Yes! If the cover is bright and happy, and then dark content, I feel bamboozled and led astray!

Agree - People We Meet on Vacation is too long and the friendship fallout was anticlimactic. BUT their Tuscany trip was everything~

i enjoyed Beach Read more than People We Meet on Vacation too! i totally agree that it was annoying not seeing the Croatia flashback until so late in the book because i definitely spent the majority of the book assuming something else happened than what ultimately did. i enjoyed the flashbacks but i almost wish she had skipped a couple and showed Croatia a couple of chapters earlier and then focused on the present for the last 20ish percent of the book

I really liked The Ex Talk too! Also Hang the Moon by Alexandria Bellefleur was amazing! I get into slumps with traditionally published sometimes too, but those were both stellar to me.

I personally really liked how the flashbacks in People We Meet on Vacation laid the ground work for their relationship. What I normally don’t like in books about friendships that had a falling out is that we usually never get the context of why they were friends to begin with. But I do agree with you that I found the reason for their falling out to be underwhelming. It felt like a lot of build up to this big blow up that we never got.

SO excited for when I read Wild Women and the Blues--sorry that the structure didn't hit you in the right way :/ Also, Emily Henry is on A Mighty Blaze live this Friday 5/21 if you're interested in hearing more about the author's choices on the flashbacks!!--Jenna is a great interviewer for Lit Chick 😍The video is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hn6kcnaNZ5iZoq8

I am so glad to find someone that feels the same about the People We Met on Vacation as I do. I was starting to think I was just being a hater but I just really didn't click with the book and the flashbacks were actually frustrating. I was like I am happy you guys finally got it together but like why the hell did it take so long and why was it so frustrating to read 😖😫 it was a low 3 star for me lololol ...i don't know what didn't click for me that clicked for everyone else

Hey Jess! I love your recommendations. Have you ever read anything by Eve Silver? She has a historical romance series called Dark Gothic. The best imo is Seduced by a Stranger. If you haven't, would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Oof People we meet on vacation does not sound promising.... that’s rough. The relationship in beach read started out great but it really started to drag for me so I think her new one will definitely be a he’s sell for me. I’m not a fan of friends to lovers in the first place... might still wanna give it a try though!

So glad you read The Dating Plan-now I don't have to. 😂 60% of the book to discuss standing her up at the prom, but she was 😎 with 😘 him before that?!? What? No, thank you. I didn't care for Beach Read so the Emily Henry 📖 is Not on my radar. I am excited for Dial A for Aunties though. It sounds like a delightful telenovela treat. I'm anticipating some great side characters and campiness, and I'm here for it. 😂 I typically find that Trade Paperback= Disappointing Read Most of the time they end up being Women's Lit masquerading as something else. Coincidence that all the best historicals and paranormal reads are either mass market paperback or e-book? I think not. 😂 😍 a floppy mass market. Socks are always a win. Bare feet should Not be a thing. In fact, the only kind of book cover preference I have is No bare feet on it. Your 🐶 are so adorable. The stare down for attention. 😂

People We Meet On Vacation -hard pass for me. Miscommunication is only surpassed as one of my most hated tropes by a Total Lack of Communication. Didn't the girl in Beach Read have a dead parent? Already recycling that?
