Great video and excellent ranking format. Finally a tank streamer distinguishing and highlighting the difference between skill floor and ceiling. As a mostly pugging prot pala main the use of the Sac, spellwarding , LOH and interrupts etc can massively carry groups for certain mechanics/boss fights.

Very good video, I like how you explain every point very clearly and my dumbass who always needs visual support appreciates how clear this was made. Super good idea to have 2 different rankings for organized groups vs pug, I wish more people did that with their class videos to really get the message across because these videos shape the players perspective, if there's just one ranking based on organized high keys (which most are) then random casual pugs try to copy that and it just doesn't work anywhere near as good as they think it does. With a pug ranking like you did it gives a second perspective about what could be good for them when inviting random ragnaros players to brick their key. Great elevator music too, do you have a playlist?

@@rolandhellmann3819 BDK is still going strong though, potentially stronger than it has been in DF relative to other tanks (for now). Prot Pally is in a bind where it needs to be a bit tankier than other specs because it does not bring an offensive damage buff, and so much of M+ has devolved into "max damage stacking". If Prot Pally doesn't overcome that gap and be able to outperform the boost provided by Chaos Brand or MoW as your tank, it falls off. BDK excels because it lets pressure off the healer a bit. Prot Pally needs to be the same, but in a support role with defensive and WoG for teammates.

I don't want an op tank, just one that is strong enough to pull its weight and all the utility the Prot Pala gets doesn't help me in the range from +8 to +12 as this shouldn't be kite meta like +20.

Awesome vid! 🎉 Been playin' prot pally since the end of SL expac. Really enjoy it in DF and I think its gonna be fine in TWW. I still remember the pally talent tree shuffle at the beginning of DF. Right now it's not ideal but it was much worse IMO. Lotta dead talents in prot spec, which they really should iterate. Anyway, looking forward for launch :) The new Hero talents do him credit.

Could you do the list once more in ur comment, without the difficulty numbers factored in? Those numbers will only matter to most people for the first couple weeks of the season, and shouldnt discourage people from choosing an otherwise good tank for them :)

​@@psivern let's agree to disagree. ppl who shouldnt be discouraged by fancy meta talk vids with number games and/or pro feedback, are ppl who shouldnt feel targeted by those to begin with - as in for what they plan to or usually play it doesnt matter anyways and thats not a secret either. aim at weekly max vault and you can literally push the whole meta talk into the bin. nah-ah, it's about min/maxing here, pushing for 0,1% and beyond what makes it being made for you. you dont want that? - you dont need it. and actually couldnt care less. nothing new. everybody constantly repeats it nowadays. and rightfully so. and regarding redoing the list just to play elementary school level arithmetics: kinda feels like being trolled, tbh. did it once out of curiosity, shared it to share comfort, the rest is literally scroll to the according summary in the vid and add or remove the 1-digit numbers from the given results. you can do it. i believe in you.

Looking good. Great run down. I basically came here to help me decide between my DK, Warrior and Druid. I played my DK in season 1, Druid in season 2 and a bit in season 3 and then Warrior more predominantly in season 3. I didn't tank at all in season 4, opting for an Enhance Shammy instead. Come TWW I'm looking to get back into tanking and was concerned with all the doom and gloom about the tank nerfs. I've been leaning toward my Blood DK, but wanted to know if the Death Strike changes impacted it enough to make it not worth playing. I typically only sit around the 2100-2300 range. I pug with 2 other buddies. We don't take the game seriously enough to push any higher, and we don't really want to. We're comfortable where we're at around the M14-16 range. So it's good to know that no matter which of my 3 chosen tanks I decide to pick, I'll be in a relatively good spot come TWW.

the only thing i have to disagree with is prot war self sustain is not better than guardian self sustain...most of the things said factor into the prot war survivability and not the self sustain, cause once they drop they have to rely on the healer to top them where as guardian can mostly top themselves with frenzied regen and/or lunar beam

with this dragon fly and next expansion so far. I enjoy the Druid Tank for sure, self heals are crazy with about 1 minute CD if you use it the right with and that using about 2- 3 at a time , damage again also good with stacks, and all is fun and easy- hard if you use the things right

U forgot about a lot of utilities for brew. Like statue which is pretty usefull in some bait scenarios (like ataldazar) also his healing feels same as BDK but he got talent which transfer his overheal to HoT so he basically wont lose as much heal as DK so his solo sustain is little bit improved. Also RoP, paralysis and dispell is good for affixes, same goes for his slow from roll. Also paralysis now dispell enrage which is only second tank who can do that. Also fair is mention tiger lust which buff 3 targets rn and can dispell roots, its nice help for some situations or for entangled affix to healer so he can keep casting or have every 10 sec heal to group similiar to word of glory or chi burst, cant forget touch of death also which help to burst important targets like totems (Bracken hollow) or adds. For his deffs. With celestial build he got 2x shield with reseting brew he can have 4x stagger dispell and 4x shield. I think you understimate him too much and giving more utility to DK or warr or DH who can basically just cc, aoe stun and every 2 min sigil and silence feels so weird...

I preferred playing paladin as an off-healer. That worked really well with pugs in +20: infinite interrupts, and infinite healing. If the healer was shit and the puggers stood in every single fire, I was there to Word Of Glory the shit out of them. For example, most healers failed at the Nokhud elemental boss. With a healer prot paladin I healed more than most pug healers, lol. I remember Legion raid bosses where I was first on the heal lists (I mean, excluding self-heals, obviously). Sounds like this will not be possible anymore.

Yep, whenever another tank isn't broken defensively or offensively, Pala is the default meta tank (see shadowlands s2, dflight s1 and s2 before bear rework)

I played every tank up to +3k rio every season of this expansion and I never undrstood why monks are always considered hard to play. I mean paladin is harder to play imo but its always far below brewmaster. you have to rotate your defensives, you're very cooldown reliant, you have to stay in consecration, extend your wings, keep up your tier set buff, constantly have to look for casting mobs because you have infinite interrupts which also gives you holy power, you have to maintain shield of the righteous, you have to prep shining lights for incoming damage, you have a hard time to aggro on pull if divine toll and eye of tyr are on cd because your damage is very low and your avengers shield has a long cooldown and shield of the righteous is only a small frontal and consecration damage is a joke, you had to target change for each judgement to apply debuff, you had to prioritize using avengers shield before shield of the righteous to maximize damage, and with great abilities like sac and bop and lay comes great responsibility and you have to use them wisely

How are Brew's utility options 2/5? We have an aoe stun, aoe knockback/sleep, hard cc with paralysis, blessing of freedom/70% speed with tiger's lust, poison/disease cleanse, enrage removal, death grip, teleport, several different snares, 4% movement speed aura, magic debuff reflect with diffuse magic... and that's just off the top of my head.
