First Burn is Eliza it’s just a lot of her 😭 They used multiple of the women who played Eliza in different Hamilton casts to record the song.

The creator of the musical (Lin Manuel-Miranda) noticed First Burn would be hard to do live (multiple vocals, high notes, etc.), so that's why the song was reworked into Burn :)

Also he changed it to fit the tone and narrative of the stage play so he changed it to the Burn that’s in the show. I’m glad he saved and made First Burn because it makes Eliza even more dynamic

Yeah I think both first burn and congratulations not being in the show has more to do with how you feel about the characters afterwards like you hate Hammy rather than feeling bad for Eliza and that would make it hard to care about his death or her coming back into the story, but I’m glad he kept the rough drafts 😊

The first song I heard from Hamilton was Battle of Yorktown. In 2017 my drama teacher played it in our class. And I was so confused on why the character was mentioning George Washington. My dumbass thought it was some kind of code name for a character. Low and behold, Hamilton was my introduction to musical theater. (I was aware of musicals, but Yorktown was the first song that I actually had to perform with my class. Cuz technically the first musical I saw was the movie Phantom of the Opera.)

It actually is much more than what that video contains. Almost every song was at least slightly changed (personally I think the biggest differences from then two now that are not in that video are in “We Know”, “Washington On Your Side“, „Right Hand Man“, „One Last Ride“ (which had a completely different title back then, now it’s „One Last Time“) and then also „Hurricane“, where they robbed us of an other Laurens solo in the current version. And I’m not happy with that… 😂)

@@imani._.love08 Do you mean the one that basically has the entire Workshop Show? Yes, I think that one would work perfectly. The only thing is that it has a lot of songs that didn‘t change as much as well. „Alexander Hamilton“ and „Satisfied for example only had two or three lines slightly changed and „Helpless“ wasn’t changed at all. (Btw. I agree that the Original Hurricane is great. I’m not a huge fan of One Last Ride, but the same thing goes for One Last Time, so it’s not just that version. I personally also prefer the original versions of We Know, Washington On Your Side and Right Hand Man (as well as Hurricane). I’m really happy about the changes in Aaron Burr, Sir and May Shot though. Laurens‘ entry being „Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo…“ really just isn’t it. At least for me.

First Burn was a workshop version of the song that became Burn in the full show, many of the same lyrics as you'd notice. The audio the animatic was made with was a special recording they did which brought together many of the different women who have played Eliza in different productions of the show.

First Burn was one of the first version of the song "Burn" while he like it, this was not the tone of the show he wanted for the musical. This version was performed by 4 other actresses that played Eliza on Broadway and on tour in the U.S. and London.

I LOVE First Burn, much more than Burn. But I feel that Burn fits much more to Eliza's character in the musical, as she is the sweet and kind wife, the one who would have "stepped aside" if Angelica had said she wanted Hamilton. It fits the narrative that she is much more reserved and sweet.

There’s actually a ton of songs that were cut or changed. There’s an entire workshop version (from before it came to Broadway) and there were definitely some changes made. Congratulations is part of that for example.

I fins that the best way to think of the two versions of Burn is like this... First Burn is the way present day Eliza would have reacted to Hamilton's affair... First Burn is a song for the modern scored woman. All fire and anger with the ability to say eff you, I'm out. The Burn in the show is more true to how a woman of that time would have reacted. Sadness, anger, then uncomfortable acceptance. She was woman with zero assets and no way to support herself and her children. All she could do was forgive and try to forget. I love both versions because it shows that Lin Manuel understood the assignment. Even though his first inclination was to write a song where Eliza rips him apart and probably would have destroyed her marriage, he went back and gave us a probable more likely scenario to what occurred. Both are valid... and in my opinion, both are awesome!

You should definitely react to Ziksua's animatics, I'm also surprised you haven't reacted to any of Szin's considering how insanely popular they were, but that's not a complaint. Ziksua's are absolutely beautiful and emotional filled. First Burn is sung by someone else because this wasn't a deleted song, but a new spin of Burn that was officially released a few years after. Congratulations was however a deleted song. Let it go, the John adams rap are also deleted songs I very much recommend !! There's also 10 things one thing (the original version of the world was wide enough), and the original "your obedient servant" as well as Dear Theodosia reprise :)

There are other songs in the musical that were shortened that you need to hear the full version of. The 3 that come to mind are The Adams Administration (Hamilton cut rap lyrics), Schuyler Defeated (original version), and Ten Things One World.

If you're interested in more musicals I definitely recommend the Death Note musical! A channel with all the songs in a playlist is called "The Adventures of Cereal Boi" haha. I think you'd enjoy the songs They're Only Human, Mortals and Fools and Hurricane for a video as they're all quite different, but all the songs are just fabulous. Playing His Game and Where is the Justice? are very iconic ones as well haha. Plus Jeremy Jordan plays the main character, Light (unsure if you've seen the series!) and he played Lucifer in Hazbin Hotel so that's fun!

dear theodosia reprise is a good deleted song. It's when Theodosia, Burr's wife, dies and he's grieving her and also talking to hi daughter, whose name is also Theodosia. It's short but sweet

There's actually one more thing from Hamilton you should react to. There's a cut version of a song in the musical, it's called Schuyler Defeated but it's the workshop version. It goes much more in-depth to the whole situation then the one in the musical so I'm not really sure why they cut it. There's also a Dear Theodosia reprise that they cut

You should listen to hadestown it’s the story of orpheus and eurydice and has a similar structure to Hamilton being sung almost all the way through and well thought out lyrics that push the story forward!
