tbh the sand scene is like one of the best written scenes in starwars(ignoring the dialogue, hes like 19 years old, this is how anxious teenagers talk with girls) the previous dialogue with padme is her talking about her laying on the sand after school anakin responds with the “i dont like sand” line sand reminds padme of summer holidays and the beach which contrasts what anakin feels as sand reminds him of his upbringing as a slave and how he left his mother on tatooine anakin also used to build electronics as a kid so it sould be understandable why he hates sand because of how it affects his stuff padme is nostalgic while anakin is in love and is trying to have a meaningful conversation anakin then compares tatooine to naboo, and how padme is so much like naboo, connoting his love of padme you could also reach further and say that anakin hates sand because like his life, the harder he tries to hold on to it the faster it falls foreshadowing padme’s death, while also emphasising that anakin has almost never felt freedom, whether it was watto, the jedi order or later sidious he always had to serve a higher power until his death

It isn't even horrible from a training perspective. Anybody who has done a martial art has done basic drills. I'm pretty sure we see Padawans doing the same in some Prequel scenes. It can look silly when it's one person doing it, though. More of a group activity.
