Now, I'm just thinking of all the times that some people have used Drs &/or Nurses offices or whatever as the setting for certain smutty fantasies ... and/or all the times people have dropped the phrase "playing doctor" in reference to some kind of people's smutty exploration(s) of each other .... in the past. 😶 (Thanks, for those horror!flashbacks.😅😅🙃🤦‍♀️😂)👀 😅 I think, for me, 'probe' is a bit like the word 'moist' .. I totally get why it would not be everyone's cup of tea, but for some reason it kinda just doesn't really bother me personally in that same way at all. Lolll

Im pretty sure this idea is a reference to Eros and Psyche. Psyche is told that she is going to marry a monster, but its actually Eros or "Cupid". He takes her as his bride but she is not allowed to see him at any point. Eventually she gets really curious and sneaks a peak, finding that he isnt a monster at all, but then his trust is broken and he leaves. She has to go through a series of trials to prove her love and win him back.

It’s probably based on Eros and Psyche. Her sisters mistreated her (albeit, in most versions they only mistreat her after she marries Eros), Eros wouldn’t let her look at him (because she wasn’t supposed to know who he was/he was supposed to have killed her). She seems to like basing her stories on Greek Mythology Edit: she just read the summary, I called it lol

Worth mentioning that Eros was originally supposed to shoot Psyche with one of his arrows in order to make her fall in love with some horrible ugly monster because his mother, Aphrodite, was upset that people were saying Psyche was more beautiful than her. Eros screwed up and accidentally jabbed himself with one of his arrows, falling in love with Psyche. So he took Psyche to be his wife, forbidding her from looking at him so he could make her think he was an ugly terrible monster and sorta kinda still follow his mom's orders.

As an author of 12+years myself, I appreciate the effort she puts out, but I am noticing that the speed with which she does write and release books often leads to a lot of sloppy, and easily avoided mistakes that could be fixed with more time. That being said, if it works for her then I'm happy an Indie author is doing well.

The books are obviously not high literature (and don’t have to be) but I was absolutely flabbergasted by the logical issues in Elf King and Duel (haven’t read the second one). The entire premise of elf king is basically built on the MC not wanting to take up her magic role or whatever because she wants to help sick villagers who only get ill because she isn’t fulfilling her role. It’s impressive how much the author is able to write and publish but this series could do with some more attentive writing and editing.

I find it rather humorous that we now cringe at "forced marriages" but arrange marriages were a very real thing for women throughout history. My great aunt had an arranged marriage in the 1950s... its still very real in many cultures (even the U.S). I guess for me it would be more "real" if the woman didn't swoon fall in love with the man she was forced to marry but that she slowly respected him, found value in the marriage, etc and eventually came to love him. But that's not how steamy romance fantasy works. Also, as far as her novels, please read the Loom Saga. It is a gaslamp fantasy that as a pretty cool magic system. The author actually just got the publishing rights back for the Loom Saga so she will be publishing a 2nd edition with new cover art.

Actually most arranged marriages are forced. Take a fundamentalist or evangelical for example. Many young and I mean very young like 14 and in rare cases 12 are put into forced marriages opps.. I mean arranged marriages. The most common is young women 16 plus. It isnt okay. Women should make the decision not their fathers. A good chunk of these marriages are abusive and some of the women get killed from the abuse. Sorry but I disagree. I am against polygamy, child marriage, and forced or arranged marriages. It is wrong.

I've had the Malazan series on my to-read list for a bit now (brother's rec and told me a bit about it), but I don't know if I'm mentally and emotionally ready for what I know is going to be a very involved world and story. So instead I've been sticking with some good, not to deep, or long of a series, si-fi fantasy romance, but have just been choosing lemon after lemon. Maybe I need to just give up and go where I know it's good, but gosh-darnit I'm not ready for that world. Your comment just made me laugh because I've been thinking the same thing when I look on book lists of gr and such very different types of books all are in the same genre and list.

