@nash526211 күн бұрын
Okay so “exact opposite” might have been an exaggeration. I am one of the few people who actually liked the first ACOTAR book, plus I loved The Seven Year Skip too. I can’t even say we read different genres because we read across similar genres, but we usually pick up different books. For the ones that overlap, if I loved it, sometimes you felt meh about it, and vice versa 🤣 it makes for a really fun viewing experience

You looked so freaking pretty in this vid Harriet! My top 5 star read of 2024 was The Reading List! Older widowed man reads a forgotten library book he found in his house after his wife passed after years of not understanding why she loved books so much, afterwards he doesn’t necessarily want to stop reading and heads to the library where he makes one of the most unexpected friendship for the rest of his life. This book was so good and it’s definitely a highly recommend! I would look up trigger warnings if anyone has triggers they want to avoid, but if you’re okay not knowing it’s worth it! Congratulations on podcast launch!

Fav series from what I read last year was The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee (three books Jade City, Jade War and Jade Legacy). I fell in love with the characters, the world building was beautiful and truly heartbroken when I finished it because I just wanted it to keep going. I literally finished all three in two weeks which is unheard of for me haha

Hey girl, this video was iconic. I just stared my year off reading one of the worst series I've ever read (Renegades by Marissa Meyer) because I loved her other series (Cinder or the Lunar Chronicles, if you haven't read them!) and so I'm so peeved rn because I thought they'd get better and they did but they went from a 2.5 ⭐ to a 2.75 ⭐ to a 3 ⭐ so like 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ Anyway, my best book of last year was one of your top books, Silver Flames. It was a 4.75 ⭐ I'm with you, if a hardened person's shell is cracked and they fall in love, I'm soooo in! Funny Story was good but it wasn't as good as Book Lovers, which is also probably my favourite book and definitely the best purely romance novel I've ever read, so it was only a 4.5 ⭐ You've inspired me to finally pick up Throne of Glass but I think I'm going to start with the Mind Fuck series since you said they're short and I need a break before I get back into the long books. If you want suggestions of books you haven't read (I think) - All the Sinners Bleed by S.A. Cosby was a thriller that came out of nowhere for me and was amazing. A great look at racism, if cops can ever be 'good' in the US, and the thriller part was also really good - the next 3 Thursday Murder Club books. As you said before, the thriller part is ok but the characters are what make this series and it only gets better imo - True Love Experiment and it's prequel Soulmate Equation, I liked TLE more and I started with it so if you don't care knowing about couples that obviously will end up together, I'd read it in that order, lol I had a pretty good reading year last year all things considered. Only read 39 books but had a 4.22 average! Go read
@scrivspo8 күн бұрын
as always i love love love hearing your thoughts! a 4.22 average is AMAZING

Favorite series I read in 2024 was The Book of Tea series by Judy I. Lin. You got a magic system rooted in tea culture, some romance, gods wanting to just ruin lives, and characters trying to figure out their lives while trying to stay alive. Bit of a slow start since the tea culture side of it needs explaining, but there is some info pages included to reference stuff, which is nice.

We read a lot of the same books in 2024! I think my favorite of the year was This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. One sentence no spoiler summary: Two time-traveling rivals fall in love and must change the past to ensure their future. It’s so good. It’s the book that’s keeps coming up in my mine and I read this in July. It’s also less than 200 pages, so it’s a real quick read. So good.

@ It’s my favorite series of all times… But there’s an issue with the writer that he just doesn’t release the 3rd book, which is the final they say. I sometimes tear up thinking about it might never be released, that’s how much I love the book lol So it’s a fantasy book series that contains magic, music, love, fays etc but it’s written so well that it’s feels kinda real haha It’s about a man who’s like a “chosen one” if you like that type of things I don’t know… It’s start from his childhood and continues to his present. The thickness of the books are a little intimidating but I totally recommend it! Let us know if you start them :,)
