The way England played against NL was completely different to how they played against teams they should be beating. It's weird, they're so cautious against smaller teams but they're quite lethal against teams they're about equal to. They were unlucky to lose to France in Qatar and they played well against Italy too. It's boring to watch but it's got them to two finals and one semi final in the last 3 tournaments. Look at how England looked in Brazil with albeit a worse team, they looked stiffer than a funeral drum. I'm not saying Southgate's tactics have been great because they've been incredibly lucky, but the English players all seem to really like Southgate and at the end of the day they'll trust him to lead them. Look at Brazil with Dorival JR, as a Brazilian I can testify: The players don't respect him even in the slightest, in the team huddle it's Vini and Alisson leading it and Dorival literally tries to push through to get to the middle but he cannot. In a video you can even see Endrick doing fucking water bottle flips -- I'm going on a tangent but the English team really seems to respect Gareth and will stand beside him. Even if you get a person like Pep to come in I don't think he'll cultivate so much respect, plus there's no way in hell he'll take the job even if he leaves City at the end of this season. Eddie Howe is a decent option but I think he'd rather amputate his own left testical with a rusty razor than leave the Newcastle money, especially with him doing a decent enough job there. Who else is there? Lampard, Will Still? No way. The FA would be stupid to sack Southgate no matter how much England complain, if England win the Euros you lot will be too drunk to complain anyway.
