Batman: Arkham is a series of action-adventure video games based on the DC Comics character Batman, developed by Rocksteady Studios and WB Games Montréal, and published originally by Eidos Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The franchise consists of four main installments and an upcoming spin-off, along with four smaller titles for mobile devices, a virtual reality game, and tie-in comic books and an animated film. The continuity established by the games is often referred to as the Arkhamverse, and is part of the larger DC Multiverse.
Eidos had obtained the rights to make a Batman game from Warner Bros. in early 2007 and approached Rocksteady. The first two games in the series, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, were written by veteran Batman writer Paul Dini and featured voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their roles as Batman and the Joker, respectively, from the DC Animated Universe (DCAU). Conroy and Hamill returned to voice their characters in the fourth main installment of the series, Batman: Arkham Knight. Additional voice actors who reprised their characters from the DCAU include Arleen Sorkin as Harley Quinn in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Robert Costanzo and CCH Pounder as Harvey Bullock and Amanda Waller in Batman: Arkham Origins, respectively.
The main games in the Batman: Arkham series have been met with positive commercial success and critical acclaim, with praise for their narratives, voice acting, world design, graphics, and gameplay. The games have collectively sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
he series has received widespread critical acclaim and commercial success, achieving lifetime international sales of 30+ million copies worldwide and high scores from critics and gamers. Arkham Asylum sold more than 9.4 million copies and held the Guinness World Record for Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever based on an average Metacritic score of 91.67, but was replaced by its sequel Arkham City in 2011. The game was praised as reaching to a darker side of Batman not seen in video games before. It was also acclaimed for its polished combat and stealth gameplay, as well as selection of gadgets at Batman's disposal and the extensive comic book lore and easter eggs planted all over the map of Arkham Asylum. Arkham Asylum also received positive feedback for its choice in voice actors, such as Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy as The Joker and Batman, respectively. The Guardian included the game on its list of the 50 best videogames of the 21st century.
Arkham City has received the highest critical acclaim of the series, sold over 14 million copies worldwide and won multiple awards, and is considered the greatest comic book video game of all time. It was heralded as taking the already innovative and intricate gameplay of its predecessor and largely expanding on it, as well as opening gameplay to a larger, greater detailed and intricate map. Hamill's return as a sick and dying Joker was very well taken by fans and critics alike, as well as the addition of other villains and heroes such as Robin, Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Calendar Man, and The Penguin. Arkham City currently holds Guinness World Record for Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever with the average GameRankings score of 95.94%. Metacritic put the game among the best videogames of the decade 2010-2019.
Welcome to the Batman Arkham Series Critique where I reviewed every batman arkham game. Included in this video is a batman arkham city review, batman arkham asylum review, batman arkham origins review, and a batman arkham knight review, including a which batman arkham game is the best video to cap the compilation off. I recently played Arkham Asylum, and I really loved the horror and grungness in the game. to me, the game was mature and brutal, also true version of Batman TAS. even the voice actors were same. after the first game, Rocksteady made good sequels(City, Knight) but I felt that the color that Arkham Asylum was holding is gone. but I enjoyed the games with no complain anyway. the video said we don't need another Batman Arkham games but I have to dissagree on that. the game series finished too quickly. in these days, the video game graphics are becoming more realistic and could do what some games couldn't do back in the old days. I'm sure that Arkham series must have some kind of these. That Boy Aqua said, he'd rather Arkham game die as a hero but we have a good example that Resident Evill keep doing their best in these days. Resident Evill series has more games than Arkham, and have some flaw in the series of course but after RE 7, everyting they making are good now(RE 2 Remake, RE Village, RE 4 would be best for sure) it is about how to learn mistakes from the last, think about what fans would love to see and Capcom did the good job. I'm sure that Rocksteady could do it. because they understand Batman incredebley, also they left the legacy and blueprints .

