I would’ve added more to Shadow’s backstory by incorporating Maria’s illness. This sickness doesn’t prevent her from living on Earth, but it is a deadly disease that will claim her life much sooner than others. Gerald realizes that Shadow’s power could be used to cure human diseases and potentially extend the human lifespan. He wants to use this power to save his granddaughter. However, Shadow's abilities are not stable enough for that purpose. Eventually, Gerald creates the Inhibitor Rings to stabilize Shadow’s power, enabling him to use his power safely. To ensure it’s safe for Maria, Gerald tests it on himself and finds that it works. G.U.N. is not pleased with what Gerald has done, and orders Shadow to be taken away (and we all know what happens next). The reason I introduced Maria’s sickness is that it adds more tragedy to Shadow's character, as he was originally created in the games to cure Maria. Additionally, having Gerald use this power on himself helps explain why he is 110 years old in the movie, as they do not clarify how that is possible (people who get to live that long usually aren't able to walk anymore). I also explain the origin of the Inhibitor Rings because general audiences would miss the significance of Shadow taking them off at the end without context.

In the movie after saying " not bad for 110" while pulling out and licking shadows quill which is heavily implied that's how he's not only still alive but spry and functioning ( I think there's a deleted scene that goes further into it also) While licking the quills is done for comedic effect it's also the robotniks' using their powers

Rockwell being an antagonist to Team Sonic was something I knew that the movie was missing as I felt that the Death of Walters was a bit too fast in my opinion, but I'm glad you kept him alive.

I loved all of this, but I I would do it like this: -I would keep Walters' death, because I think it gives the film the necessary seriousness & risks it needs. -It would make the super sonic vs super shadow fight relatively longer -I would have Gerald give his SA2 speech just before activating the cannon for the entire land to hear (he would have a loudspeaker that could be heard by the entire earth...I don't know, movie stuff)

I love how Rockwell has more to do, Escape from the City is in here, all while most parts of the movie are still there. Probably would've used that extra 20 minutes that the movie needed to go full circle. But maybe, just maybe, Rockwell will get a somewhat bigger role in the 4th movie when it eventually comes out, since in the Sonic 3 we got her character started and ended so abruptly.

It would’ve been cool if Tails and Maddie gifted sonic the soap shoes for his bearthday and I would add more lore to Shadow’s backstory, basically, Gerald makes a deal with Longclaw and tells her that he has good intentions, and that he wants to make the ultimate life form to guide, bring hope to humanity, and cure humanity, so he separated the master emeralds into the seven chaos and emeraldsand replicated their energy to make the chaos drives, also, in this movie, Maria sickness forbid her to leave the base, she suffered for the fragile sickness ever since she was born, so Gerald built this military base, which was also the space colony ark just not launch into space to stabilize Maria’s condition, he tried to use the chaos drives create The ultimate life form, but he ended up making the bio lizard, One of his failed experiments. Eventually meet black doom, and helps him by sending a meteorite containing the DNA of black arms, with that he created shadow, and the bond between shadow and Maria goes the exact same as the movie, but shadows powers were uncontrollable, so Gerald created, inhibitor rings to stabilize his power, in my version, Maria would want to travel the world and visit all kinds of places and that would make Shadow find what his purpose is. Also Gerald will actually have hair and a less bushy moustache in my, but he would shave it off after he goes to prison.

I think that’s the thing, there are different types of video game movies. The Mario Movie is great as a video game movie, but not much else. The sonic movies are great video game adaptations, but less in the form of being a “video game movie” (the third one does much better though). It needs to be a mix, like how Raimi’s Spiderman is. A movie that comic fans can watch and get a lot out of, but also non comic fans can watch it and get a lot out of it. And the Sonic movies have only been doing that better and better over time. So it makes sense why people are calling the third the best video game movie, or at least one of the best.

