@Eric & Darrell I was able to view the home I grew up in until age 6, from 2,000 miles away via the internet. The house had been sold/resold, and there were LOTS of pics (from real estate sites) inside & outside the house. It was bizarre, it's the first time I laid eyes on the inside of that house in decades!

5 years ago, I bought my childhood home from the previous owners. There was still a lot of old features as there was in the 80s. The same phone has still hanging on the wall. Why they kept it there all those years is beyond me. But, every single day I have a flood of memories. I’m so glad that you were able to experience this. So happy for you.

Born in '72 and this is so cool to see how we all used to be! Life is so much more complicated now than it ever was then... Being so connected to everything and everyone all the time kinda sucks. I am writing this at midnight where I live because I cannot get back to sleep after some jackass from work called me on my cell phone to look at something on the computer connected via the internet from home... none of that would have happened back then, and I'd be getting a peaceful night sleep. Miss the old ways more than ever lately.

I revisited my childhood home 20 years ago. Lived there for 13 years from '75 to '88, left when I was 18. I didn't even recognize the place it had all changed inside and out. Had so many happy memories there. I made a games room in the front room complete with a 5 foot pool table and games consoles and had many friends around. I became an Amiga gamer not long after leaving. Even with that we were still very active and went out a lot. I've tried contacting my old friends but they are all settled down and not really interested in revisiting their past and some of them live in other countries or too far from me. I've hardly changed except I have my own place now and still game a lot. Nice to see friendships like yours still lasting this long and able to share together the memories you have from those times.

I'm glad my parents are still living in their same house since 1993. I still occasionally visit them since I am about 30 minutes away from them. They used to live in a double wide mobile home in the mid 70s until 1993, and it is still there to this day right next door to them.

Eric and Darrell I love what you do! My brothers and I had to sell the family house last year after my dad passed away. Thankfully, I got the opportunity to move back in with my dad to take care of him for his final years. We were able to bond and make additional memories in the home. The day that I moved out, I walked the entire house and property and filmed my final walk through. I swear I could hear my mom’s voice yelling “dinner!!” from the kitchen. I could see family members gathered in the living room watching football on thanksgiving. I could visualize my dad working at his tool bench in the basement. Whether big events or small moments, every room had so many memories attached to them. And I took them all in on my final walk through that home. That’s when I realized exactly what you said in the final line of this video “Home isn’t a physical place, home are the memories you keep inside “. Thank you again for the reminder!

The house I grew up in (1970s/80s) was on a street with about 20 homes in total. Probably 15-20 years ago, even though the house was still in good condition, it was demolished, and a new home was built for cognitively disabled adults. I'm happy they have a nice place to live, but it's very sad that I'm unable to see my old home anymore. Every other home on the street is still there. They were probably built in the 1940s-50s era. I will just have to keep the memories.❤

Now the house was divided In 4 units , 3 of the unit is Airbnb, the original swimming pool is fill in with cement , all the landscaping that we put in is gone, the metal shed is gone. A Asian own the house and the whole town is all Asian. My mother bought the house in 1965 and i was born in 1970, in 1971, we add the room upstair above the garage for my grandmother and we moved out in 1979 after my folks got divorce, after all this years the house had 11 different owners

Awesome! I moved away from Michigan in 1980. We moved when I was 9. I never thought I would end up back in Michigan but in June 2022 my wife and kids moved to Michigan from Florida. This summer the kids want to see my childhood home. Hopefully I will have the same kind of luck with some nice owners and I’ll be able to go inside. In July 2022 I did drive by it with my brother. The “old man” that lived next door is still there! Keep in mind in 1980 me being 9 years old anyone over the age of 20 was old. The old guy that lives next door is now 93 years old. Anyway, hope to get lucky and go inside my old house.

One time when driving by, there were workers out & we asked if we could go in & look around (the owner was working too, so okay). Wow! What a blast from the past! So many great memories came rushing back. Got to see my old bedroom, look out my sister's br window. The views changed a little but was still so nostalgic! It was updated to the 21st century. But I will always remember it how it looked in the 70-'s/80's. I took a picture just like one my mom had taken of my sister & I back in around '81.

My mother stayed terrified that we were gonna fall onto the furnace while it was on when we were kids. My brother fell, fortunately when it was off, but it took a chunk out of his knee and I remember we picked his skin off the furnace and you could see leg hair in the chunk. Ewww. It was awful. I used to stand over the furnace with a foot on each side like doing a split to warm up. Mom hated when I did that.

I haven't been able to revisit my childhood home aside from doing occasional drive by's. The house I was able to revisit at least virtually was my grandparents home. My grandfather sold it in 1984 when I was 18 and it had been owned by the same person until 2018. My grandparents had it built for them about 1957. I noticed in October of 2018 there was an estate sale there. I wasn't able to go as I was going to be 1500 miles away but my brother, cousin and aunt and uncle all went and my brother took video of walking through the house. It was almost exactly the same 30+ years later right down to the wood stove that my uncle made my grandparents in the 70s still sitting in the living room. A couple months later I saw it was for sale and again my schedule wouldn't allow me the time to go see it in person but I saved every picture that was part of the online listing. At that point the wood stove was gone, sold in the estate sale, but the house was really untouched for all those years. There were so many memories of huge family Thanksgivings and Christmases there that came back seeing those rooms again.
