I finally got around to reviewing one of my favourite cheap cars in the world! It's my Mitsubishi Shogun Sport 3.0 V6 automatic from 2005. I bought it for £2000 at the end of 2021 and have fallen in love with it ever since! If you are thinking of buying a Shogun Sport please feel free to ask any questions.

Got mine brand new in 2001 with 2wd and after 22 years of owning it, I am still in love with it. It has the unique shape and 2 tone color and solid feel that is lacking in new SUVs with more plastic on body and bumpers. The V6 engine sounds way smoother than a 4 cylinder and that sound of the engine is what makes it special to me.

I bought one like this,new,in 2003(the finall year of Pajero/Shogun Sport sales in Israel)-like yours,mine is also a 3litre V6 petrol.I held it till 12/2011.I was 'in the market' for the 'bigger boys'-Shogun/Landcruiser/Trooper..so while i'm in Mitsubishi showroom,i notice the sport(only seen 1or 2 on the roads-police4×4's)-I immidiately thought-"hey,this looks like a Mitsubishi respond to late 90's Toyota4Runner..and it costs here about a 1/3less than the 'big' Shogun..it also suits my needs..

I know what you mean. I brought a 2005 nativa sport. Same thing as montero sport/pajero sport/shogun. Petro. Had it shipped from kuwait to here in poland. Really stands out. When done here I'll be taken it back with me to USA.

I have my year 2000 Pajero Sport V6 3.0 4x2 AT since 2019, and it's the best car I've ever Had. I never got serious issues, it's the most reliable car on all the cars I actually have. The only negative point is the fuel consumption on city traffic.

I feel this way about my 2003 Honda CRV 2 litre petrol. It drinks fuel like no one's business, (Probably not as bad as yours) its rusty as hell, and the last time i took it to the mechanics he told me to get rid of it! The thing is, its ultra reliable, comfortable to drive and I've taken the seats out the back to use for sleeping in. The great thing about vehicles like this is that you can use and abuse them, scratch them up against spikey hedges, not bother washing them, take them off road and get covered in mud, and not worry too much about fuel consumption as they don't go wrong

I have a 2004 version called a Challenger here in Australia and I love mine. If your tyres ae sliding like that then replace them they are to old an the rubber has gone hard giving no traction in the wet. Yes they are underpowered and use lots of fuel but it is comfortable to me and it's a keeper. The 1st thing I did was put new tyres on as they were old and had no grip in the wet plus has cracks in the sidewalls. It came with a 2inch lift and I've put larger tyres a bullbar and a winch with new LED driving lights. I've also installed an auto trans cooler and underbody bash plates to protect the engine off road. Next to come is a locker for the front diff and a snorkel so I can cross rivers and creeks

Yours sounds like a beast! I’ll get new tyres for mine and see if it makes any difference but I do love how much it wants to slide 🤣
@FlatBrokeAdventures

@@RobBeveridgeCars my tyres were about 8 or 9 years old and I went sideways going through a roundabout with my mother in law in the car. When I was showing it off to a mechanic friend he looked at the tyres and saw that they were perished and had small cracks going around the sidewalls. I bought some Hancook AT's and now I don't have that problem. When you try to put your fingernail or thumb nail into the tread of the tyre it should be soft not hard, these were hard. Now 3 years on with the new tyres and about 20000ks not 1 issue. Maybe if I wanted to spin them in the wet I might be able to on a slippery road.

Ive owned mine now for just over a year as well.. im in the same frame of mind as you, everytime i sit and think about the truck i just want to sell it.. expensive to run,tax and ive just spent £1300 getting it through an mot😂🤦‍♂️. Yet everytime i get in it and drive it i cant part from it. When its in 2wd its shite but stick it in 4wd HI and the thing goes where its pointing.

I have one just like this what do you mean it's not fast? The V6 will do 0 to to 60 in about 10 seconds which fast for a 4x4 that weighs just over 2 tons
@RobBeveridgeCars
@RobBeveridgeCars 5 ай бұрын
The 0-60 on paper is 14 seconds and it weighs 1.8 ton, compared to other cars they are slow! I have a Touareg v6 the same age, it’s much faster and feels 10 years newer, but like I said I love my shogun 🤣
@jonathondeeds3423
@jonathondeeds3423 5 ай бұрын
The Touareg can't compare to the Shogun off road and I doubt yours is running well if it's slow, when I bout mine it was super slow with no engine lights on but I cleaned the airflow meter, injectors, plug leads and lambda sensors and now it flies. 0 to 60 on mine is around 9 seconds consistently, I suggest you check yours over.

You can use 4H on the road!! It's the locked diff modes that cannot .. hence why they are more difficult to access on the 'stick'. You can move between 2H and 4H freely whilst vehicle in motion; you are meant to be able to switch between 2H and 4H on road. The diff settings are the ones to be careful of and only use off road... hence why they are more difficult to access on the 'stick".. and should only be clicked into once the vehicle is stationary and in neutral. Go 4H Go .. On Road On Road On Road.

Wrong wrong wrong, do not follow this advice you will break your gearbox. The gearbox you are talking about is the super select found in the old pajeros, the sport doesn't have this and the centre diff it always locked when in 4wd. 2wd only on the road, 4wd off road.

@@symonatkinson8535 Ahhhh.. OK.. my mistake! Sorry! It is actually a 1994 Shogun glx I have (3.0 v6 petrol - also running lpg).. almost same as the Pajero's of that era (excepting even more capable).. I somehow imagined would be built upon same principles as yours.. had not occurred to me your model could be completely different!
