if you want to use a trigger Collider you have to use an AreaNode3D

if you make an Area3D add a collisionShape3D as a child node in which you have to select a box shape to collide with you can add a signal to the Area3D if you - select the Area3D and switch from the Inspector to the Node tab - then choose the body_entered() signal - select your player script on your player in your scene and create a function (just follow the engines instructions) - use following code in your created fuction: "body.que_free()" that should fix your problem if i understood you right

if your obstacles have an Area3D collider you have to click area_entered() instead of body_entered()

Did you add a area2D on your player. And then use that to check if the spikes is colliding with the player?

No the problem was that the spikes weren't colliding with a trigger collider(that's what we call it in unity) that I made I might comeback to Godot later

I can't argue with you and I don't know which one is actually better. my point is if I've been using unity for a long time it's probably better and faster for me to keep using it than to learn a new game engine, whether it's better or not, unless I'm forced to
