Put The New Couple in 5B on my list because you talked about it in an earlier vlog and just finished it this morning. Usually I do other things when I listen to audio books but at the climax I had to stop everything and just listen because I didn’t want to miss anything. Sure sign of an entertaining read. 👻

I love this video, I have to compliment you on the way that you give your feelings about the book without giving too much away about the plot, the characters, or giving any spoilers. A lot of videos that I've been watching recently from other people, I feel like they tell all of the attributes of the characters, they tell the plot that's listed on the book description which is fine but then they go way beyond that so I feel like I'm learning about a good portion of the book before I read it and I don't like that.

👻 Last night I finished Listen For The Lie, which you mentioned really liking in one of last weeks vlogs, so I used an audible credit for it, and I loved it! Then I started to listen to The New Couple In 5B on Hoopla but fell asleep pretty quickly so I am going to start listening to it again tonight. Though I'm going to start it earlier than I did last night, so I can actually pay attention to it and not pass out! I have definitely been in a thriller and/or horror mood, so your recommendations have been on point lately! ❤

👻If you liked The Warm Hands of Ghosts check out Katherine Arden's Winternight series. I've only read the first one, The Bear and the Nightingale, but it was one of my favorite books I read last year. It's a magical realistic book set in 1600s Russian where the female main character sees mythical creatures but keeps it quiet as Christianity is gaining serious traction in her village with the arrival of a charismatic priest, and she gets caught in a battle between the demon Frost and a one eyed demon named Bear. Absolutely beautiful writing. I'm really looking forward to Warm Hands of Ghosts, then added The Final Strife and The New Couple in 5B. I read Tress in March too and enjoyed it. It's my first Sanderson and piqued my interest enough to check out his other works (I know he's popular but the books never interested me for some reason). I had a big slump at the start of the year and only 2 other books were worth recc'ing. I think you've read Starling House, but I loved that. The next was Into the Heartless Wood, which is a dark cottagecore/Ghibli-esque fairy tale about a tree siren who saves a young man's life instead of taking it and he starts visiting the woods where she lives. The writing is gorgeous,; it has dual POVs and the way the tree siren's chapters are written shows how she changes throughout the story. I think it's my best surprise of the year so far.

Throne of Glass is amazing! Crescent City is skippable imo
@christy29359 ай бұрын
ACOTAR is my favorite of her series, but TOG is pretty good. I will say that I really did not like the first 2 books and almost DNF'd, but I got into them at book 3 when, to be spoiler free, the world and characters really expand. I'd probably read Crescent City 1 to see if you like it but put it as an I'll get to it when I feel like it. The first one did have some interesting things going on, it's set around a murder mystery which is pretty neat, but it's just way too bloated. Also, the characters aren't as good IMO. It's really all of SJM's worst qualities as a writer in 1 series. I DNF'd book 2 about 2 chapters in after the ending was spoiled for me, and I'm one of the few who HATE the ending. I plan to reread 1 then the other 2 at some point, but it's low on the priority list.
