does anyone else get chills when Carries screams NO? I hate it when they take it out on other shows/rewrites/renditions.

I love this song sung by the incredible Betty Buckley!!
@CraigFrancisSoto Жыл бұрын
Wow ! What note on the scale does Betty hit at about 2:38 on the counter when she sings,"And the sin never dies" ? It must be a high E. And she was never afraid to hit those notes at full force. I was lucky enough to see her in both 'Cats' and later in 'Edwin Drood'.. What a beautiful and resonant voice she has.

What a thrilling(and sometimes chilling)voice Betty Buckley has. She has such a wonderful ringing resonance in her voice and a large range. My favorite Broadway performer, nobody is close,in my opinion.Also, in the many interviews I've seen her do,she has a great,down to earth,unpretentious person. Many thanks for sharing this video for her many fans.

Every time I listen to Betty's songs in this show it gives me the chills. She is so incredibly good on these numbers. The recent version with Marin Mazzie couldn't touch the power and emotion in Betty's voice. She is an amazing talent.

everybody seems to blame the direction, but the things like lighting and the ends of scenes and things like that look really epic to me just sounds like the play was hard to put on, cos i swear it had a world class director?

the director had never done a musical, it was unanimous that the musical when Carrie and Margaret were involved it was great, everything else sucked.

@helencheddar well, in the book thats what it was, in the first film, she actively caused the electrics to go crazy, and i dont recall the remake but i think its the same. In this though, she just starts singing "he will burn you" and orange lights flash everywhere, so methinks its fire

ALL of the songs sung by Carrie and her Mother are amazingly BEAUTIFUL. Unfortunately, most of the other songs in the show are not. The songs sung by her classmates at school are mostly forgettable mid-80s style pop songs. Some of them are catchy, some of them are just OK ...and some of them are AWFUL. The script and its structure are vague and confusing. Carrie's powers never explained at all. In order to truely revive "CARRIE", at least 1/3 of it needs to be rewritten...

Good news :) in the 2012 Off-Broadway revival, they completely retooles the entirr show. They kept the good songs (namely, the ones by Carrie, Margaret, Carrie and Margaret, and also the one between Carrie and the gym teacher,) slightly altered the mediocre songs to make them better. Completely axed the bad songs and replaced them with either brand new songs or simply spoken scenes. They also restaged it for a smaller, more intimate stage. Better special effects too. (Especially the interactive Carrie: The Killer Musical Experience at the La Mirada theatre in Los Angeles. Like, the audience seats actually move in that production. You truly feel lile you're IN the high school gym.) And the newly retooled version that the Off-Broadway 2012 show pioneered is the version that has soet of exploded in popularity and become the version that theatres everywhere are doing.

@omnigeek13 i thought she had telekinetic powers and they resulted in starting a fire by flooding the room with the fire hose and the amps set on fire.

@jasonsbrain2 I agree with you for the most part, but I gotta say I think that "In" and "Dream On" are both amazing songs that lull the audience unsuspectingly. Especially, because the lyrics are so cutthroat for the former. And I love what happens to the set in "Dream On." I think those two (of the 80s pop variety) work really well and fit with the movies and book the show is based on.

I suppose they wanted to make the public understand that the fire meant to Carrie that she was unleashing hell by disobeying her mother and for Margaret, that her daughter's powers symbolized that hell was near. That or the production wanted Carrie to be telekinetic and pyrokinesic, lol
