The lover's family won't waste time suing. Can't get blood out of a turnip with OP's now ex-husband in prison for 8 years. The other thing is: a judge will consider the fact that the deceased was caught sleeping with another man's wife...a man with two children. Loverboy is 50/50 responsible for destroying another man's marriage/family/life, so a judge would most likely throw it out. Does an affair partner deserve to be executed on the spot by the betrayed spouse of their lover? Ask someone who is betrayed and someone who is the betrayer and you'll get two different answers...and the betrayed will gladly say "if I could get away with it..." If I took revenge for my ex-wife's affairs, I'd be serving multiple life sentences.

"I was at a very weak and vulnerable moment." Of course. It's the actions we choose in exactly those circumstances that define our character. And we all know what you chose. Edit: Unpopular fact: YOU are not responsible for the choice your husband made of ending your lover. I understand "crime of passion" and all that - but last I checked, only Texas allows those circumstances to exonerate the defendant. It _should_ be allowed everywhere, to at least take out men who knowingly court married women. You are responsible for setting up the situation in the first place. The only chance you had of saving your husband was saying your deceased lover had just R-d you, so your husband would have a self-defense plea. He's an adulterer anyway, and deceased, so it's not like you're really damaging his life beyond what already occurred. [It's one of the few circumstances where I condone being untruthful, as it overall does more good than harm - not that the deceased lover's family would agree with me here...]

This was a very sad and troubling story. OP was, and perhaps has always been an insecure, social butterfly. Maybe that is why the 2 relationship she engaged in were with guys younger that her. It gave her a sense of dominance and control. OP failed to take into account the emotional instability, and volatility of young males; especially when it comes to romantic relationships. Young men can be very possessive and territorial. OP's insecurities and accusations about him being unfaithful annoyed and aggravated him. He began to suspect that her accusing him was to cover up her cheating. So she triggered his suspicions about her infidelity. She lit the fuse on that atomic bomb all on her own. Now she is dealing with the fallout she caused.
