i read plato's symposium so you don't have to (get cultured)

a brief summary of plato's symposium. my friends said this video was a personification of ADHD. took me two days of editing and two days of exporting but still failed so i screen-recorded it that's why the quality sucks.
also, if you paid enough attention, you would've found out that i only mentioned 6 people when i said that there were 7 people at the symposium. it's editor's(my) fault. sorry to all the Pausanias' fans out there, i missed him.

You got the Alcestis story wrong. Her husband didn't die, he was just meant to die. Alcestis was the only one to offer her life to Death (Tanathos) in return for Admetus' and so she did. Hercules, a passer-by guest of Admetus, was impressed by her gesture and went to fight Tanathos and got her back. That said, I like your style, keep it up.

What a bad title and what a crazy, outrageous idea "i read so you don't have to".... Plato is one of the most important thinkers and "Symposium" is worth spending some time with a book in hand - believe me, one of the best dialogues ever written. You don't "get cultured" by watching a video! More modern Anderson's translation is vivid and full of life. If you are not into reading then Saga Egmont published an exellent dramatized audiobook that shades a natural light here. The ideas are worth pondering and stage vibe introduces Plato not only in his philosophical genius but also as a skilled, top playwright. Read or listen first, then meditate on the book, reflect, take notes. It is your own personal journey. Don't let others who "read so you don't have to" take that experience from you. Don't do it to yourself. Listening other people's opinions and accounts should be the last step you take - to confront your own reflections with others'. I can't believe I had to write this comment. Instant culture in progress! 🤦🏻‍♀️

totally agree with you that Plato is amazing and I’m a huge fan as well lol. the title is merely a joke because a lot of people around me told me that they didn’t want to start reading philosophical books as they thought these books were “boring” and “elusive”. these opinions inspired me to make this video. i understand their struggles because not everyone has the time to read everything they should or want to read, especially when they’re still in school. it will truly make my day if someone watches this video and thinks philosophy can be fun and not that difficult to read so that they would probably pick up a philosophical book at the library / book store next time.
