so theres heathers the musical, and theres the heathers, which is a movie made in the late 80s. the musical was inspired by the movie, and their stories VERY **slightly** deviate from eachother. its barely noticeable though. im not sure which one you wanna watch first, because you can watch either first, it wont matter, but if i could reccomend the movie first i would. (i just like the movie better, lol)

Heathers was an old movie the musical was based on, but the movie Mean Girls was also inspired by and meant to be Heathers for Kids. The movie was great and the musical has some amazing songs but the animatics may be your best bet on that. A stage production not done by schools seems hard to find.

Heathers is like the original mean girls but a lot more dramatic and way darker, if you do end up watching the heathers I do recommend the musical more then the movie, the movie is really good and was made before the musical but it can be a lot more confusing at times ( plus you get all the amazing singing)

There is a heathers pro shot like Hamilton on Roku. It is the west end cast in London though. The US original version was an off broadway production and never went to broadway. It does not have an “official” legal filmed version but the Roku one is. It is a bit different though then the original.

The whole point of Heathers is about the girl Veronica murders one of her best friends with her boyfriend, and she was part of their friend group known as the Heathers, because ironically, all their names were Heather, their leader who always wore red was her biggest competition but also her best friend things started getting out of her hand with her boyfriend basically getting let’s say trigger happy. And she tried to break up with him, but then he told her about this plan to blow up the entire school and tricked all the students to sign one big “sue of side” note. He broke it to her house and told her the plan and she tricked him to make him think that she took her own life so she could stop him.

You’d enjoy hadestown! It’s about the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice but a bit modernized to be set in the vague early 1900’s so it has a very strong aesthetic and it’s pretty popular so I’m sure most if not all of the songs have animatics, the only problem is because of the way they separate the songs (a lot of them have short intros and there are also some instrumentals in there) it might be hard to get a full comprehensive listen just from animatics bc of what the animators choose to include :)

My favorite version of Heathers is the Off-Broadway one (the one that these audio recording come from), but unfortunately there isn't an official video release of that one, the best you can find are camera recordings on youtube, to my knowledge the only official video recording of the musical that exists is one of the London production that was release on the Roku channel, but besides that the rest are just cam recordings, the London version has some differences, different cast of course, but also it replaces some of the songs with new ones, I personally don't like it as much, then there's also the og movie that the musical is based on, but sadly it isn't a musical 😔 I saw someone in the comments recommending "The guy who didn't like musicals" and I also recommend that musical, it's from a more indie production called Team starkid, the great thing about them is that they post their musicals free on youtube, they've made a lot of great musicals
