I love it when you talk about the things you liked and the things you didn't. Hearing you talk about things you hated can definitely be entertaining, but also some contrast is nice and actually makes the hater-ade better. And personally, I subscribed after one of your manga videos and hearing you talk about something you liked. In general, I love hearing people talk about books they like. And like it or hate it, your detailed analysis and specificity is *chefs kiss*.

Irregular Witches was a nice little palate cleanser when I first read it. And it’s my definition of “turn your brain off” reading (whereas a huge population of readers considers stuff like fourth wing to be their definition) I picked it up recently for a second read and put it down pretty quickly because I’d just finished Sabaa Tahir’s “Heir” and still wasn’t ready to leave the higher fantasy world lol. Also I absolutely loved that the character Ian is VERY CLEARLY an homage to Sir Ian McKellen lol. Speaking of your viewers being sadists and wanting to listen to you suffer, have you considered suffering but in a good way? Because that’s how I felt about Ember in the Ashes lol

I read Irregular Witches with my book club a while ago and we all really enjoyed it. Weirdly enough I ended up thinking it was more of a Christmas book than a Halloween one, though! The third act romantic conflict was resolved a touch too easily for my liking, but the romance wasn’t the only important thing going on in the story, so it didn’t matter too much. Plus it was nice to see a book set in the present day UK with such a diverse and inclusive cast, by a British author of colour no less. I think Mandanna has another book with similar cosy, witchy vibes coming out next year, so I’m looking forward to it!

I listened to a chapter or so of My Roommate is a Vampire and couldn't figure out why I hated it so much. Then I found out it's Reylo. Explains so much.

That actually does explain a lot.

ive been fleshing out the MC of my novel and i was like, oh she needs hobbies. hmm. she likes.... books? and immediately booed myself down bc of the exact reasons you described in The Dead Romantics i'll be moving Secret Society up closer to the top of my TBR, tho!

The plot to My Roommate is a Vampire is so sparse because it was adapted from a Reylo Twitter fic. And wow I’ve read that book and do not remember the smut scenes at all (sorry you had to suffer through that) but I do remember the off screen plot resolution making me so mad.

I enjoyed the Very Secret Society blah blah (some titles are too long to remember or type). I had come off of When the Moon Hatched (hated it) and needed something … better. I also have a soft spot for found family because I super relate to this as I don’t have good family ties outside of my husband and our kids. We’ve had to built our own found family so I really feel this. It was good. I appreciated a lot about it. ❤

Had to come back to say that in my opinion, the best world building I’ve seen is the Empirium trilogy by Claire Legrand. It’s ya high fantasy (tho I don’t think it should be ya), dual perspectives and timelines and it’s my favorite series ever. I feel like I’ve left a similar comment, because I’ll recommend this series forever lol, but it really is the closest thing to perfection I’ve ever read

The only one of these books I was interested in, Secret Society of Very Irregular Witches, I've already read and enjoyed, so instead I will suggest you read How to Summon a Fairy Godmother by Laura J. Mayo. I haven't read it but the synopsis looks fun, and if one of us has to suffer I nominate you Dee
