The cider onion soup sounded and looked absolutely fabulous, perfect for a bit chilly autumn day. As for the fish and chips, I can't judge it, as I am allergic against fish. But it sounded very good. Worth the price, I would say yeah, without a shadow of a doubt, as after Gary did Jamie Oliver's new restaurant in London and my wife and went there, andit was really good and I was really surprised, with a bottle of wine between us and a port with the dessert, I was happy to pay the price.

Well yes, Dublin is pricy, it always was... the wine looks so good 😂 I would have prefered this as my soup 😊😊😊 we can buy these chips at our supermarkets, they are callled chippers 😂
@johnwelsh87373 сағат бұрын
I think the fish was standing on its edge, to stop the batter on the flat part of the fish going soggy, the heat causes steam and softens the batter. similar to when you put toast in a toast rack. 😊

Before I noticed the chips in the bucket on right of screen, I thought it was actually being propped up by a pile of chips 😀Despite my advancing years, I've never had Hake before.........since watching this, have added to my bucket list. Eliminate risk and maximize profit, that is how business is done if you want to stay in the game for a long time (and as everyone who joins the business is aware of ). Nothing wrong with that, it creates many jobs, and puts food on the table for many families during the run. And a lot of tax revenue for the state.

That fish looked amazing. I was in Dublin 19 years ago, but for a stag weekend so it was only a lot of Guinness, magners and kebabs. My family are going through insolvency . It's not easy. Economics of the UK in the retail industry is so bad now. It may be the end of high streets as we knew them over the next few years. It's not done on purpose. If it's a limited company then the owners are not affected.

Can't really compute paying £33 pp for onion soup, fish & chips with a bit of supermarket wine for lunch ... I would estimate this would be £45 pp if it were in Z1 London. Madness, but I guess 'dumb money' tourists from the Far east will pay for instagram feels, and people on business can expense it on work credit cards ...
@GreenoEatsСағат бұрын
I reckon if you went to the local Brewers Fayre or similar, had soup, fish and chips and a glass of wine it would be about £25 - so for an extra £8 I got to sit in a beautiful restaurant, with freshly cooked food. I'll take that!
@ThreeFiddy170124 минут бұрын
@ You are right about far worse places that charge nearly as much or even more. I have no issue with interesting or expensive food being sampled and showcased for youtube entertainment, but in context of the average person to have a casual sit down fish and chip lunch that costs nearly 3 x the hourly minimum wage per person is somewhat decadent. If you took a partner or family, the bill goes well into the £100's for somewhat modest fare ... I was looking at Garyeats recent 'lunch' where it cost him £60+ for a crab meat spaghetti mains, with a 'cheese on toast' starter which is shocking as the vast majority of ingredients are carbs and a bit of dairy, the mark up is astronomical these days.
