@@Mullkaw The problem with the door is that it's the most unnecessarily hidden collectable in the game. You have to know the areas with the large rocks are fake walls, the path to Gerome and the completely hidden door. If they made it look like there was something there, like you could peek through the wall or there was like an arrow or something, then it'd be a bit fairer. Every other secret has some indication that something is there, the crudely drawn eyes, or an inconspicuous gap you need to slide through or you just straight up see Gerome and need to figure out how to get to him, but that door.... no hints, it's almost completely hidden and you only realize how it's revealed AFTER you've gotten it. I'm sure many people still don't know there's something odd with the rocks cause it looks like the rest of the level background.

Yeah I can't really tell why. unlike other levels like Peppibot factory and Ancient Cheese where it's kind of clear if you play the levels enough, Gnome Forest I actually kind of enjoyed. It's not my favorite, but I think a large part of it has to do with either liking to play as Gustavo, or thinking Peppino should be the only playable character. Given Noise kind of controls more like Gustavo than Peppino... they're in for a kind of rough "part 2".

I feel like ancient cheese is such an underrated level. Floor 1 is a baseline, so they don't try and overwhelm you, and it works, the level is built with a path that will undoubtedly lead you to secrets or Gerome, which were way more hidden in previous levels. I know some people also like to complain about the lack of transformations, but in my opinion, that works to the benefit of most levels. Transformations are usually "just OK", think barrel or pizza box. As well as this, floor 1 has literally a single transformation, that being knight armor, unless you count firebug (posers). The bomb gameplay also doesn't slow you down as much as you think it does, most bomb sections are literally 1-3 seconds, barring the secret, which also doesn't take that long. The cheese platforms are also pretty important. They're used in a lot of levels after this, being both in regular levels, and secrets, so having a baseline knowledge from this level is good to have. The level is also AMAZING for speedrunning, at least in my opinion. Where John Gutter is the baseline, Ancient Cheese is the trial by fire, being significantly harder to speedrun, but can end up with pretty similar times if playing above a casual level, and I do think I have a say in the speedrun discussion for these two levels, having ~1:30 in Gutter, and ~2:20 in Cheese respectively. You might say those times are not at all similar, but a 2:20 is 20 seconds short of the John Gutter achievement, for a level almost twice as long. TLDR: Ancient Cheese is good because it lets you discover secrets, is beginner friendly with a lack of transformations, the gameplay remains fast-paced, even with bombs, and the level is great for getting into casual level speedruns.

Hehe I think he was a little harsh with that critique, I mean it's literally the first level, it's not meant to be some explosive, exotic theme. Kind of like Hall of Heiroglyphs in Wario land 4, it's more like the "entrance to the tower itself" and I think that the level theme fits very well for that. Basically the level theme IS the story of the game, and teases at what's holding up the tower. Especially since canonically this is the first time Peppino realizes the consequence of destroying the support pillar of the tower as he climbs his way up.

John Gutter does have a concrete theme! It's *the first level!* It's modeled and mapped based on several first level tropes, but so well made you won't notice it.

Yeah it's theme is literally "The Pizza tower itself" as it introduces you to the game's plot, the fact that these John statues are what's holding up the tower and need to be destroyed. It's one of those brilliant cases of telling the story through level design rather than through obvious text. Technically Pizza scape is the REAL first "themed" level. while Gutter John is more like the training stage where you put what you learned in the tutorial into practice. No gimmicks, just Peppino and John. It's the only level that doesn't have a transformation at all (well if you count Gustavo as one, and yes that includes the bad ones like getting burned, though Bloodsauce Dungeon and Gnome Forest are the only ones without a UNIQUE transformation in that case... and technically War if you count the Gun being used in Don't make a sound, but I digress). All of floor one teaches you a mechanic of the game, but John Gutter is the most general and basic.

Hehe Oh Shoot is the longest level in the game and it's mostly a network of pipes. Pretty fun level when you get used to it, but it's length does make P rank attempts grating after awhile.... at least Golf, the other fairly long level is more tranquil as you can reset your combo every time you hit the golf ball so you don't need to rush. (I heard that wasn't the case before though....and it made the P rank so diabolical the devs had to fix it....)

I honestly feel like Fake Peppino is the best boss in the game, in my opinion. With all of these bosses that make you look for an opening to attack them, it's fun to have a boss that you can just wail on.

He's a chaotic boss, but what makes him great is that he's 100% fair. NOTHING about his fight ever feels unfair. it's always YOUR fault if you get hurt because you freaked out and thought he had a permanent hurt box. He actually doesn't hurt you for like 90% of the time, only when the red streaks appear does he damage you (and those star things). So treat him like a bullet hell and he's actually really enjoyable.

The "point of no return" you mention at 8:40 is actually a point you return to! In the escape sequence, you pass by the secret door again, and it's quite easy to hit it on your way out in either the first or second lap. I actually forgot to grab it on my first pass of a P-rank run, and you can even maintain your combo if you grab it during the escape

I’m aware I’m two months late, but I genuinely think Wasteyard is slept on. The level flows really well, the transformations are fun, and Tombstone Arizona is probably my favorite track in all of pizza tower.