The fae prince one sounds suspiciously like the myth of Eros and psychy Like that she was forced and that she’s not allowed to look at him Edit: ok sorry it’s been confirmed in the video, wrote this comment before

The second book with the Elf Prince sounds like retelling of the Cupid and Psyche myth…which if you want a stunning retelling of that myth read Til We Have Faces by C S Lewis. It’s one of my favorite books. It explores the myth from the viewpoint of of one of the “evil” sisters, so it definitely turns all the tropes inside out!

About the Fae Prince book! Though I didn’t read it myself, just from hearing you talk about it, it seems like an allusion to Greek myth of Psyche and Eros? Mostly the arranged marriage stuff and and Fae Prince ordering her not to look at him!

Honestly, I love these books so much and haven't read Air Awakens yet but I think its also cause I really don't have to think too hard and know what I'm expecting. Though honestly, the vampire lord book was different than I expected. But also, I'm biased since I have signed copies of this series lol (it also helped get me back into reading as well so... soft spot for them!)

I enjoyed the first one, just because I crave easy to read (easy to put on GR Reading Challenge...) fantasy with no evident suffering and happy ending. I'm pretty much depressed, and this is like a hell-lot of mental vitamins and nice things and stuff. And also, I freaking love long-hair male characters :DDDDD (we don't have Married 3 in Spain, and I haven't read Married 2 yet...but I want to read it :D ).

NO WAY!! I had no idea that you were going to make a full video on Kova’s whole Married to Magic series so far when I left that comment on your other video! Can’t wait to see everything you have to say, especially on A Duel with the Vampire Lord because…I ended up DNFing it. 😅 It just started to drag and I was like, “Ah, I think I’d rather read something else,” and I think that’s how I’m feeling with all her other future books in this series (have not even touched the Fae Prince one). I will say, though, that A Duel with the Vampire Lord definitely _feels_ a bit different from A Deal with the Elf King at least, like it has a much more gothic lean which I always love and did keep me engaged for a time! That could be why it got higher ratings too, just for having a different, more somber vibe. And because everybody loves vampires. 😆❤️

I think this is one of my first series with the "married to fae" trope and I really loved it but more for the books not the trope itself (I listened to the audiobook, that might have changed my experience). I still have to listen to Air Awakens, I'll do that by the end of the year for sure!!

I read her books whenever I'm in a reading slump and need a quick read, lol. It's a weird love/hate relationship for me, because enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity are some of my favorite tropes. I really respect her as an indie author though and all the work she puts in! I want to support her to help her succeed.

I loved Deal with the Elf Kind and Duel with the Vampire Lord. The second book not so much because I pretty much guessed the entire plot by like the 3rd or 4th chapter. Also the 4th book isn't the last book in the series. Elise Kova said there were more books since lykins are mentioned so much in the 3rd book.

Air Awakens is one of my absolute favorite Fantasy series! I’m loving the Vortex series. I love her style it’s very easy to just eat it up. Now I have yet to get into the Married to Magic serie. I bought a bookish box with a special edition of Air Awakens and I’ll be doing an unboxing on it. 😁 I hope I enjoy the Vampire Lord I love a good vampire story. That’s the one I’m gonna pick up next.

Cari- I just found your channel and I love it. Thank you for sparking my young adult fantasy interest again. As a single mother working in ministry I have a very busy life. The literature I do read(the Bible) doesn’t have any of this lol but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it! You and your channel have brought me lots of giggles and cringes. If you are taking suggestions- pleaser retell the Chronicles of Faerie series by O.R. Melling. This was my favorite series for a long time. Thank you!

I had nooooo idea what you were talking about with the “low key vertigo” until I proceeded to dive into the Air Awakens series myself and 4 days later I’m almost done with the audiobook. 10 hours day of listening at 1.2x speed. I have vertigo, but due to my AirPods. Anyway, I cannot tell you enough how happy I am that I clicked on THIS video and decided to use my audible credit for this series. It’s been my rock the last few days. Side note, I lived in Jeonju for a year and a half. I went there for two teaching positions. I miss eating traditional Korean food every single day.

Didn't finish the video yet, but my note on the beginning of Fae Prince where he says "never lay your eyes upon me" - sounds like the Eros and Psyche mythos. It's not often used, and I don't typically care for it's use, but I'm interested in how this factors into everything, especially the book.
