The Avar culture is probably the closest thing to the descendants of Attila the Hun, but they usually get wiped out immediately by the Hungarian invasion - it would be cool if you could revive the Hunnic Empire
@flotnar2512 Жыл бұрын
Yo I actually played as a random character once. Got an Avar count. Had to migrate and flee north when the Hungarians came as we had no hope in fighting them but I built up and claimed Hungary. Damn fun game. Definitely recommend going random.
@wallyvargas-rios9305 Жыл бұрын
Strictly speaking, the Pannonian Avars were more likely direct descendants of the ruling class of the later Rouran Khaganate, controlling Mongolia over the 4th to 6th centuries. They were exiled to Pannonia with the rise of the Ashina clan (themselves exiled to Khazaria by 867). Bringing the Avars back to prominence would certainly be a feat in its own right, but when it comes to reviving the Huns, other Oghur Turkic peoples might be closer. In particular, I would have to point to the Bolghars and, by extension, the Chuvash who are their surviving descendants today. The Dulo family who rules over them in Volga-Bulgaria claimed to descend from Attila personally, via his son Ernak. Said Dulos are also represented with the Balgarskos of Bulgaria and the Árpáds of Hungary as cadet branches in-game. In CK2, they even had a unique "Blood of Attila" bloodline to represent this legendary history. The reality of that connection is debatable at best, but it does make for good roleplay.

You should try to bring the Kushite religion to Egypt. Kushite is basically the Nubian flavored version of the old Egyptian faith and since the original isn't in the game this is the best we got. It's not exactly a dead faith in 867 but it's surrounded by a bunch of organized faiths so it tends to get wiped out quickly. I'm entirely unsure if it's still around in the 1066 start date.
@schad1738 Жыл бұрын
I tried that a while back and it was painful 😭 Early expansion was easy enough as long as I picked my battles, but eventually the Muslims and their 8000 man armies came from the north and it became a slog
@sanserof7 Жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I am doing right now. Reformed the Kushite religion as Nubia and trying to expand upwards eventually towards Egypt. Then I'll make a hybrid Egyptian-Nubian culture and put my capital in Cairo.

Kushiro exists back in Darfur, it is super annoying to expand from there because of the massive Nubian and Ethiopian blocks that form.especially with mods like More Interactive Vassals.

In the Kingdom of Kashmir year 867 there is a character in the Kings court who's name is Anangapida, last surviving member of House Karkota founded in 575. His Ancestors were the Emperors of Rajastan with his great-granfather Vajraditya being the last one. He has unpressed claims on the kingdom of Kashmir & Punjab. Just like the Pugyel dynasty with Tibet house Karkota could once again control the Empire of Rajastan. However Anangapida is unmarried at 79 years old with no kids so it would be a bit of a challenge.

A cool dynasty you could revive is in the daylam area under some duke in the 867 start date wich ruled the persian empire before the muslims invaded(cant remember the name)
@Sejara1528 Жыл бұрын
It's the House of Bavandid, cadet branch of Sassanid Dynasty. They are ruling some counties under the Hashimid Emirate (fun fact, it was the dynasty which Prophet Muhammad came from). I've played them. Pretty fun. Ruling Kingdom of Daylam as a Mazdayan Persian while under the Abbasids protection.

There are a lot of old dynasties in and around India, to put it lightly. The Tamil kings of South India (in particular, the Cheras, Cholas, and Pandyas, as well as the Ays of Venadu) come to mind, considering they're even playable in the timeframe of Imperator: Rome. The Hunas in Dadhipadra (under Rashtrakuta) are meant to represent the last remnants of the Hephthalite (or White Hun) Empire. The Zunbils are playable in Bost under the Saffarids. Speaking of, rare cultures and faiths like Saurism (in Multan) and Sedism (in Manipur) are all over place around here. There's even the last of the Later Guptas, if you go back to CK2 for the 769 start date, with Count Ramagupta of Mithila, under Bihar. Going to back to CK2 in general would really fit the theme of trying to bring back some old, great legacy. There's a lot of weirdness in the history files for that game, such as the rulers of Ragusa (in 769 and 867) being relatives of ancient Roman emperors like Antonius Pius, or people like King Arthur and Merlin showing up in southwest England if you go back far enough. And a lot of those characters with important bloodlines still show up in CK3 to a certain extent, they're just harder to find. But at least CK3 makes it easy to switch characters, since there are unlanded courtiers like Fu Murong in Tibet in 867 who represent the last of the old Xianbei. Or the Hadhabanids under the Abbasids who are the earliest recorded ancestors of the Ayyubids (including Saladin). There's even the Velas in Iberia who, as cousins to the prominent Jimenas in 1066, are kind of underrated for their role in Spanish history, especially as some of their later descendants (including Juan Ponce de León) would be instrumental in Spanish colonization of the Caribbean. That's just the tip of the iceberg, really. Clicking random family trees tends to reveal lots of seemingly random nobodies with family histories traced back 30 generations for one reason or another. Failing that, outside of randomized characters in places like Siberia or sub-Saharan Africa, there's a lot more characters and families with Wikipedia articles that Paradox simply didn't bother to show in-game.

@@SnapStrategypersonally I think the White Hun run (either via 769 mod or 867 start as the Hindu Saka count of dynasty Hunas) might be fun as the Saka culture is an Iranian one that might have some unique interplay with the Iranian Struggle in 867.

I would love to see you play as two dynasties in a video. You pick two at the beginning and switch between them as your rulers die. Relying on their heir to hold things together till you return. You could attempt to achieve some overarching shared objective between the two families. I know you get bombarded with ideas. Thought it might make for an interesting video tho

Idk if you know this, but you can get a claim on a county/duchy in your own kingdom and it will give you the right to take the land away without incurring tyranny. Highly recommend it, as it has saved me loads of trouble in the past. It's even easier for your council member to do it since it is already in your kingdom.

I feel guilty for asking, as I have watched a lot of your series, but sometimes things slip through the cracks. Have you ever done an Erik the Heathen run? You asked for dynasties/families once great, but made weak... Erik the Heathen in 1066 is one of the very last holdouts of the old-norse religion... and a direct descendant of Bjorn Ironside (and Ragnar Lothbrok). He is the duke of Uppland in Sweden, and a pagan vassal underneath a Christian king. I would love a series of the return to power of the old religion and old family in Scandinavia.
