I don't now if egg thing was real but I do remember seeing it in various shows to teach kids how difficult, it was to look after children. As for eggs in a fridge if eggs are washed than they need to be in a fridge, if not they do not need to be kept cold. My guess is its the USA so eggs should be kept in the fridge, but maybe that's where he got them from.
