What year is your vehicle? I have a 2013 AWD model and I was told I needed a special computer and a battery charger to disable the parking brake but it doesn't seem like you needed to use anything.

you will need the computer only if the parking brake is fitted on the brake pads which you are about to change. If the parking brake is linked to the big brake pad you cannot push the pistons manually. Most VW touaregs from 2012 and 2013 are exactly like the one in the video so 80% you can change the pads like in the video

Is it still under the diesel gate warranty? If yes take it to the dealer. I just had the same issue. Half of the exhaust système and adblue system was replaced. $5000 bill, luckly paid by the diesel gate warranty
