Fair enough. I almost exclusively use it when I’m out and about with headphones to make music. It’s perfect for that.

You struggling with it Cedric reminds me of the learning curve I first had with Ableton (I started on version 4) That took me 18 hours solid, and I have to confess I felt much like you do at this moment, underwhelmed and uninspired. Now though? I wouldn't use another DAW for all the tea in China. I know you have a Push and a Launchpad there among many other devices, but who knows? In time, you could end up liking this more than all of them, despite first impressions! Anyway.. I hope that's the case, and thank you for uploading your 1st experiences with it

I’ve had mine over a week. Pros are it’s so fast to get ideas down, love automation capture, the presets and auditioning of sounds - something I miss in live. Cons - 4 track limit. Working fast and getting ideas down I hit a 4 track wall very quickly .Not interested in workarounds. 8 tracks is the sweet spot like note. Would never leave my front room. It’s more of a coffee table piece with a pair of headphones plugged in - ready to go.Nice and quiet - no clicky buttons so doesn’t irritate others around me. Controller mode is another reason I bought it. So I’m mobile with my laptop and an audio interface. Push 3 controller is studio piece. I’m trying to love it but I just feel it isn’t complete like it’s in beta still. No warping, side chain, sample slicing either. Great potential but there’s something not quite right or missing
@GrayGhostDog116 күн бұрын
… you wouldn’t need to carry an audio interface, either. The Move can act as both the controller and audio interface.

@@GrayGhostDog1 yeah that’s true. Nice having an audio interface on my MacBook through move. There’s alot going for it for sure.

You chop to a drum rack for slices and edit the start point.
@Marco-ek8wu10 күн бұрын
@@jaycotto2889 I’m talking about slicing as in lives simpler. Auto slicing to a set number upto 32. A lot quicker than adjusting each chop. MPC has the same feature.
@jaycotto288910 күн бұрын
@@Marco-ek8wuI feel you, but that should be simple enough to implement with a future update. I can respect it’s not a fit for everyone. For me, I love where it’s started and I expect it to only get better through future firmware updates.

I’m enjoying move more as an instrument than a production tool.
@yosefmase32916 күн бұрын
I hear you man. Not sure what you are talking about that it’s only for the studio. I would probably only use this exclusively on the train and couch. This does not seem like a live performer and it doesn’t seem designed for that. I think the issue for you with the device is probably your expectations of what you want out of it.
@SweetScaleTV16 күн бұрын
I didn't say it's only for the studio.... what I said was most producers that will do videos on the move will only make music and demos with the move in studio. but I said it's extremely portable. But I would make music on my phone or laptop on a train or plain... thats just me but hey were too different people nothing wrong with you doing things differently then I would
@yosefmase32916 күн бұрын
I hear ya! I happen to hate making beats on my iPad/iphone. So the portability + hardware make it a fun little groove box. It’s lacking a bunch of functionality so you can’t really go all the way w anything but it’s fun.
@Kevinschart16 күн бұрын
Its not a push 3. This is a sketch pad. Ableton is simply getting in on the groove box market, while adding enhanced integration for ableton users. If I can confirm the ability to record live guitar loops I'll get it. Rught now you need to spend $1k for that functionality.
@SweetScaleTV16 күн бұрын
word...thats exactly what I said... you can record right into the move ableton covers that in some videos!
Is it functional as a DAW control? Like when its plugged in can it operate ableton well?
@Marco-ek8wu17 күн бұрын
Yes. It’s a mini push in some sense. The layout switches to a standard push configuration of 7 vertical tracks. Track 8 becomes scene launch. It’s a little buggy - showing the wrong track names etc and needs some more work but overall it’s quite decent. All of abletons plug ins are pre mapped to the knobs and you just scroll across to the device you want. The only gripe is the knobs above the tracks. You can’t control track volume, use sends or pan. I think what was said in the video / if they had cut push 3 in half and kept the screen then this would be very nice. Having said that it’s fine for travel. If you’re serious about making finished tracks then a push 2/3 controller and live is by far the best option.

@@Marco-ek8wu that’s tough, that’s the main reason I’d get something like this. Hopefully with updates it can be a seamless workflow and offer more functionality.

If you prefer a laptop over hardware to produce music then this device has not been designed for you. It's simple as that. It's a portable sketcher for people that don't want to look at a computer screen, nothing more. The rest is just cherry on top and not what this device was made for.