I've just got the game and I'm almost done with NG+ I always got the feeling that he was less confident in himself Almost everything he has down to his gadgets seem to overcompensate for something and that something would be his lack of confidence His heavily armoured suit his ready stance his gadgets that make it possible to complete a predator encounter with a minimal amount of on foot encounters and even his demeanor he's so angry and loud it's like he's trying to be scary But as time goes on he gets more confident He wears less armour he drops his stance his gadgets aren't designed to minimise enemy interaction and most importantly he's way calmer because everyone is already extremely scared of him he doesn't need to be loud and violent simply his gaze is enough to make most of his rogues gallery shit bricks

Earlier this year I made the decision to play the trilogy again chronologically when I'd get the time. I finished Asylum and City again and was eventually gonna get to Knight but news of Kevin Conroy's death made me install Knight immediately. Thank you for being brave enough to say it, but Knight really is the best game in the series. The most refined, has the most content, the best pacing, the best designed world and it has some of Mr. Conroy's best voice work out of all the times he's been this character, in any medium. It is, in my honest view the greatest superhero game ever made.
@aninfinitemindofmusicandreams
@aninfinitemindofmusicandreams Жыл бұрын
@Blunderbuss I just finished this run of Knight an hour back. You'd get no disagreements from me that boss fights were better in City and Origins back in 2015 when I first played it and you'll still get no disagreements now. This game needed a proper 1v1 hand to hand boss fight with Jason Todd. However, and this will sound strange to many, I don't mind the batmobile sections and bosses in the game. The Cloudburst fight I actually quite like because it's intense. The excavator fight is more like a setpiece chase than an actual boss fight but it's alright. What it lacks in proper boss fights in the main missions it makes up for in the general combat mostly. It's incredibly satisfying to fight hordes of enemies with Batman's expanded combat repertoire, go without getting hit and then ending the last enemy with a cool finisher. But it was definitely a missed opportunity to not have proper on foot boss fights against the Arkham Knight and Deathstroke. And in many ways, I think the last portion of the main story feels weaker than the beginning and middle. Asylum and City had overall better stories but if you choose to rank all three as a cohesive whole I think Knight's story is a great ending for the Asylum series barring some of the weaker moments. Beautiful ending, especially. Now it feels like an incredible send off for Kevin Conroy. The game did at least have some boss fights in the side missions and with the DLC and I think it has the strongest side content out of all the games along with the best designed world, but it definitely misses the mark on some things. Still my favorite overall.

Best pacing, excuse me? The game's main story constantly interrupts you with those awful fucking "Look at us do the joker thing, you like the joker, right?" scripted, unskippable segments, not to mention how tedious the bat tank gets(and i enjoy the gameplay aspect of it). The game could have used less tank sections but those sections don't automatically put the game down.

The reason why Hugo didn't execute Bruce is because he wanted Bruce to see Arkham City first and Protocol Ten first-hand. He thought he was better than The Batman in cleaning up the streets of Gotham. And as for why he doesn't do anything with the knowledge that Bruce Wayne is Batman, it because he did. He sold the information to the highest bidder as stated in one of the Arkham City stories you unlock through Riddler. That's why Ra's al Ghul gave him the power that he has. He bought the info from Hugo to see if he could surpass Batman.

Many people can agree that Origins was a good game. I also liked how Rocksteady made the game cannon in Arkham Knight. I don’t count Origins Blackgate as a cannon game. When it comes to the main 4 game they all are great games in there own way. Asylum had the vibe of combining Dark Knight mixed with The Animated Series. City was the mastering of the combat that Asylum couldn’t master. Origins was just more Arkham City like combat with the detective element. Knight for the amazing side missions and making such a great conclusion to a great series. These 4 games define how to make a great Superhero game series.

Actually I think the fact the armour in origins was the reason the grapple boost is used. He remove it and need it to be redesigned because he went for lighter faster armour. As said before origins armour was more heavy able to help Bruce withstand the g force

Fun Fact: Harley does indeed have superhuman abilities thanks to a toxin antidote given to her by Poison Ivy early on after her comics debut. While they aren't on the level of say, Bane, they do allow her to perform physical feats (like her jumps in the AK DLC) and make her immune to Joker Venom.

I haven't played one in a bit, but that's because I've already 100% every game and there isn't much more to do in them for me. The series is the definitive definition of what Batman should be and brings the comics to life better than any Batman movie ever has.

My only complaint about Batman himself in these games is that he’s a little too much of a dick (no pun intended) to the Bat-family and is uncharacteristically stubborn in my opinion. I know he’s trying to protect them by keeping them away from the threat, but even in the comics he acknowledges he needs them more times than not

About the way Batman defeats Joker at the end of Arkham Knight.... The way I understood it was that Crane's toxin actually worked; Batman did in fact become the Joker due to the fear toxin. What followed was that Crane then juiced Bat-Joker with the same Fear Toxin, which then fulfilled Bat-Joker's greatest fear: being forgotten. I think this is what the writers intended to portray here, but I must admit it comes off poorly.
@jadonroy8139
@jadonroy8139 Жыл бұрын
This is actually really interesting because you then get to play as joker from his perspective which I think further proves this is true. Because his toxin worked, Batman turned into joker and then joker faced his fear of being forgotten. So in both cases it seems like his toxin worked.

