The Black Farm! I listened to the nosleep podcast for years and I realized when you were talking about the book and mentioned the Pig that they actually did a multi-part reading of the black farm (or whatever its earlier drafts were called) years ago. I can’t remember now whether it started out as creepy pasta/ online horror writing and then got polished into a book due to popularity with fans or if it was always published as a book first, but it’s stuck with me throughout the years since I first heard it . I’m so glad to see that it’s still loved by the horror community years later!

Ok so I'm very interested in reading The Black Farm. It sounds so good. The rest of the recommendations I don't think I can handle. 📙 I loved this video- very good content!

Proud of you for surviving the vlog 😂 I read extreme horror every now and then! I enjoy Dead House by Brian Smith. I haven’t read any of the ones you got to but I will definitely prioritize Black Farm!!

Depraved by Bryan Smith is amazing! It's pretty horrific but extremely griping!

@@samipollock6048 ooo I will check that one out! I appreciate how Smith focuses on compelling characters and not just the gore. It makes things feel even more real!

Excellent video! I highly recommend Gone To See The River Man by Kristopher Triana. It is extreme but not as overly disgusting as other entries, almost a gateway to extreme horror. I enjoyed The Black Farm but it was very dark, those seekers disturbed the hell out of me! Glad you enjoyed the book. If you want a seriously vile read try Nobody Rides For Free. Love your furbaby 🐶 In The Miso Soup sounds great! Exquisite Corpse is on my tbr. I mentioned Triana but would also highly recommend Jack Ketchum.

Chuck Palahniuk is an outstanding horror writer. I liked Invisible Monsters (the Remix version if you can find it) and Haunted, and both were grotesque, visceral and absolutely fascinating works.

I did read Haunted in HS and it freaked me out- I may have to revisit that and more of his work!👀

Invisible monsters is one of my favourite books ever. I’d also suggest rant (super weird) , choke and survivor are good ones, too, more psychological

Ooph, you were a trooper 👏 That must've been a rough week! I think I'll check out Black Farm but pass on the others, especially Zola 🤢 Not a fan of gross bodily fluid type descriptions/horror 😅

I only read Exquisite Corpse and Zola of these 4, In the Miso Soup is on my physical TBR, but The Black Farm sounds very good. Full Brutal by Kristopher Triana, The Summer I Died by Ryan Thompson, and The Night of the Prowler by Jon Athan are fantastic extreme horror books. The major extreme horror gem I found this year so far is Dead Inside by Chandler Morrison - Dead Inside and Full Brutal lean more into dark comedy, Night of the Prowler is also kind of intentionally silly but it's a great slasher, and The Summer I Died is just very sad and bleak with intense scenes of gore and torture. Thanks for another video Peyton!

This is such a good set of books that you picked here. I own The Black Farm, haven't read it yet--but I'm excited to. Every time I hear someone talk about Zola, I think for a second they're talking about Emile Zola, which is. A very different author in a very different situation. Haven't read In the Miso Soup, but Japanese horror is some of the best. It's on my list. Exquisite Corpse is one of my favorite books of all time--really upped my standards for cannibalism books for sure.

I didn't even realise extreme horror books were really a thing when I read In The Miso Soup but looking back I was definitely caught off gaurd by the violent scenes in it lmao, makes me wanna check out Audition

black farm, no thanks. I have lost people to suicide. I don't like the theme of people who are so mentally or physically tormented in a moment of despair they end their lives. moments where maybe they aren't even capable ofrational thought. if you have to use someone's pain to build a plot on and itimate they will go to a hell like landscape that is nothing I want any part of.