The only thing I'd add is the fact that while Knuckles is waiting for his chance to "break the glass", he sees Shadow and Shadow sees him. Shadow attempts to attack Knuckles and the 2 get into another fight that lasts longer, because Knuckles pulls out the flames of disaster mid-fight, (Gurdians at Heaven's Gate would also play when Knuckles pulls out the fire fists). Although Knuckles will still lose, He'd still have enough energy to rescue Team Sonic when G.U.N. captures them. Also, Shadow will say the D word to add another Shadow 05 reference, and Sonic and Shadow call each other "Faker".

I think this alternate idea version sounds great. Feels like a hypothetical counterpart to the Snyder cut of the Justice League movie, with a potential to be better in every way than the theatrical version. My favorite parts are having the city escape sequence with the GUN truck, as well as Shadow’s enhanced dialogue during the moon scene followed by the full version of Live and Learn playing

Imagine that the sacrifice of shadow can be do in a similar bittersweet ending, just like this movie directed by Gareth Edwards "The Creator", if you see it you can maybe understand this way to imagine this, his ending is so similar in three things. 1. When Joshua sends Alfie to earth to sacrifice himself in the Nomad is like when Maria sends Shadow to earth at the same time she sacrifices himself in the Ark. That tragic scene can appear in a flashback of the movie just when shadow is about to happen the third thing that i will tell you. 2. When the Nomad explodes and much people is celebrating his victory is like when the Ark disappears or explodes and all the world is celebrating of being saved by the two hedgehogs. 3. When Joshua and Maya hugs each other before they die, is like to imagine that in the moment that Shadow sacrifices to destroying Ark he is gotting a vision where he in the heaven maybe, shadow and Maria say their names and runs to hug each other and then the vision ends and then he destroyes the Ark and apparently he dies disappearing in the explosion. The Creator movie is in some way similar to the story of Shadow. You're right that maybe this version is better, i'm just saying this idea to maybe share some ideas. I would like this movie to be made again to be much longer than the second one because this theatrical version wasn't good for me for being very rushed. And just to conclude and i'm sorry but this is my realistic opinion, i would like someone else to voice Shadow because Keanu Reeves is to neutral, but for me is Robert Pattinson the best fit for Shadow for his sufferable lines in The Batman and Twilight. Ben Schwartz and Robert Pattinson are younger and more or less similar in some of his facial features, Keanu is 60 years old, he's to older for this voice acting and he's doubting if he's gonna make John Wick 5 because of his physical limitations. Keanu Reeves in my opinion can voice Mephiles, a very evil hedgehog or a Pokemon that is called Lucario for the voice i hear of him.

In the scene in the movie where Sonic gets disintegrated by the GUN Base force field, some shots highlight that his shoes don't disintegrate with him. I really thought they were going to have an excuse like a new device (SOAP Shoes) being created by tails to bypass the force field's effects or something

I have a rewrite: When Shadow attacks Tom (thinking it was Walters) The latter would not let go of the key, he would only stay close to Tom. Sonic and company see Tom's body, and Shadow threatens the family by ordering them to give him the key. To which Sonic, totally sad, would agree. But on the condition that he doesn't hurt his family, to which Shadow agrees. Sonic opens a ring to Green Hills and says goodbye to Tom with a hug, asking him to get well and saying: "I love you... dad...". After that, Maddie, Tails and Knuckles take Tom away, leaving Sonic and Shadow alone. He tells Sonic to keep his end of the deal, and give him the damn key. To which Sonic, seeing Shadow with anger, says: Very good, faker. Do you want the key?... Come get it! Dashing towards Shadow with Spin Dash, kicking them both out of Gun's barracks. Rockwell, upon learning that she was tricked, orders all units to capture the hedgehogs. Sonic and Shadow have their final battle, a race across London for control of the key, while they are pursued by Gun's forces (With City Escape in the background). The battle reaches its climax when they are both pursued by Gun's strongest vehicle, an armored truck.