I'm so happy someone else shares my love for Arkham Knight. I was 4 when Arkham Asylum came out and it was one of the first games I ever played. As a kid when I played Asylum, City, and origins all I remember wanting to do was drive the batmobile. Arkham Knight not only does that but it's the only Arkham game that makes me FEEL like the batman. Rocksteady put so much thought and detail that I still discover new things sometimes. Every Arkham game is special for it's own reason.

The only problem with all of the Arkham games is with the greatest hits versions of the games. I have a friend that hooked his PlayStation up to a computer, and it recorded the gameplay and input from the controller as well. What he discovered was that the controller Buttons were shut off for a few seconds at key moments in battle. He tried it with multiple controllers, and it was the same every time. Meaning there is a cheat algorithm in play. The triangle button was the primary cheat algorithm that was disconnected when fighting more than four enemies. It would shut off input from the triangle button just long enough for the enemy to pretty much beat you. Something I noticed during gameplay when I hit that button and nothing happened. These cheat algorithms are only in the greatest hits versions of the game. I played Arkham city the regular version and beat it. Then I played Arkham city greatest hits and shattered the disk on my wall. Video games are supposed to be entertaining and fun. When they are annoying and enraging, it defeats the entire purpose of its existence.

One of my favorite and most hated missions in Arkham City was and still is the Catwoman stealth mission vs Twoface in the museum. I hated it because it took me more tries to complete then I care to admit but at the same time when I finally did complete it it felt like I had the mission down to a science and was very satisfying to pull off. It is one of the missions that really shows you the limited options Catwoman as in stealth when compared to Batman.

Also there is a reason why Strange didn't kill Bruce immediately. As you know the whole plan was being masterminded by Ra's. Ra's wanted Batman to join him this is made really clear. To quote Talia "Our father always intended for us to be together to command his army" To quote Ra's "Kill me replace me as the head of the demon it is your destiny" and "You will kill me, you will lead the league of assassins" Also It was heavily implied that Ra's is the reason Hugo Strange knows Batman is Bruce.

The thing about City (and Hugo Strange) that worked for me was how collecting the riddles unlocked the backstory, Strange was everywhere. And I thought that he tried to keep Batman in Arkham City to keep him out of trouble (at least keep an eye on him ) and sent Deadshot to try to keep him occupied.

One thing I do like in the origins Wayne training mission is that it takes place on the Korean Peninsula, and my wife (who is Korean American) perked up when they started speaking Korean in game. This is somewhat brought down by the Japanese names used for the titles of the maps and the clearly Samurai inspired armor pieces, but hey, the written Hangul and spoken Korean was nice to see all the same.

3:17:44 I disagree. I think the decision to turn himself in is a direct result of seeing how his failure to protect Jason manifested into the Arkham knight. The fear of losing Jim and/or another Robin or Barbra to another villain makes Batman's choice to give himself in the only real option, given what's on the line. Sure, you can argue that he could have devised some plan to save the three of them and take out Scarecrow, but in his current state the risks are too high to take a chance. Great Video btw!

Hugo's plotline in Arkham City made more sense to me when I learned about his story in the comics. Hugo Strange is obsessed about Batman, he admires Batman's psique, a man who dresses up as a bat and fights crime, to a point where he dresses up as Batman. Makes sense he wouldn't just kill him, i guess he wants to study him or something while he's in Arkham City.

Something I’ve NEVER seen talked about personally at least is anyone talking about the small detail that Origins is the only game where Batman is in a fighting stance. In the main trilogy, he stands in a stoic and confident way but in Origins he’s in a fighting stance. To me that shows the young, angry, looking for a fight Batman that Origins was trying to portray and idk I just love seeing a younger Batman learning to be a hero rather than an angry vigilante

Add a few new areas, arkham origins batman voice actor, all the villains we've seen so far, the batcave and both the batmobile and batwing as drivable vehicles. But have them both as drive only, no tank gameplay. I think it would be the ultimate batman experience
