It was overwhelming looking at babystuff when I was first pregnant. But a friend reminded me that marketing towards new parents is soooo aggressive. All you need is 1) a way to feed the baby 2) a way to dispose of their poop 3) a place for baby to sleep. Used crib, diapers, breast pump, and a few plain white onsies are the necessities, everything else is just bonus.

Yeah, the most expensive baby thing was the carseat, can't cheap out there. Everyone wants to give you clothes, so that's easy. A little bouncy baby seat, and some toys to gnaw on, and babies are set.

My first child I bought a ton of things that we didn't use, either because they weren't necessary or because my daughter preferred something else. So with my second, I didn't buy a single thing and they're both ok.

We bought most of our sons stuff second hand, and did more of a diaper shower- you’d be surprised how many toys you end up getting for birthdays, Easter Christmas or just because for your child from others who love you ❤

Same here. Only we had the luck that the new items that where expensive we got from family. Think about a high chair, a crib, a travel crib, my breast pump. Clothes and diapers also gotten from family or second handed (not the diapers) and some items we got for free through fb recycling groups of our neighborhood. Only toys we buy it in sales or if we have a good deal. (Son is 7 months now)

I love how differently we all play The Sims. Some of us would put abuela downstairs, no matter what, because irl it’s best for elders not to have to go upstairs. While some of us want what’s best for gameplay, so we’re putting abuela upstairs even though we’ve noticed she’s knocking on Grim’s door. Some of us will forego all aesthetics for gameplay under certain circumstances and just make a box ala Sims 1. 😂 Different strokes for different folks! That’s what’s so great about this game. ❤

This (even before this reno) is my favorite of the new houses in San Sequoia (no shade to the other creators and I absolutely adore both your library and Kayla's Rec Center (even more now that she also reno'd it with multi-packs). This is also my new favorite pre-made family. I usually only play my own characters and a select few premades and they are going to be added to my rotation. I love the storytelling you added to them with their various styles in their bedrooms (especially fun grandma). Also nice to see you placing more things relevant to their Mexican heritage throughout!

Both go so so well with your CC packs with Little dica) A video where you build a house ONLY using items from one of the styles in the game (Like Art Deco or Frech Country etc) A building using all your LEAST favourite items in the game!!

I think objects not fitting on the shelves is because of the shelves not having enough slot space rather than the objects having too much "personal space." I've noticed that shelves in more recent packs have gotten way more slot space, allowing more and bigger objects to fit, whereas the shelves in older packs can barely fit a piece of coal from Seasons. Likewise, objects have gotten smaller personal space boxes compared to older objects. I actually test shelving space by using the piece of coal from Seasons because it seems to have one of the smallest amounts of personal space. If it can only fit the coal and it looks like it should fit more, the shelf space is the problem. There are even some shelves that are purely decorative - they don't even fit the coal!

Super cute nursery! Very good size to grow into, and I've liked how people have been putting the archway into the nursery that can be closed up as they get older. One thing that has bothered me however is that everyone has been putting the playmat in the nursery, when logically to me irl it would be in a living room space which is what I've done! Just a suggestion :)

The kitchen set that came in growing together is based on a brand new or newer brand I think that's based out of Italy if not Europe. And they make very luxurious bowls beautiful beautiful stoves and kitchen appliances that are modern with a retro feel. If you check out Nina Dobrev and her house tour. That's where I learned about that brand and she got one custom made for her. And it was beautiful and it looks identical to the red set. Except it's not right in her kitchen. Check it out, if I could I would get that whole kitchen

Omg! Not Elenor Sullivan about to die! My current sims family has no in-laws or siblings and she came to help with the kids. Literally thee best stay over guest. She cleaned, helped with the toddler. Would wake up when the infant would cry, and everything. She was a life saver! 🥺

If you use the modular shelf’s from Dream Home Decorator, you can raise items to the exact height needed. Like raising the turtle on that stool in the nursery. It works just like the OMSP red shelf!! ❤❤ The really fun thing about the Sims team reaching out to players to build lots for the game - is not just the fact that they are incorporating some of us in the creation, but the fact that everyone has their own build style. I instantly knew this house was created by you, Deli when I saw it! The same with Kayla. I love it! The sims team asked me to build for them, but I was just way to busy. 😂😂😂 jk I am obsessed with that white shiplap as well! I love to use it in my country kitchens as backsplash! I believe *** it comes in a light green? But I may be thinking of the white brick from Realm of Magic.

Having kids irl is much like having them in the sims you can get tons of stuff and make everything look cute but your really don't need it all. First time Moms think they need so much cause they are afraid of doing it wrong or not good enough but really it isn't true. I recommend Parents not buy much til the kid is there and then get what you truly feel you need. So many parents spend a fortune on fancy bassinets and stuff that your baby ends up hating. If ya wanna try it rent it and see if it even works for your kid. Or just rent it for the few months you need it. If you wait till your ready to have kids you won't ever have them.

For those of you who don't/can't use mods and struggle with lifting objects, the DHD square shelf allows more items to snap on it and is a good substitute. That way you can accurately place things on chairs, shrunken objects, etc. I forget who I learned the trick from, but I've been using it for a while now.

I love all your builds! We have similar tastes when it comes to your most used items. 😂 When/if you have kids, don't let anyone convince you that you need loads of stuff! If you're anything like me, you'll be seduced by beautiful nurseries on Pinterest etc but seriously, babies need food, shelter and love (love includes keeping them clean and happy). Everything else is a bonus. And as other people have said, people *love* buying baby stuff because it's all so dang cute, so you'll get all the extras from friends/family. Second hand is the way to go. Kids grow out of stuff so so quickly that usually second hand things are still basically new. Sorry for the essay but I'm passionate about keeping things simple and anti-consumerist. ♥ ♥ Tldr: Babies don't need as much stuff as you think they need.

In regards to being overwhelmed with all the baby things available: When we had our first and second children I was still a student so we didn't really have a lot of money, but I don't think we were ever overwhelmed money-wise. You really don't need all the things that are out there for babies! Sure, they can be nice and an extra luxury, but it's definitely not necessary. For example, you don't NEED a changing table. We just moved into our brand new house and I'm expecting my fourth. We didn't bring a changing table in the move and we are definitely not getting one this time around.
