It would be really cool if there was an armorstand Scarland employee behind the gate that would play a custom music disc voice recording for VIPS or those with a 1 day pass. Maybe rig it up to a pressure plate to initiate the whole "Welcome to Scarland how may I help you?" when they first walk up, then another disc recording plays when a valid pass is inserted. Hey Impulse, a blacksmith here. There would definitely be a lot of tools everywhere in the forge, some hung up, some laid around :D The tools would mostly be close to your forge and anvils, so you don't have to go around and waste time getting stuff, but you would also have a lot of tools you don' use as much as others, so those could be hung around the walls of the forge. The only thing that isn't the most realistic is, that you would want your anvils as close to your forge as possible, so you don't waste the heat running between the forge and the anvil. But you know, that doesn't really matter in the game, and the forge actually looks really good, so I don't think this one unrealistic thing would ever be a problem :)

With the armor stand mod you could put down a block of redstone and a stick to make a redstone mace. And I think a rotated redstone dust and stick could look enough like an axe. Can't think of anything else atm though.

It's a silly game with blocks, and this isn't a big deal, but my main critique since your asking would just be to get the anvil closer to the furnace. The time between getting a heated piece of metal out of the furnace, and onto the anvil is kind of important, cause the that's time the metal is cooling and you need it hot to shape it on the anvil, so the more time your moving it the less time your working it. There's a similar requirement for going from raw ore to actual workable metal. Beyond that there's more room for accidents when there's more room you have to move the metal through. One of the healthiest ways to look at this is as if the metal is alive and want's to kill you. It'll save you from some nasty permanent marks....Usually. Also thick wool and leather is your friend.

As a self appointed Disney parks expert I’ll give you this advice. The parks true signatures are immersive theming and dark rides. The theming is all Scar. If you go to him with a plan to nail the dark rides the job will be yours. There are boat dark rides like Pirates, Small World, etc.. and cart based ones like Haunted Mansion, Pooh, Peter Pan, etc… You can totally wow him with redstone that triggers as the vehicle goes by. Cannons on Pirates (waterlogged TNT for the sound and a projectile that whizzes by) for example. And Peter Pan is a flying ride… who better to create flying mine carts than Dr Dippledop himself? Good luck!!

*@impulseSV* 2:20 The only thing I think would make the forge more practical (but less cool) would be to put the forging places (anvils, etc.) as close as possible to the heating area, because to forge something it needs to be hot, but the further away you need to move it, the more forging time is wasted due to transporting the item, because it cools down on the way. But I don't know how to make it look cool if you push it all together to a single: heating > forging > (re-heating) > quenching area.

20:10, Doc built that so he could AFK the button and get a purple crown. The portal was a chunk loader while he was in the perimeter. After he put it on a zombie as a trap, Grian got it only for Mumbo's vault door to be exploded. After Scar helped with blowing up the outside of the base to restart, leaving the vault as it is, Mumbo showed the result to Grian as a joke, and Grian actually felt so bad for thinking he did it, that he said he didn't deserve it, and burned it.

For the redstone area I would suggest a couple of work tables with redstone components on display, possibly with armor stands so it looks like they are being built/conected/worked on. For the Forge area I would suggest some sort of timed anvil dispenser/piston device hidden in a wall so you can get the sound of an anvil clanging to the ground to simulate dwarves hard at work. Probably want an off/on toggle cause that will damage and run out of anvils. Oh and a connected Iron farm and mega smelter connected to it somehow so the whole room is functional in addition to looking good.