I like the ending because I felt like the original movie didn’t have enough of that at the end but the rest I didn’t like as much because while still not an adaptation of SA2 it’s closer but doesn’t need to. The San Francisco stuff was already used in the first movie, and while it fits more for this one it’s inclusion was not needed. No offense but I think the original movie did the knuckles and sonic scene better because it showed knuckles’s growth as a brother to sonic so he didn’t fight which works better in my opinion. But I understand your passion to make a different version of the movie and still enjoyed it as its own thing. Good job dude, you should write the next sonic film

I guess I wanted a more emotional build up to Sonic almost killing Shadow, and felt that Knuckles anger and relearning the lesson of forgiveness added an extra later that drove the moral home. I would agree with you, but at the same time not. Knuckles just giving up the Master Emerald without fight feels very cheap. Being the guardian of the Master Emerald is his duty, and mission. And it was discarded in this movie as something not important. Also if he loves sonic as his brother, he should have fought even harder to keep him away from the Emerald. Using the Emerald for bad/irresponsibly already wiped two whole species off the map (the Owls, and the Echidnas) and caused countless catastrophies. Knuckles knew Sonic was at a bad place, and still let him leave with the geratest weapon in the universe. If they fought, it would have been meaningful. It would have ment that Knuckles is serious about protecting both Sonic, and the Emerald. It would have shown us that Knuckles can make the hard decision, and fight against his brother to protect/save him.

Remember if sonic didn’t take the emerald, the world would be destroyed. Yes he initially used it for revenge but he realized last minute that it wasn’t him and that is what I think knuckles knew would happen.

I really wish Sonic and Knuckles fought. That would have shown us that Knuckles would try to protect both Sonic and the Master Emerald from each other even if he had to make the hard decision. You're overseeing it too much. It's GREAT writing that they didn't fight because Knuckles standing on his/their truth and promise he made as a TEAM. A warrior as he is heavily shown to be shows us how he must carry his nobility and to not get sidetracked by the wrong. This shows us depth of his character, writing, and even how they come together as a team which you completely miss. I was hoping very much for this movie but i'm feel disappointed, Shadow is supossed to be created instead of came in a meteorite, Amy is supossed to be important here, Rouge could be entertained too, all the world had to see the threat video of the world destruction maded by the Professor Robotnik so that we can see how the world is now impactated and surprised for what is gonna do Shadow for vengeance, i wanted the Biolizard, i want the relation of Shadow and Maria wasn't different in this movie from the original stories, i wanted the scene where Shadow rememver the promise to Maria, i wanted Shadow doesn't sound old, Keanu Reeves wasn't a good choice to me because i wanted and i'm still want this actor, Robert Pattinson. It would have make a lot of sense if Maria have her illness to have a very comprehension for what is shadow suffering for her emotionally, the scene where Shadow is in the capsule because Maria is sending him to Earth and that's where she dies, the scene with Shadow and Maria could bee flashbacks like GOTG 3, and of course the ending of the movie would have been very emotional and bittersweet, similar to the ending of The Creator 2023 by Gareth Edwards. Exactly​, for now the full shorts movies of Proyect Shadow and Shadow and Sonic directed by Joao Felipe Santiago, are in some way better than the third movie i hope Joao make more full shorts movies about that Sonic Adventure 2 story, in those movies i can note a realistic humor in Shadow in the sadness, anger and frutrations. The Shadow in those movies sounds better than the official movie because it sounds younger and with a great serious attitude and dark, it didn't sound very neutral, like he's older or he smoked a lot. I guess the one who did those shorts is very smart.

