look. If nothing else you can unlock a spider-carnage costume for the symbiote form unlike the main console version.

This is pretty much what I expected, and where I'd put everything... Maybe except TASM2, that was... Yeah.... Also, since both the TASM2 mobile game and Spider-Man Unlimited runner came out in 2014, it's quite interchangeable that both were the first appearance of Yuri Lowenthal as Spidey, and yet no one would ever know that because of how niche they were.

Spectacular video, and I worked really love to see you make more of these tier lists. One suggestion I have: maybe consider including a text version in the Description, as a Comment or even in a Webpage. It doesn't even need to include everything, but at least the Top 2/3 Tiers. Particularly for very populated lists like this one, it becomes hard to recap everything.

Great rankings! I myself felt that Insomniac's Spider-man 2 while absolutely nailing the gameplay, suffered in the writing department compared to the first game. I took the threats of the first game more seriously, while in the sequel it became so ridiculously over the top I was like, "Where are the Avengers?" lol

I personally loved the Spider-Man the arcade game. A local arcade at the time had all the marvel beat em ups. I would spend hours playing Spider-Man, X-Men, Punisher, & Captain America & the Avengers. Namor was the best to use in the game I think.

Very interested in your overall thoughts for Insomniac's Spider-Man 2. I have some minor nitpicky gripes like the suits and the variety of side activities, but i like the story, combat, web swinging and side missions overall much more in the sequel, though I do have some questions about the pacing and use of villains, especially around the end of 2nd act/beginning of act 3.

The DS version of Ultimate Spider-Man is probably my most played non-pokemon DS game. The fact that you could use the touch screen to pick things up with your tendrils as Venom was the coolest thing ever to 13-year-old me. I was very easily entertained apparently.

Yeah it was common for Atari 2600 games to be meh or just awful. There were some classics like Pitfall, Kaboom, Breakout, and Jungle Hunt and the subpar library does give the console a specific charm so for the time most of them were passable, and Spider-Man is no exception, so you can’t be TOO harsh on it.

If you want a fun Atari 2600 game, I recommend Seaquest. I played that for hours as a kid, before we got a Nintendo. I agree with the ones you mentioned above, especially Jungle Hunt.

I understand, but at the end of the day, there's not much to Ultimate Spider-Man, other than it looking good, and playing as Venom is fun. No interesting side-quests/activities, a tiny bit of city to explore, and no real reason to replay it. If I hadn't played it again to completion just a few years ago, I would have put it higher.

The Isomniac Spiderman games are exactly what I always imagined and wanted a Spider-man game to be as a kid. Like it ticks ALL the boxes. Other games may have done speicifc elements better or more to someone speicifc taste. But the isomniac games have it ALL and do it all so well. I cant imagine being a kid and having these games be your spiderman games. They are deserving of being the definitve spiderman video game expeirience in tne same way the Arkham games are for Batman.

Watching this video really makes me miss the era of gaming where there were three or four different versions of the same game happening all at once so when you got one movie out you could get multiple completely different games. Like with Spider-Man 2 you got literally four completely different games. Not all of them were great but I'm a superhero Fanboy enough to where I would want to play them all and I would enjoy them to at least a small degree. So I totally missed that area where we got a bunch of different versions of license games, hell I miss license games coming out for movies as a whole

Shattered Dimensions is a lot of fun and it's sad that the next game, Edge of Time, was a rushed mess in comparison. I especially appreciated in SD that you had four different Spider-Men who all controlled differently. Noir was mostly stealth combat only (outside of some boss fights) which was a wild change from the others.

The DLC for Insomniac Spider-Man ruined the game for me it exposed how much the story carried the dated gameplay because once you make 3 chapters about Hammerhead and Black Widow you realize things you didn’t see the first time. I ended up waiting a couple years to even best Miles as a result.

I'm not an apologist for Sinister Six, but I think it's objectively the worst game I beat 100%, because it was a mess of a game. I am strangely proud of beating it, though.
