The Minutemen would’ve been really interesting if they had more of an actual storyline
@Shawnmiller19032 күн бұрын
i know theres a few side quests that count towards the minute men so long as you side with them. but one quest that I would of liked is a recruitment quest, going around the commonwealth and convincing high ranking members of other faction or senior members of the old minutemen that still fought for the cause in their own way. some of them can be talked to, while others might have their own quest or just have a multi step stage quest to have them agree to join the minute men. eventually you could assign senior members of the minutemen to different settlements making them minutemen outposts or bases, then go to war with the gunners after the main quest with destroying the institute. idk thats just my idea

Yeah, like the lore for the Quincy massacre really shows that they fought to the bitter end.

I’d say they’re in the same boat as Yes Man, they don’t really have a in depth story-line because they’re more of a fail safe ending than anything, though I’d say the Minutemen are a smidge better than the Minutemen in terms of aesthetic, also being an actual faction. (Still love Yes Man though)

The Minutemen are the player character faction. The players can have whatever head cannon we want and in mine, the vault dweller built like 20 cities the size of Diamond City, and single handedly killed hundreds of raiders, mutants, synths, monsters, rats and annoying bugs. Things are looking up with the Minutemen, once I got here.

Since you mentioned there were multiple sects of the Children of Atom, I might have been a bit harsh to judge each one as a psychotic nut job when playing Fallout 4. My reason for this was for three reasons: first was the terminal found in a junkyard (forgot the name but it is close to the Starlight Drive In) where there are corpses of Children of Atom and a horde of Mole Rats. The terminal has entries about how this group slaughtered a small group of caravan traders who simply came near to do business. The moment I read that, I put the Children of Atom on my kill-on-sight list. Second was a small little camp settled near Dunwich Borrows. Those guys just straight up attacked me the moment they saw me and I was just passing by. Third was Fall harbor. I never completed it, only barely scratching it's surface but hearing that the Children of the Vault were probably the ones who had something to do with the fog was the final nail in the coffin. Were there any moments outside Fallout 3 with Megaton where the Children of Atom weren't a menace professor?
@danf3201Күн бұрын
You can meet a very peaceful group of Atomites in the Glowing Sea where they worship and can ask for directions, also in fairness to the ones in Far Habour, they didn't cause the Fog, it's been on and off there since the war, and the Children only turned hostile after Alan Lee shot one of their preachers, who while he was talking about Far Harbour turning off the Condensers and trusting Atom to protect them, the preacher never touched nor tried to damage the Condensers in any way.
@KageDarkAngelКүн бұрын
@@danf3201 I will have to progress further in both the main story and the Far Harbor DLC then. Furthest in the Glowing Sea I got was just an Enclave Bunker from the Creation Club. Thanks for the update on that.

There's also the story piper tells, where she was almost killed but pretended to have an epiphany. To be fair though, some groups of CoA are friendly, like in the glowing sea, and the ones in far harbor weren't solely responsible for the resentment. Many unfortunate circumstances, and if things would have been a little different, they might have been friendly with the settlers in far harbor.

One thing I will say actually two things about The Minutemen killing the Brotherhood's squires one maybe its not the best idea to bring children into an active warzone and two don't station those children on a viable military target. Also this is irrelevant and non-cannon but I find it funny anyway children are immortal and don't actually die when you blow up the Prydwen.

My favorite fallout faction in the whole series is honestly the railroad. Hot take, i know, but i have a soft spot for the underdog and i also like guerilla warfare tactics. I like the art of assassination and subterfuge, and i think synths deserve a life free of the institutes tyranny and enslavement. I also REALLY like the enclave. As far as morals go, i think the minutemen are the best. They're essentially a communist charity militia who provide the commonwealth defense, resources, and community, all without attacking their freedoms like the legion do. Basically anarcho syndicalists or anarcho communists lol.

Great video first off. For the Followers, I know it's only the one guy and I don't know how much he is still connected to them, but Tom Anderson who operates in Westside in New Vegas I think is at least worth mentioning. He helped steal water from the NCR pumps for the people and when a trooper went alone to investigate, Anderson murders him and tries to convince the player to help cover it up and Arcade is fine with doing that as long as the water keeps flowing. You also incur Follower infamy if you kill him when he refuses to be arrested and charged with the murder. As for the Minuteman, I honestly think a cooperation between them and the Brotherhood is a much better resolution if it was possible, but that's beside the point.
@thelordofthelostbraincells2 күн бұрын
Yeah, but knowing this group of b.o.s, they'll probably eventually start to put they're boots in the throats of the minutemen and Commonwealth. And if they've found all they're looking for, they probably suck the Commonwealth of any useable resources and tech.
@Scott_Forsell2 күн бұрын
All the factions and pretenders to the throne suck. Morally, logistically, style, vibes... yeah, no. NCR is probably gonna win in the end: mass and logistics and infrastructure. I usually do the Clint Eastwood / Sergio Leoni Man With No Name trilogy thing: arrive in town, decapitate all the factions, create a power vacuum, and leave the locals to figure it out. Just walk away. Let go. The one faction I could actually sort of stand behind is FO4's Minutemen. But they are so effing pathetic. Okay, you met me two days ago and I'm now "The General". I reenact the plot of Yojimbo.

