100 myths BUSTED in Cities Skylines!

My last Cities Skylines (City Skyline) video before the sequel releases, and for a send off I'm using engineering to bust or accept various popular city building myths in Cities Skylines. Today we see whether you can replace the sea with poop, does water flow through tunnels, do wind turbines fan forest fires, will fire helicopters use sewage to extinguish forest fires and much more!!

Helicoptors prioritizing trees makes sense from a use case perspective. Can generally send trucks to houses while you can basically only send helicopters to forests

You're correct on the windmill one when you said windmills don't spend forestfires, it's the wind blowing the turbine blades that also spread the fire

Here is a myth to test. You can use sinkholes and building collapse to remove full grave yards and landfill saving you from needing to empty them. Simply build a new one where the destroyed build was.

just a note, for "Water cannot flow through tunnels" you said "Busted" uh i think you mean "Confirmed" since water cannot indeed go through the tunnel :D , this would be a neat thing to revisit with CS2 as unlike in this game, you can actually see the other side of the tunnel is you look through it, its not just a black hole into your soul :D Also just a theory about the filling the sea with poo, soooo i think that just because you see poo flowing out of a pipe doesn't mean there is actually anything coming out, or it could be a very small ammount, and the flowing is just a graphical thing because its either on or off, they don't have a "trickling out" mode, with the sheer ammount of outflow pipes you had, i don't think there was enough poo to go around. This is an example of "more does not equal better" type of situation, now this is only a theory of course, i am not 100% sure that is it accurate

Your wind turbine test with the tornado has a flaw (1:55:07) The wind turbine already has wind power 10, which is the maximum even without the tornado. So even if the tornado did increase the windspeed, it wouldn't show from this test.

about solar panels they were change some time after the after dark expansion. they were sensitive to sunlight but when after dark was introduced suddenly cities that ran primarily on solar lost most of the power supply at night.

Day fifty seven of asking Matt to add the Second Narrows Bridge, Ironworkers Memorial to the Wheel of Bridgetune It is a cantilevered truss bridge, carrying 6 lanes of traffic from Vancouver to North Vancouver in B.C. across the second narrowing of the Burrard Inlet. It's name comes from the fact that it collapsed twice during construction, which unalived 23 people in total (Hence the name, ironworkers memorial).

2:24:15 You can get rid of the cars by using Pedestrian Roads with Tram Track, Buses, Monorails, etc. in the Plazas and Promenades DLC. Just make sure you have a bit of regular road near the airport so Pedestrian Area Service Buildings can operate.

In fact, wind turbines would slow down the spread of forest fire due to the fact that they slow down the wind, down wind of them. Although , temperature downwind increases due to the lower speed and thus lower cooling effect. Why does wind slow down? it is because wind is molecules moving. to move they have energy. when they hit the blade, they transfer their energy to the blade, making the thing spin and make electricity. So by losing some of its movement energy, it then moves slower. The more we put on earth, the slower wind would move. eventually, with very good wind turbine, we could stop wind eventualy. this means that theoreticaly, the more wind turbines you have on earth, the less wind we will have until eventually we wont be generating any electricity with wind turbines. No this does not mean we will run out of wind. Wind on earth is generated by the heat on earths surface and the fact the air can rise and lose its heat to space, causing a continuous cycle of air movement. there is also the wind made from the earth spinning and the air acting like a fluid inside of a spinning cup. How ever there is a limit to how much wind we could harvest from these before we grind these phenomenon to a halt, which we will never reach because with the tech needed we would have better power sources.