I absolutely love the forge design, but it's just a bit *too* clean; it doesn't really look like anyone works there, with everything neatly hung on shelves and armor stands. Just a suggestion, but you could put a workbench somewhere with wip pieces and just random bits on it. also, since redstone doesn't really have any items like gold does, you could substitute red items, like putting a red apple and a gold one next to each other, red tipped arrows (instant health), red music disc (chirp), stuff like that. A shield with a red banner pattern on it would also fit in nicely, as would the red crown you just earned. If you want to be really ambitious, redstone jewelry using armor stands would look cool (for example, redstone as a gem hung on a piece of string would work as a necklace) More things to add some life: redstone dust & gold scattered on the anvils, a hammer propped on a wall, ready to be used, a smithing template and a armor piece about to be combined, etc

Hi I'm a blacksmith. Your description of forging is about right. High carbon steels need to be quenched, either in water or oil or sometimes even just in the open air, to harden. This concerns things like knives and hammers. Low carbon steel, usually called mild steel, doesn't harden (or not a significant amount) but you can cool them just to be able to hold them, or cool off specific parts of a project that you don't want deforming. Think of decorative scrolls or twists. You're right about needing more tool racks. Blacksmiths have a lot of tongs. And I mean a lot! Also storage for unprocessed steel and many buckets of 'useful' scraps that I can totally use in a project one day, I just know it.

Spent a few years learning smithing, and the things I would suggest as you're going for a more traditional forge/smithy is a grinding wheel and maybe a barrel for scrap metal/pieces that didn't quite turn out right. If you're going for a casting-style forge you could consider the lava pool a crucible for melting down metals for casting into molds, or maybe have one (basically a covered pot to concentrate the heat for the purification of metals) on the side. The forge looks great, although realistically a smith will quench a piece (which only happens near the end of the metalworking) in oil rather than water, since oil shocks the metal much less and makes it less likely to crack or break. Might be hard to imitate that in Minecraft with the liquids available, and what you have is definitely fine from an artistic standpoint. All suggestions subject to your discretion and the limitations of MC and the dimensions of your forge, of course. Arizona also has a decently large blacksmithing association. Don't know if you'd want to contact any of them to learn more, but if you're interested, there are definitely smiths in and around Phoenix and Tucson. Keep up the good work!

The slow zoom in on the inventory while Cleo talked in the background was... so unreasonably funny. I shouldn't have giggled as much as I did.

If you could use a calibrated skulk sensor immediately after the turnstile, you could have the stile remain open until the player walks through, and then have it immediately close behind them as soon as they’re through. Pretty realistic analogue for real world turnstiles that reset once you walk through them

Idea for red tools: make custom textures on iron nuggets. This allows to either change the texture of vanilla tools to have a red variant or you could have your own made

*@impulseSV* 21:11 You could (retroactively) "adjust" the lore of the Hermitcraft server, since you are the only one with a forge worthy enough, you have obviously been hired my Mumbo (the riches Hermit on the server), to forge & supply the Crowns for Mumbos Button-Machine ;D (you need to display the crowns on the armor-stands in the forge, maybe even have some half-finished too) (Speak with Mumbo & see what you can come up with ;) (and maybe speak with Cleo for the decoration-parts )

Having a closer look at the redstone really helped me out today! I'm learning redstone components for a store I'm building and you just showed me the final piece of the puzzle. Thank you!! (Love the video btw)

I learned this nifty little trick a while back. If you put a fence gate under a carpet with a block just above your head you can’t actually walk through it.

Much as I love the GISS streams, and the podcast and everything else Imp (and Skizz) does, there's nothing quite like a fresh hermitcraft ep. Glad you are back in the routine mate!! :)

The place looks amazing! For the Redstone side you could do something like having different redstone components on the walls as if you had to forge things like comparators and repeaters etc...

A lot of blacksmiths have large auto-hammers that you place your work under and move around while the hammer does the job. I imagine dwarves might have a wall sized auto-hammer. You only need to make it move up and down a single block. You could also have a note block for the ping sound or a custom record. Gotta have a giant hammer to make high quality netherite armor!

Cool, if you get the job you can ride-share in with Pearl and save on the gas. Also, I love the fact that Doc is applying for the job in the middle of the prank war with Grian and Scar.

The way you did the entrance to the Forge Wing looks so good. Excellent color pallet. I use water like that for docking bay force fields and such.

You could place red gemstones on that second area. Like, the place where your atisan dwarfs add the jewels to the tools and weapons your forge dwarfs make, and a few ores being processed to extract more gems from those.

The red crown actually works as like a crafted item in the redstone half! Hang it up or put it on a red netherbrick slab or maybe just a trapdoor like it just got done!
