Mayfair isn’t the reason Lucy Gray’s name was in the reaping. That’s automatic for everyone between the ages of 12-18. No, what happens is much worse. Mayfair got her father to lie and call out Lucy Gray’s name instead of whatever name was actually on the paper.

It's also probably the reason capitol people started to read the names, instead of letting the districts do it

I knew from the start that Snow was going to be the villain, and that he was irredeemable, and that his story would not end happily- but I wanted it to. I didn't want him to become that horrible person he became- I was rooting for him and Lucy not because I thought it would work well, but because I didn't want it to become as horrible as it would- even though I knew it was inevitable. Is that not strange? I've never had that with a book before this one.

Rose petals are in fact edible and can be made into a tea. This would probably been very common in rural districts like 12 and amoung Covey, who seem similar to Romany.

Their are several other ways to use roses in food, too. A big one is rose jelly, rose candies, rose infused sugar.

snow would be a LOT easier to hate if he wasn't so goddamn fine in this movie.

Ngl, I chuckled a little bit when you said "They call it Moonshine?" like a question. That's a real type of alcohol, and it originated in England, before moving to the US around the Revolutionary War. It's also partially responsible for the start of NASCAR (Bootleggers would make their cars as fast as possible to outrun the law, and they eventually started racing on their time off, with the first NASCAR winner using a car that had made a moonshine run the week before), the soda Mountain Dew (Mountain Dew is another term for Moonshine, and the soda was originally made to mix with it), and the term "Bootleg/Bootlegger" (the people smuggling Moonshine in colonial times originally hid the bottles in their legs of their riding boots). (Sorry for the info dump, I grew in a town with a lot of people who make it for fun, and they will tell you the history any chance they get. Apparently, it stuck!) Also, I love your videos! You're very lively, and you deliver all of the plot of the books without it feeling like a book report. I can't wait to see what's next!

Bwahahahaa😭, not my ass not knowing that moonshine actually exists 💀 thank you sm for the info, that’s so interesting 🥹 now I’m definitely curious about moonshine hehe

@@deborahtheexplorer It's okay that you didn't know! We can't all know everything, right? Besides, I had a lot of fun getting to pass on the knowledge! Also, if you do ever try it, maybe do it with a chaser or a mixer the first time. It's made at a higher proof than most alcohols, so it's got more of a kick, by a *lot*. (One of it's other nicknames is White Lightning, because it's clear and the feeling you get drinking it is like being struck by lightning.)

I believe Teslee doesn’t die from drones chasing her When the snakes arrive Circ dies along side Coral and Teslee is still alive. When Mizzen is chilling on the beam where Lamina was Teslee is beneath him using the drones to knock him of the beam and it works so she gets her first kill but moments after Treech ambushes her and slices her up. In summary she gets 4 place

Lovedd you video and take on the book. I watched the movie first and then started listening to the book, I got like 2 hours in and I just couldn’t stand Coryo which is definitely the point but being inside the head of someone who is so condescending towards everyone and has no empathy is exhausting. I definitely think the book is more realistic but I liked the movie more just bc the story flows better that way… although it definitely paints Snow in a better light than the book.
