so true about grief... my dad passed in july of this year and it's wrecked me and my siblings. he was relatively young (66) and it was sudden and it sucks! im glad i grew up in a time where mental health has been talked about in a public setting (im 24) and being able to explain how im feeling helps a lot. it's just random shit that'll get u tbh and some days r easy most days beat the shit out of u. i dont even want anyone to gift me books this year because those were the presents my dad loved shopping for for me and it just wouldnt be the same...

so sorry for your loss Jessika. Sending lots of love to you and your siblings. I can't imagine what it is like to lose a parent that young. I totally agree that grief is such an ebb and flow. I lost my Nana recently and we were very close. There are just moments where I suddenly realize that she is not here anymore and it is a very sad and strange feeling.

I’m in a bit of a reading slump so I’m rereading the Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo for the third time this year, purely for the serotonin boost. My 2025 goal is to read at least some of the 100 unread books on my shelves, either love em/keep em or unhaul them. I’m also trying to embrace some crafty hobbies(crocheting, scrapbooking, maybe knitting if I’m feeling a little crazy😂) in addition to me reading

I read the Dagger and the flame not that long ago and really enjoyed it. I do take your points, I don't really disagree but I just had a good time with it 😂. I think that my levels for rating something are very different than most because I am pretty easily pleased. On average I give out 3+ and only dnf 2-3 books a year so I think I just enjoy things easily! I do think that maybe the twist you mentioned was set up a little in the first part you read when you were not so in the mood (I guessed it pretty early if I remember) so maybe that break didn't help? Love hearing all your reviews and recommendations 😁

If you’re looking for a good cozy mystery with food try Diane Mott Davidson. She has a series about a caterer that gets into shenanigans. There’s always a recipe from the book at the end. Hallmark even made an adaptation. (loosely based I might add)

Looking at the massive TBR in my house...I'm going to have to do a massive unhaul bc I've got too many Ripped Bodice sub box books (that sub box has now ended) that I just do not get joy when reading the blurb. And there's a LFL at my hospital that I can stock up. Woo, Bookly! I've had paid Bookly for over 2 yrs now and it's so useful, just for the goal-setting/stats/reading timing alone. Ginger's little paws on her heating pad up in the corner of the frame, just waiting to be worshipped with more Churru (we can no longer have Churru at our house bc Shakespeare is on a strict special kidney food only regimen bc of his eighty billion kidney stones, so neither of them get treats anymore and we are M A D about it) 🐕🍨

Just FYI that 2.5 is not the middle of a 5 star rating system. Since there is no 0 stars, it goes 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. So, 3 is the middle. If you give 0 and 0.5 stars, then, yes 2.5 would be the middle, but if the ratings start at 1 and go to 5, 3 is the middle.

Love your videos! Love you! Please, please, please stop using the word demure. I know it’s a thing right now, but almost everyone is using it incorrectly and it’s just not a word anyone should be using more than once a month because, most likely, the odds of using it correctly more than once a month is very low. Words are important and using them correctly holds immense value as it increases communication. I don’t know who or why it was decided that using demure whenever in any random situation was cute, they should step back and choose a better word.
