You love to see it. J110TS-GT was a nice choice at an even better price, and you showed off well how this type of jacket works great for styles outside the typical 'techwear uniform' (the J96, J94 and J101 are some other good examples of this). In case anyone's interested, a few extra thoughts/info: The tech-sys webbing is actually military-standard MOLLE - this means you can attach pretty much any military pouch/accessory to it instead of being restricted to Acronym stuff (because let's face it, not everyone wants to drop an extra 100 euros on a bonus tiny pocket). To be honest, the webbing placement on the J110 makes it slightly awkward to attach additional pockets anyway, so hanging things via a carabiner (as you showed in the video) is probably the best use aside from very small MOLLE attachments. The hand pockets are bilateral, so on top of the forward space you'd expect normally with a pocket you can put your hands in toward the back of the jacket too, giving you double the space. They tend not to mention this on product pages so people often forget about it. RE the sling - Acronym has a patent on that specific sling design (a messenger bag-style strap with quick adjustment), so that's why you'll never see it show up on other respectible outdoor brands. Some brands (e.g. Nikelab ACG, Maharishi, The North Face) have used backpack-style slings which function fairly similarly, and more recently Acronym has been using a 'zip sling' as an alternative system. Imo this is a bit of an underrated jacket from Acronym - it doesn't have the same level of overt technical aesthetics that some of their best-known models do, but the MA1-style cut combined with the reflective back panel give it a lot of personality and wearability with different aesthetics. Again, good pickup!

Respect for holding out until it was a more sensible price, that was a great move! Quite refreshing to see someone online manage their wardrobe in a more relatable way

15 years ago, a friend comvinced me to buy a very simple black Jil Sander down jacket because it was 85% off, less than a North Face, and i lacked a legitimately warm jacket. I still use it each winter and have never even considered adding anything else in that role. From that perspective, getting this is the ideal move. You'll never have to think about rain gear again. Maybe you'll end up doing a 5, 10, 20 year retrospective review series!

That sounds like such a good pickup! Glad to hear it’s lasted you for so long. I’m hoping I can wear this for many many years as well.

Acronym goretex shells are most definitely rain jackets. I own quite a few and the main purpose for them is to keep me dry in wet weather and even downpours. I rarely wear them when it’s dry, or even windy conditions. I feel that wearing goretex shells for anything other than to keep dry is a waste. Great choice 🙌⚡️⚡️

Love this coat. And Size small looks terrific for you! I want a rain coat but I’m struggling to decide if I want something that will cover my thighs or something shorter.
@JamesLeung4 күн бұрын
Thank you mate! I was having the same dilemma. I prefer the freedom of movement of shorter jackets so that made the decision for me!

Its a bit of myth that Britain is exceptionally wet. Manchester for example is the wettest city in England but has a lot less rainfall than places like New York, Tokyo and Auckland for example. I think its because compared to the Mediterranean (which is close of course), its really wet here but thats more a function of how dry it is there.

James, I found a U.S. Army issued beautifully worn, Field Jacket made in the 1970s, at a cool vintage store located in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. It fits perfectly, lots of character because of the wear, fading, and worn out sleeve cuff. I’m a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, 22 years on active duty. I’m not inclined to wear the trending military clothes, but this jacket looks awesome in jeans; and I think it’s going to look great in dark grey wool trousers, and navy blue and tan khaki, trousers. It fits me perfectly, I looked in the mirror and saw John Rambo staring back at me. Must have been because I was wearing my black Iron Rangers, and dark denim Rodd & Gunn jeans, with a light grey crew neck Uni sweatshirt 🎉 Another excellent vlog. Well done

I’ve been considering Rains or Stutterheim rain jackets which for a couple of years now. Around £200 rrp. They don’t look technical so would go with most outfits. The only downside is they are not breathable. Been caught out in the rain so many times the last few months.

Great purchase, James. It looks absolutely great on you 👍 and you know your coat is classic and forever practical. I have this thing where I don’t understand why some people have a go at me for spending my money on something I know I will wear possibly forever in my short life if I know it will make me feel happy. There are people who spend enormous amounts of money on things like boring cars and holidays that no one bats an eye, but as soon I purchase an expensive well made coat that would last me all my life they seem to have a problem . I love the coat . I would definitely purchase it myself if I had a thin and athletic body shape like yours.

This is really cool rain jacket! Though the first thing came to mind when I read the title of “ultimate rain jacket” was a rubber rain jacket😂 I have bomber jacket of alpha industries, and its silhouette is amazing, a bit loosen and boxy, short but not too short. I believe it was not made of goretex or any similar material to get water resistant, but it did keep me dry in the light rain. I always want to find a similar silhouette rain jacket, and thank you for sharing this amazing one!

Wow. The fit of that jacket is perfect for you. I can relate, I went without a proper rain jacket for years until I found an Arcteryx NWT in a thrift store for almost nothing. I get compliments on it all the time. Unfortunately the hood is terrible, but I'm not complaining. Fortunately it doesn't rain as much here in New England! Congratulations, you will never regret buying quality.
