🙌 I consider myself so lucky to have the best neurosurgeon in the state. Not only is he incredibly skilled, but he's also humble and an amazing listener. His attentiveness made a huge difference in my case. Other doctors had downplayed the severity of my spinal disc issue, but my neurosurgeon took the time to listen and discovered that it was far worse than initially thought. He didn't waste any time and rushed me into surgery. During the procedure, he found that my disc had calcified and was cutting into my spinal cord. It's a scary thought to imagine what could have happened if I had gone to someone else who dismissed my symptoms. Some doctors thought I was too young to have such problems and just wanted pain medication or just dismissed me outright. According to my neurosurgeon, if I had fallen again without the surgery, I could have ended up as a quadriplegic because the calcified disk would have severed my spinal cord.

One day I hope she realizes that and owns it, and makes friends and forms relationships with people who deserve to have her in their lives, who are drawn to that strength and bravery. But for now, as others said, she should focus on herself and getting the care she needs, even if it means she needs to be with her mom to have a good night's sleep. It doesn't make her weak and pathetic, it makes her someone who is doing what she needs to in order to cope and move forward. I wish only for the very best for her. ETA: Checked her post history. Markee..... Swamp coolers were developed in the South US and used in areas like Savanna or parts of Alabama, Louisiana......(Swampy areas) and involve water flowing over a filter that has a fan blowing out the air and using evaporation to function. No, they don't smell like a swamp but DO increase the humidity in the room where they are used. I had one of these in student housing once and it really helped, though not as much as an AC.
@lianabaddley82179 ай бұрын
My hubby and i both also grew up with a swamp cooler in Utah. Maybe it was the "dry heat" (lol) of Utah. But they worked really well! Then after we got married we had an apartment that had one that didn't work. We didn't think the landlord really knew how to make it work. Whenever i visit my oldest sister in the spring-fall, i have to wear long sleeves/jacket ask the time. Her swamp cooler keeps her house REALLY cold. She's the only hold out with her cooler. Lol Edit: None of them ever smelled like a swamp. Or even like mildew.

Cause op posted on the infidelity subreddit which is full of disgusting people who try their hardest to justify cheating.
@SkyEcho7519 ай бұрын
I disagree with the people who say cheating is not all about Sex, while they are right it's _only_ about sex, it IS all about Lust. It is about self-gratification, the word we used to use was for that concept was Lust, but people made that all about sex and nothing else. Those who constantly pursue an addiction are those suffering under lust, cheating is all about lusting after someone outside the marriage much they will squander an existing relationship just to pursue it. If the partner is bad, if you have irreconcilable issues, or any other rudimentary problems, then either work on your marriage, or LEAVE. And if they are abusive, don't stoop to their level, be the better person and escape.
@Papa_Waffles9 ай бұрын
It usually ends up with sex, but cheating is because the initial relationship lacks something the other wants and gets to find someone that can provide it. Then a relationship forms from that and just like any other intimacy happens. Sometimes it is a lust thing, but other times it's a power thing, taboo excitement or resentment. The trigger that makes it happen are different the end result is sex.
@LittleMaitea9 ай бұрын
In case of my ex it was also about Control and power (aka the power to hurt me) … but a sociopath shouldn’t be put under the „normal cheater“ category
@SkyEcho7518 ай бұрын
@@Papa_Waffles I'd argue that the Resentment excuse is the only one that isn't about lust. Taboo Excitement & Exerting Power is usually buying into a fetish. They are turned on by cheating on their partner. Proper Resentment, like say getting into constant fights and try to get even, would more fall under Wrath. Initially about lashing out/taking revenge, focused on hurting the other person, rather then about satisfying yourself.
@sherylsnell-massie38014 ай бұрын
It can be about lust - about dopamine - about connection - about validation. It isn't about lust only. Cheating Mother: Who in the world would blame this on OP? And I’m sorry, but the complexities of infidelity aren’t something I’m overly invested in. No matter how complex life is, cheating is very simple. To avoid it, you don’t pursue others while in a committed relationship. The cheating starts long before sex is an option in nearly all cases. It’s a series of decisions. I’ve been with my wife for over two decades. I sometimes get attracted to other women, as I’m sure she feels attraction for others sometimes too. That’s simply a reaction, a feeling. When I feel attracted to someone else, I maintain enough “distance” between us that it never leads to flirting or inappropriate behavior. You know, because I’m an f-ing ADULT, and there’s a huge difference between a feeling and a decision.

Maybe I'm too accustomed to narcissitic a$$holes who have an overinflated ego and get their feelings hurt when the truth comes out, but the surgeon OP didn't shock me too much. What honestly had me horrified was the commenter who mentioned how they had a surgeon fiance who's dad tossed his mother aside like trash and she ended up taking her own life. THAT was beyond disgusting and I hope that the ex fiance has nothing but a life of misery for standing by and allowing that and I'm glad that commenter saw the writing on the wall and left.