I can't possibly side with Minutemen because I had my first migrane in 2016 thanks to Preston Garvey. I can't side with railroad because as a human they dont represent my well being. I can't side with institute because they are are evil just for the sake of being evil without reason. So I side with BOS because last thing we need is synthentic people stealing our jobs and women, whole faction is based on warcrimes witch goes hand and hand with Nate the Rakes sarcastic personality. Oh and power armour, laser weapons and big ass robot. My reasons are clear.

I would say Minutemen with the right management, the rest have got leaders who solely dedicate to one objective and annihilate all else. Whereas Minutemen is more manageable, it accepts Ghouls, Synths, Robots - denies raider folk though. I can never join the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 4 due to their behavior and beliefs under mini Maxson, I'd rather the way Lyon's Brotherhood was in Fallout 3. If it wasn't for Railroad solely being focused on Synths' well-being, I'd say they would be like the Minutemen and could easily ally under good management.

Im going to keep writing this as I go along, but I’m so happy you made this, especially based off of Mr. Rogers. Minutemen: I adore these guys. Yes they’re very good almost to a fault, but I wish they had more of a story. At least more than two main members to talk with (I don’t think Sturges counts even if he’s prime material). Taking Quincy back and having it as a settlement would be nice. Followers of the Apocalypse: I admittedly haven’t been in NV as long as I have the Commonwealth, but this assessment is spot on from the short time I’ve spent with them. Lyons: Screw Maxson. I’m currently working on a companion mod that has my character from fallout 3 take over for Sarah after she was killed in battle. It’s slow going, but progress is being made. Think Dance Dilemma but with faction changing consequences because Annabeth isn’t a nut job. The BoS should not be looked at in such high regard as they are. A bunch of religious fakers who do nothing but hurt everyone including themselves. And again, screw Maxson. New Cannan: Again, NV is not my game, but Joshua alone makes this faction. I’m so used to seeing people use religion as an excuse that I often forget that the purpose of it is to bring people together, Christianity is set on the ideals of protecting those who cannot protect themselves. The Kings: Goodneigbor from FO4 is actually a good parallel for these guys. Outcasts from a city they once called home living for themselves in pure defiance. I’d argue that you put them a little low considering they give you a robot dog but that can be amended. Children of Atom: I feel like these guys would make more sense in an “Ugly” section instead of the good and the bad. They are just, weird. Fine in their own world but like other religions their way has to be the one that is right, and others must be purged. We haven’t see the “Crusades of Atom” yet, but I can see that happening soon. Responders: I adore these guys. Just good people doing good things for the good of the world. Good. There’s a mod that has them in the commonwealth and I adore it, it’s always in my load order. Overall, great list. I can’t complain about any of the placements. Thanks for reading this ramble!

Honestly I think it's kind of unfair to dock points from the minutemen in the unwarranted death category because of the squires I think it speaks more to the evil of the brotherhood for using children as human Shields more so than the minutemen for being backed into a corner by the brotherhood and being forced to artillery shell them A regrettable outcome but due to the players actions not the factions it becomes a matter of survival Unwarranted deaths are deaths not required for survival but if they didn't use artillery on the prydwen they would not survive which makes those deaths necessary to survival and thus not unwarranted But that's just my opinion

Considering difering thematic between Black isles/obsidian and bethesda version of the mythos, think its not a good idea to mix the two; as in Black isles and obsidian version underlying story is about rebuilding post post apocalyptic world, where resource managment and survival of the group take precidence over morality, which in fact has been hinderence to required pragmatism in forming societies, as none that lasted did so whitout ruthless self preservation. Bethesda narratives are opposite in that underlying stories are often good versus evil, where virtue of being good is actually a virtue and narativly rewardead. My point being how can one compare states of morality from two difering mythoses that either view it as hinderence or virtue respectivly, whit objective relativity and than call it an acurate ranking?
