I Remade the WORST Pokemon Rom Hack

So.. Pokemon Chaos Black - one of the oldest Pokemon ROM hacks out there, which most likely has outlived many of you reading. Even though the fan-made game is now 20 years old, things like it's designs, bootleg antics and overall infamous reputation has made it be remembered as long as it has till this day, but what if it got a second shot in these modern times? Well, that's exactly what I'm here to answer in today's Pokemon ROM remake video!

As hilarious as naming that mystery pokemon "Titleguy" is, I would also like to throw the name "Riposs" out there, as a combo of Rip-off, and Chaos. Seems fitting considering both those claws, and all the ripped stats the game uses lol

I love this concept do much...! The Mewthree X screenshot with "unregistered hypercam" shot me back YEARS. As a kid, I thought it was such a cool design. Your work with all these sprites is wonderful!

As someone with no attachment to this game and having never seen any of the original sprites other than Mewthree, I have to say I love you what you did with these! Graag especially is one of my favorites (I love non-conventional sprites like Mawile so it instantly won me over). Titleguy was another great one considering just how little you had to work and the retractable claws were a really good idea. I also love the choice to make all of their new shinies inspired from their original glitchy shiny sprites. Great work as always! :D

Aw man this reminds me of my old attempts to rework Pokemon Quartz, changing stats and movesets so that most of the mons werent just unchanged from Ruby. I tried my hand at a few sprites but some of those designs are beyond saving lmao

Funny idea (just for the memes): Shicoon never manages to evolve to his last form according to the new description you gave him, and inside the hack he evolves into a Pidgeot because Pidgeot was as a Placeholder, so... what if Shicoon evolves, but being such a small bug and being eaten by a Pidgeot for this reason Pidgeot appears in the Sprite of his last form? (basically Shicoon's last form is inside the Pidgeot)

420th like. Also, I do want to see a part 2 of this. I think I've played this before on an emulator back in high school. Maybe mention Shicoon needing a stone to evolve being why it never did if you make the evolution?? That would be funny. And you are really good at sprite art, I must say.

3:25/3:34 Getting stuck at Mt. Moon isn't a bug or glitch. It's the end of the romhack, which was left unfinished. Notice that the map is left unedited after Mt. Moon, because you weren't supposed to get there yet. So if you do bypass it, it just plays out like regular FireRed from that point on. (I still enjoyed playing it just because I liked Graag and Magid)

Shicoon kinda looks like the Winged Dragon of Ra from the YuGiOh series. 😕 ...Still, the redesign is not bad anyway. But I think I like both Titleguy and Mewthree's redesigns even more. ❤ So, good job! 👍😊

I remember watching videos of this rom thinking it was something in the real frlg as a kid is pretty cool to see those sprites actually drawn well, may I suggest also the one with Angellen for an episode (I think is ruby destiny or something like that)

so archaludon is considered a pseudo legendary in japan being a member of the "600 club" so im gonna say its a pseudo legendary if only because the idea of us getting two pseudos in a gen for the second time is really cool

the western fandom definition of "pseudo-legendary" also includes being a 3-stage evolutionary line and being in the "Slow" experience group, taking 1.25 million EXP to reach level 100, so Archaludon doesn't fit in the western fandom's definition of the category

God I remember this game that my mom brought me in thailand, it surprised me that I was even able to play this game on actual hardware so they installed this romhack onto a PAL version of FRLG cardridge (because my GBA was PAL and I never knew Region existed back then). I remeber playing this game and never got past mount moon and it was so sad that I could never finish this game ever (12 year old me was sad)

This is an interesting idea! Did you get the permission from the original creator to try this? I won't get on your case if you made this video without his blessing. Instead, I was only wondering. Truth to be told, I had thoughts of reimagining an old webcomic from my past. While I wasn't the original author of it, I was a coauthor on the first version of the webcomic. I was even good friends with the main author until we had a terrible disagreement. It's a long story, but he ended up deleting the first version and created a second version. As a result of the turmoil, both versions of the comic stick out in my mind. For at least a decade, the creator of the comic has seemingly disappeared off the face of the Internet, so I have no obvious way of reaching out to him.