It was one of my fastest and easiest P ranks. and thus I agree, it's a LOT better than it sounds. Though.... it could be the ghost gameplay was REALLY that bad long ago. There's a lot of things that were patched over the years that impact how people feel about the game. Like back when Fake Peppino's chase had him as fast as you ran so you had to be PERFECT, and given how stressful his fight is up to that point, I'm kind of glad they nerfed it to make the P rank I worked so hard for not lost because I fumbled that. (though...they could've made him a BIT faster.... You kind of split and never see him again even if you screw up completely)

Hoesntly ,the only palcemnt im disappointed at was pizzascare's. I persoanlly think its a fun ride . The exorcist gimmick encourages you to use speed and time properly and allows you go at high speeds during several segments. Speed is a main thing of this game ,so having a slice of it is always delightful. The ghost king gimmick is where i can see why you would have problems wiht the level. But i think its still great.

What I love is the sense of finality it has. Pizzascape being THE Pizza Tower level makes Pizza Scare all the more poetically strong. On top of that, it's a fun nod to the development of the game which I always love.

Yeah I think the 5th floor not being revealed in the opening (as it only shows 4 bosses and the 4th one, Fake Peppino is kept a top secret (even in the achievements it's blanked out and ??? ed) until you fight him...literally as even the title card throws a curve ball. So when you get to the 5th floor, the last 3 levels are where the gloves come off. Pizzascare has the invisible ghosts that will ruin your combo if you're not on point. Don't make a sound is the only case where an enemy attacking you completely resets your combo instead of cutting it in half like most enemies, and WAR is basically Pizza time for the whole level where if you run out of time, you die instantly, no pizza face to run away from. So the last 3 stages really do thier job of making the path to the final boss test everything you learned up to this point and expect mastery. Doesn't mean it isn't a b8tch, but at least it's honest about being a b8tch.....unlike Peppibot factory... and those d8mn plugs....

the only gripe I have with WAR is the one accolade where to have to beat it first try on a save file in order to get new clothes. having to reset a save file or start a new one and having to play the entire game until you reach this level over again just to get new clothes is just unnessessarily tedious. Gnome Forest and Pizza Scare deserve their own tier for having unfair P-ranks, Gnome Forest has that bit during the escape where there are almost no toppings which makes it very likely for you to lose your P-rank and Pizza Scare has that ramp that will make you lose your P-rank if you touch so much as a pixel of it

I think mostly because this is the first time you play as Gustavo and he's playable for most of the level. You really want to take your time to learn how Gustavo controls, then it's not so bad. My tip: Remember you can use Brick as a projectile. THAT move used in the right spots really makes the P rank. Don't just lairat into every enemy you see like you're peppino, kick Brick and stay away from the projectiles. It was one of the easier P ranks for me on floor 3. (Well that and I was good enough to get the last secret first try every time after doing some counting to time the jumps).

Ancient cheese in b tier is not something I agree with, personally. Every bomb section takes maybe a second or 2 to finish at most. I've only P ranked the entire first floor, along with the noise, fake peppino and war, but my GOD pizzascape was a BITCH to P rank. I was stuck losing my combo to the stupid knight transformation and forknights. The only reason I even managed to P rank it was because I was LITERALLY RIGHT AT THE DOOR one time but I ran out of time and pizzaface got me, and I never even got close to that ever until somehow got a massive frame rate drop which I just used to improve my reaction time and finally be done with the level. I might eventually go back to do a legit P rank

I think Pizzascare does its job well. Pizzascape is not only one of the most iconic levels, but it’s also the first real level of the game with John Gutter acting more like a tutorial level. Having Pizzascare take you back to where it all began with a remix of spaghetti just feels right.

@@itsbazs112 Y’know, my opinions have changed since I wrote this comment. Deep dish nine is not my least favorite level anymore. Don’t get me wrong. I think it’s still mid as hell. But Crust Cove is so unbelievably boring it makes me want to claw my eyes out. RRF is pretty mid too.

ACTUALLYYYYY the noise DOES have some kind of an attack pattern. let me explain, so in my experiences of P ranking 'DA NOISE' he always does 2 of each move in phase 1 and 2 butt if you hit him while he flips you off at the start, one of his attacks get cancelled in phase 1 but, if you dont hit him and do the boss normally, you'll see that he will do each attack twice.

I actually had the same experience, in my case when I hit Noise when he does his taunt at the start it counted as a skateboard attack pattern, that means that if you get the skateboard attack after the taunt trick Noise will jump :D

Yeah I noticed that too, sometimes he does his attacks twice and the 2nd time is the harder version (on the 2nd pogo stick he drops a bomb on the last bounce, on the 2nd balloon he drops 2 bombs, on the 2nd jetpack he bounces around more)
