I stopped playing MK11 after a year because they kept nerfing and taking options away from characters, it got boring super fast. MK1 was the complete opposite. It began super boring and slow, but multiple patches lead to this game slowly becoming my second favorite NRS game, after MKX of course.

I havent seen anyone discuss the fact that the dlc for mk1 has a pretty interesting theme. We have Tv characters, movie characters and kp3 will probably have video game characters, which is really cool. The picks themselves i wish were better, but im moreso into gameplay than anything else, so I'm excited.

This is my ranking list for all the Mortal Kombat games I played (Not alot since I only played 4 of them so far): (Top to bottom) 1. MKX 2. MK1 3. MK Trilogy 4. MK11 MK11 isn't terrible, it's just too slow for me and that kills the fun MK11 has, especially regarding MKX.

MK1 is the best mortal kombat game of all time and i used to play the old ones 30 years ago. It brought me back to the franchise. I played X quite a bit, I didn't like 11. But MK1 is special, its unique yet still familar and what we expect. In 10 years time people will look back and appreciate it more.

Fun backstory to MK Special Forces. The original version shown at E3 was completely different. It had Jax & Sonya, different camera angles, different stages, and a different story. John Tobias left Midway around that time and the game was quickly reworked into the game we got. Which was vastly different from what was intended.

MK2 is goated. The gameplay wasn't the greatest but it's better than the first. The atmosphere/stages/soundtrack were the greatest of all mk games, hands down. That game was MORTAL KOMBAT

Nice list but I'd personally put MK9 above MKX. MKX the problem is that the meta is braindead run up 50/50s. To be fair every MK game and fighter has some busted stuff to it or the S tiers with stupid nonsense in it...MK4 gets way too much hate imo. But yeah UMK3, MK9 and MK2 the GOAT for sure I feel by a good majority of MK fans who've been around since the first. MK 11 and MK1 are mid to me. MK1 would have been so much better if we had a NON-Kameo mode imo....

Call me crazy but my favourite is MK1 as in the newest one. I think this game managed to achieve a great balance between not being completely broken and unfair like MKx and MK9 but not toned down like MK11. I love the Kameo system as well but I think the biggest of this game is that number 1: it was rushed. Many characters in the roster are bland, unfinished or just filler picks like Reiko who's the best example of a character the devs didn't give a damm about. And 2: balancing has been poor since launch. The meta hasn't really changed at all since Raiden and Baraka were nerfed, only thing that happened is that new broken character were added to the game as DLC and theu joined the top tiers. You've got two characters with Sindel and Johnny who have been top 5 since the launch of the game and Sindel didn't get a single nerf after over a year even through she's completely busted and toxic as hell. The poor balancing made the meta go stale and made players drop the game. The homelander meta lasted for 6 months straight in which he was dominating the game uncontested. If the balancing of this game was better it would've had much more competitors in EVO

just now getting cross play, kameos aren't playable, really mid tier voice acting sadly, rinse and repeat multiverse story in the 3rd half and the lack of content is so insanely bad. Invasion is boring, tower rewards are not promising, way to many micro transaction that can be grinded, no krypt or test your luck/tym and a pointless story expansion I mean the game is just flat out contentless.

MK1 is the worst in the NRS Saga. WAY less content than MK11 (outfits, towers, GAMEMODES; remember when U had 3 COOP towers which were sick; invasions is a repetitive BORING piece of shit) and it is BORING. Imo MKX has the best gameplay and to be COMPLETELY honest watching anything MKX and 11 related is BETTER than watching anything MK1 related. Tournaments, matches, challenges etc. like even right now I am still watching your MK11 videos because they are so much more entertaining to watch and that's because of the game.

I've never ever deleted an MK game before until MK11... I mean, I still have MK9 and MKX, but MK11 wasn't just clicking for me. The main reason that determines me playing an MK game is the gameplay, and that is the main department that everyone has a bone to pick with MK11. Granted, the game has contents and skins, but then again, the gameplay is what defines the game, and about skins, originally in MK all we use to have was the main skin and maybe one or two alternate costumes up untik MK11... so not having costumes is not really an issue for me. I mean, when I had MK11, all my characters were rocking their default skins, I've never ever tried customizing anyone ever, and like wise in MK1, everyone is just rocking their main skin

Honestly great list, although I would have swapped UMK3 with MK2. It had a great mix of fantasy, Asian and horror elements to the music and stages where UMK3 went for a more modern, action movie vibe with the cyborgs and stages based on real life Chicago. I just prefer 2's stages and atmosphere despite 3 being awesome too. Also I think 3's Fatalities are kind of same-y. Happy my favorite Deception is GOATed though.

As a fighting game player of 26 years ( Street Fighter , Tekken and Mortal Kombat ) My MK Tier list is 1- MK9 ( Legendary ressuraction of a dead legendary fighting game serie) 2-MK11 ( Best dynamics in a fighting games i have ever seen. Customizations, KBs, Wake up options.) Only breakaway was wrong. 3-MK3 OG ( Ultimate ninjas are so lazy and just color swaps. No originality) 4-MK2 ( Gameboy port was very good also ) 5-MK4 ( Still carries the core essence of mortal Kombat) 6-MK1 OG Shaolin Monks is so good and very fresh and brave vision. Bad MK game: MKX ( its awful and really terrible gameplay, bad easthetic, no tactic no footsie... Its just terrible ) Ps2 MK games are trying to be Tekken but they cant. Bad gameplay so laughable looking animations. Only intros were cool MK1 doesnt have identity. No need to talk about it. MK vs DC ( No identity , bad gameplay ) MK Subzero ( Trying somethings but bad stage designs and bad difficulty balance kills the game. Controls were weird ) MK Jax ( No identity )

I'd say mk11 is goated. It has problems, but the biggest problem was that devs was trying too much experimental stuff and when some of that stuff went wrong - they gave up on the game too fast. Breakaway as one of a core mechanics was absolutely shit not gonna lie. However it could be somewhat fixed, at least breakaway into whiff punish should absolutely not be a thing, and its easy fix to that: increase knockdown time for player who broke away. Same with krushing blows. KB's felt AWESOME. I mean really it was so good! Little cinematic hit that could be start of a comeback or something, it is exciting! And again KB's was not done properly, some of them was too weak, some was literally impossible to hit in a real match, and some was too strong. Just tune its damage and requirements and its all good! Same with character balance, just patch it. Besides that stuff mk11 was great, it introduces KL which is awesome! At its base mk11 had simple and very clear game rules which is good for new people, which is greatly appreciated by me especially. And the gameplay was skill based, you do staggers, neutral and so on which felt FAR MORE SATISFYING than mixing opponent up in mk1. Really, playing mk1 getting me boring very fast, you forced to do cheap stuff in mk1 coz everybody else do it, but I dont feel good winning like that.

a big mk11 problem was the kb system I was ok with the down2 kb or kb's used to extend combos but kb's like subs overhead or geras's grab is just damage without working for it.
