I never thought I would live to see the day but The Mechanicum are finally coming out in plastic. Hopefully we will see this faction represented on the table top much more often, in games of Warhammer Horus Heresy.

I really liked this type of video for new boxes and their contents, rather than just saying whats in the box, or value based on monetary cost. and it's great to see someone like yourself writing on books just as your viewers do. Even if you no longer reference it!

I'm a huge fan of the Triaros! I exclusively put Myrmidon Secutors in them, with phased plasma and some grav sprinkled in (for dreadnought deletion duty). They present a very dangerous target which is very hard to kill at range. I usually end up disembarking them in turn 1, since they certainly do want their guns blazing. Those extra inches of movement are really good and it stops them being pinned early on, which is my gravest enemy with our low Ld. You can also sling Myrmidon Destructors with Irradiation Engines in them, shoot straight up the board then disembark turn 2 to burn the hell out of the marine player's 'safe' tactical squads holding objectives. AND, once they've hopped out, you have the best ramming unit in the game. 2D6 S10 against infantry and D6+1 S10 against vehicles is absolutely hilarious. I'll be getting 3 boxes myself, and using all of those triari.

Yeah I do something similar! The triaros is almost worth it's points without anything in it! Also with mymidons you can use a movement reaction to embark them back into triaros if they get in trouble. I also regularly use 2 with 15 hoplites in each. They're a surprisingly tough unit that have too many special rules and can take out super heavies if not answered!

@@antonylittle685 I hadn't considered Hoplites, but that's a good point. Threatening your opponent with a Disruption bomb would be pretty funny. On a side note, I would never put Scylax in one, because Scylax fuckinggg suuuuckkk

@Winters, the best use for the Triaros that I have found is to bring one in a Divisio Titanicus detachment and bunging a big blob of Secutarii inside it. It's not obvious, but you don't actually need to bring a Titan to run the detachment. The compulsory slot is *either* a Lord of War or a Troops choice, which the Secutarii are. Secutarii Peltasts can be equipped with Radium Carbines, which makes them essentially just Skitarii Vanguard. They throw out a ton of shots. Add in the Axiarch (which is just a Skitarii Marshal) and you can give them a 5+ FNP. They're a solid light infantry unit which Mechanicum is otherwise lacking. Once they pop out, the Triaros can go cause havok by ramming things with it's goofy-yet-shockingly-effective ram. I'm planning on getting 2 or three of these, as they can really change up the Mechanicum game plan.

Love this! Agree and I use my triaros for these units, I run units of 20 with radium carbines but instead of FNP I usually give them preferred enemy infantry and have them hunt tactical squads

Thanks a lot for this review. I will purchase one box but i am a total machanicum noob. So it was good to get a general idea on how to build and equip the models from the box.

My model rating (I got 4 boxes) Thralls - will physically hurt you when assembling (11-15 parts per model, I assembled "only" 60 of those in one week of just grinding), yet monopose. They are ok looking without bayonets. If you have extras they may build nice Tech-Priest aux unit. Thallax - pretty good! just enough parts to get all the details sharp, almost all relevant weapon options (rad cleanser is missing), pretty much no articulation (you can do some torso twist if you cut connecting tabs). Looks nice! Castellax - no siege wrecker (it's not melee unit?), saws look boss, full compliment of heavy bolters (I actually like them despite AP4), 50% of possible melta and darkfire guns (boo!). I can live with not all options being present, models are nice and actually straightforward. Strong B+ Triaros - it's a tank. Standard GW box on threads. I plan to convert one into warcrimes mortar tank since top part is pretty much separate part (most likely to be replaced with Karacnos kit). I agree it is F-tier inclusion for this box, what will you ferry inside, Thralls? Myrmidons Secutors are another story tho. Shooty tank would be better.

Asesome review! Just pointing out that Thallax in the red book can't take rotor cannons, they can take multilasers for some reason? Never represented them with an actual mini though. Is a rotor cannon on the new datasheet? Or was it in the old books maybe? Proper use of a Triaros is getting in range with Myrmidon destructors equipped with Rad-Engines! But to be honest, Secutors with Plasma are just better at deleting large space marine squads, though they will delete some of their own number too...

Im getting 2 boxes, the new archmagos and thanatar when they come out, and then add my existing 3 armigers to proxy as moiraxes + a questoris knight for Lord of War. I think that's roughly 3k points

triaros i think is only useful if you use the mirimidons list with the proper magos and in that case you will use 2 unit of mixed plasma/gravweapons with this transoprt for have some type of mobiity because without thallax (or less thallax) you are a bit slow for missions

It's a bit gamey, but the new Marine character, the Optae, seems tailor made to babysit Tech Thralls. As long as it's IH, IW, RG, or SM he can sit with them and grant them Ld9 and rerolls on regrouping. Cheaper than a magos and the tax for doing so is a pair of marine squads, which will likely be scouts with nemesis bolters to give Mech the Precision Shots they sorely lack.

The other important thing about the Darkfire is that it has “lance” to reduce armor value to 12 For the Triarch, can you still stick Secutarii peltasts or hoplites in them?

I'll never forgive GW for giving Mech the Triaros for 135 points and giving it 3 guns, AV14 and a Flare shield. But solar Aux gets a Gravis Lascannon only for 175pts, at AV13, and no flare shield and we dont even get to reroll Dangerous terrain for free like we used to, like the Triaros does.

I wish mechanicum had a rule where they get plus 1 to hit in close combat. It would mitigate the new weapon skill chart somewhat. Regular tactical marines would still hit them on 3, but at least Mechanicum could hit back on 4s.

Very much appreciate this incredibly granular run down. Really disappointed they put the Triaros in plastic. It's really silly looking while other Mecanicum units they could have done are some of the best looking Heresy units ever made. Definitely a head scratching decision.