For the Chinese food story, I believe that people have come before us give us gifts. I feel the women who have passed down those recipes in your family gave you the gift of being qble to rid yourself of this man before you had children together or his viokence escalated. Also, I dont know a single father who is worth his salt that wouldn't happily put himself on the line to free his daughter from that man. If OP reads this or someone in her position reads this remember, you come from a long line of survivor and one day your story of survival will be told by others, to give them strength and courage, in their dark times. You are already amazing, you just need to heal.

The guy that doesn't want a wedding - not even a dinner. OP then going on about how he doesn't do anything for her: no bday gifts, no dates, didn't take her to hospital when sick, didn't give her a ride when her car broke down. Thats just sad. The bar is in hell and he just limbos right under it. Why do other women accept so little?

Jesus, the Chinese lass having to deal with an entirely racist family is horrible, she was fully expected to deal with his whole families racism but the second she cooked traditional food from her culture? She’s suddenly the bad guy. OP deserved better and needs to work on her self esteem. The way he treated her when she was trying to break up with him was terrifying, he was volatile, broke her property, violent towards her dad and her, like what on earth?! I’m glad he’s in jail, Jesus CHRIST! Also please report his psycho family, they need reporting with every contact attempt they make. I hope she continues therapy, sounds like this relationship massively damaged OP in so many ways. Markee’s “this is not a güñ” has me DYING

The fiance that doesnt want a wedding - when OP said that their fiance told them they relied on their parents/family way to many times it brought up huge red flag- Abusers tend to try to separate their victims from their support system. Op's fiance was showing signs of being an abuser, and Im so, so glad op got out of there. Honestly suprised to see no one else commented about it.

“He’s allowing racism, he’s surrounding himself with racism, he’s aiding and abetting racism” Yup, her partner doesn’t respect OP, he expects her to put up with very blatant and hateful racism and just accept it, it’s so depressing and awful. Plus his family had a horrid racist opinion? He wants pats on the back for “standing up” to racism? Yeah, I’m very glad she left, she deserved so much better OMG

Honestly, if this man wants to save his marriage and his humanity, he needs to be in therapy. It sounds like everyone in his life he views as possessions and he’s not even aware of it. He saying he can’t connect with his girls, but he needs to go to therapy and figure out how to connect with people in general.
@khaleesireyna7317 ай бұрын
I think its too late for him. His last comment where he went on about his oh-so-important job saving humanity vs his wife's job was a huge mask slip. He doesn't see himself as the problem and he probably never will. The only thing he'll have is the question of why his kids don't talk to him 20 years from now.

Saying "It meant nothing" is the biggest BS and pisses me off every time I hear someone say it. It meant ENOUGH to risk everything you have. It meant ENOUGH to be willing to completely wreak your partner's life, your life, your affair partner's life, your affair partner's families life. It meant ENOUGH that so many people self delete because of it.

The only-want-to-do-the -paperwork marriage rang true for me. We lived together for 22 years before getting married at a municipal building in Mexico and were married for 23 years. Never got a ring and he didn't celebrate any birthdays, anniversaries, holidays. The kids and I figured out after he died that he probably had Asperger's . A successful partnership overall. We just had to accept each other for who we were. I'd rather have the relationship over the extravagant party any day.

i am so sorry that happened to you. no-one deserves abuse of any kind and as is the case for the OP here, please know that you aren't stupid and it isn't your fault. the only person to blame for abuse is the abuser, not their target. if i'm reading your comment correctly, it sounds like you're now out of that situation, in which case, well done as it's hard to leave when horrid people have their claws in you but is so necessary as freedom from abuse is liberation like no other. if you're still in the situation in any way, i hope that you are able to exit as quickly and safely as possible. either way, i wish for you the utmost peace, happiness, and healing. you have been through so much but just like a diamond, surviving that excruciating pressure and getting out has allowed you to sparkle and shine in the way that you were always meant to. have an amazing life and i hope that no-one ever hurts you again ❤

I’m really sorry Markee … I was trying to listen to your super long story compilation but kept falling asleep. Oh, no … you weren’t boring me … I was just really tired and thought if I just laid down for a while and listened to you I’d be ok. But, as I said … I kept falling asleep and having to go back a few minutes to start listening again. What kept waking me up was when you’d giggle and laugh. You’ve got quite the laugh if you didn’t know it already. And, as I said before I’d have to search for when I’d nodded off and start listening again. Well, the Sandman won … it’s nearly three hours later and I’m just waking up. Obviously I’m going to have to listen to this while sitting in a tub of ice water. That should keep me awake.

OP, sounds like you need to get one of those 'home office' buildings to put in the garden to turn into your mancave. You can equip it with all sorts, even a bed, power and running water. Either that or build a more substantial annexe for your FIL so he can be living with you but still have his own front door. Many older people prefer the bit of autonomy that bit of privacy provides while his daughter can still look after him as much as he needs. It will increase the value of your property as well.