One thing I would've added to Movie 3 is during the final battle,astrologists would find out that Sonic and Shadow are stopping the Eclipse Cannon and the news would report that "The only hope of preventing the Eclipse Cannon's destruction are two heroes that look like a cross between Super Saiyans and rejects from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse".I know that seems like a lame pop culture reference and while it's half of that,it would also make the entire Earth aware of Sonic and the other funny alien anthros so more humans would accept them as Earth residents and heroes and create conflict with G.U.N. or Rockwell for future installments if we can't have her be Rouge in disguise. And at the end of the movie where they're back at Green Hills,Sonic,Tails,and Knuckles would be helping around the town by stopping ducks from stealing bagels,saving people from falling off of ladders,I dunno doing what they can to make Green Hills a safer place by working together.I would also like there to be tourists at Green Hills and they would thank Team Sonic for saving the planet and this town during Movie 2(And one from Britian being mad at Knuckles for destroying their clock.),and then Sonic would say"We're not the only ones you should thank",remembering the sacrifice of Shadow and Robotnik.

That fact you mentioned is very true, i'm feel disappointed that the directors of this movie rushed the things, it turn the movie in a very simply story in what you can feel that shadow tragic past wasn't relevant and what he did for humanity because of Maria, i never expect or wanted the movie like this. Imagine that this movie would have ended in the same bittersweet way that the movie "The Creator" of Gareth Edwards has ended, was very emotional and made me tear a lot of times because of the final soundtrack, imagine that Shadow before aparrently dying in the sacrifice he's having a vision with Maria and when they seeing each other they are running to hug each other, then the vision ends and then the Ark disappears like a explosion just like Nomad in The Creator explodes, imagine that but of course with a bittersweet soundtrack too, some soundtrack similar to True Love by Hans Zimmer because that touch my heart and found a lot of feelings. I would like they choose another voice actor for Shadow too because in my opinion Keanu Reeves doesn't sound realistic or even very hurtful, my best opinion about who could do it better is the actor of The Batman and Twilight (Robert Pattinson). This movie was very mistaken, very rushed and ilogic, they had almlst three years to work in this and that's how they hurt us with all these fails, i hope with IA advances somethings can do possible to fix a lot of things or franchises like a type of correction or reboot of this third movie. Only if God wants.

Guys, I know it’s confusing why they said that Paramount butchered Shadow’s origin. And don’t get me wrong, I do disagree with what Alex said. But I know why he feels that way. In the games, Shadow was created by Gerald Robotnik using the DNA of Black Doom so he could cure his ailing granddaughter Maria Robotnik. Gerald creating Shadow in the first place was the catalyst for Shadow’s arc in its entirety and his bond with Maria amplified that. In Sonic the Hedgehog 3 however, it’s stated that he came down from a meteorite and G.U.N. began running tests on him led by the leading professor Gerald Robotnik. He then bonds with Maria and the two become inseparable. With those two in mind, yes, they are indeed very similar. The only difference is that Maria in the film isn’t ill and Shadow was not created by Gerald Robotnik. So, it’s likely that Alex came into this film expecting Shadow’s origin story to be at least faithful to his game counterpart albeit some minor differences. But with Maria’s illness removed and Shadow’s creation changed (2 very important parts of his story) it felt like a let down to them. Which led to Alex concluding that they ruined Shadow’s origin. But, in my perspective, the changes they’ve made aren’t important. What is important, is if it respects the original source material, (i.e. Shadow’s bond with Maria, Maria’s death, Gerald’s revenge plot against humanity and Shadow wanting to pursue vengeance so Maria’s death would be avenged). That’s what was shown in the film despite those changes in Shadow’s origin and it worked. It would have been disrespectful, if they chose to keep Maria alive, which is the whole point of Shadow’s character and story to begin with and made Gerald Eggman’s brother instead. That wouldn’t be who they are, as it deviates from the original story. But that didn’t happen, which is why I believe Paramount knew what they were doing.

Exactly, the movie was too rushed, it could have been more longer than the second one to be the most intriguest one, maybe with a duration like 2h with 30 min. My complaints are the two robotniks, much time to them, a lot of useless jokes and the dance of the robotniks and another one is that shadow story wasn't the same of Sonic Adventure 2, the voice of shadow in the movie i didn't like it in my opinion.
