You are so not stupid. If a mistake is made during a project, which every builder has done, you always use your brain and creativity to modify the error and that modification always works out to the better. Humility is one of your many attributes that makes a 76 year old woman look forward to watching a man build things. LOL. not what i would normally click on for sure. Your mellow personality and your obvious love for Kuiper and your far reaching talent and skillset, you even sew, makes me look foward to the next video. Plus I am catching up from past videos. 😊

You could look into an Expanding Foam Insolation Kit, 4lbs for $100, It needs to be 70 degrees but you could put a heater in that small area and it should work. Be a total problem solver. 🐾❤🐾

You sure do care about Kuiper. I know that feeling when the dog is gone from sight. It's a sick feeling in the pit of the stomach! Respect! I think now you should rigid foam the wall cavity, insulate and then put a vapor barrier, not house wrap, and then your wood wallcovering. It will prevent the condensation. Don't be so hard on yourself. Keep safe, healthy and moving forward. PS. You deserve way more subscribers! This is the best show on the Interwebs! And Ryobi should sponsor your videos!

Great stuff closed cell for all the edges and 2 inch foam board. Insulation and bug barrier. Or with your great expertise you could look in to getting a spray foam kit and DIY the crap out of it like everything else.

@Badgermilk-zc2wyАй бұрын
Great stuff big gap spray foam cans are cheap, closed cell with added structural rigidity, will insulate and create a vapor barrier. You just have to stack horizontal foam lines, it’s really sticky, and each row you spray will support the next one above. I’ve used this method, and it works great. Good luck!

My home, circa 1790 was built w exterior board on stud method. I read lots of suggestions to use foam... my peronal experience is, if u choose to use spray foam, carefully line the stud cavities w tar paper b4 spraying the foam. If you don't, you can forget being able to remove a siding board in one piece in the near future. Foam insultion board in stud cavity, 1/4" air space, then tekfoil using the tape to the interior of the stud cavity has worked as an alternate to spray foam.

Ryan, as an experienced dog owner, just want to let you know that it is never over worrying about your dog doing a runner, no matter how much you train him. It only takes one time for them to run after a critter of some sort, which I’m sure you have plenty where you are…and depending on the season, you will have to tie him up, simply for his own safety…and thus your peace of mind.

A Work/Cost Analysis appears to be in order. Listening to the extent of additional effort to overcome the house wrap issue... Limestone doesn't stay in the driveway. I bought "AA DRIVEWAY GRAVEL with fines." I had to have them drop it in place as they unloaded bcuz it locks in and doesn't want to grade into place. It's hard as concrete after you drive on it a few times. It doesn't shift. It does scrape off when plowing snow. Well worth the money and it was cheap when I did my long driveway back in 1994, has never washed out or rutted. Before I did it, our first year there, I sunk my 3/4 ton Chevy conversion van up to the axles. Had to cable out to the road to the tow truck to get it out. It's still in perfect shape.

Just a suggestion but I use to do a lot of caulking. What I always did before loading the caulking gun I would put the tube in my manual caulk gun before puncturing the tube and give it a good squeeze and that usually stops the mysterious runway caulking.

lots of comments on the house wrap solution but another issue on keeping the cabin warmer is to skirt all around the cabin and put plastic or tarp underneath the cabin for moisture, would save a lot of propane, in my opinion,enjoy your videos.

I've been wondering if an inside drape made from some super-heavy material - like an x-ray gown, or a magnet-style tent flap - rigged to always close after entering/exiting the new hole in the cabin? It might help to keep temps stable. So funny when you said skylight I had just been thinking the same thing. Only here!! Lol... As always, thanks for sharing!

It'll be alright Ryan. Add insulation and vapor barrier all around the inside of the walls and ceiling, then add some sort of interior wallboard or panels. I bought a yard shed and did this - works fine. But yeah...I sure tried to get your attention!
@muddy11111Ай бұрын
Not house wrap, you need a vapour barrier between the insulation and the internal boarding. Use polythene sheeting, or if your insulation has a foil back then foil tape the joints. Either way it stops the internal moisture getting into the wall. The outside timber will breath naturally. You will have no interstitial condensation, happy days.
@bobfloresАй бұрын
When you started with the tar I said, "he forgot the house wrap". How about spray foam on the inside. It will function as an air barrier. You could use it under the floor as well.

Next year you could spray thinned polyurethane of your choice, spar being the best for outdoor I assume. A bandage that would help somewhat. I think a good question is' if one is using green wood siding, wouldn't ship lap joints routed along mating edges prevent some leakage? Butt joints with uncured lumber not so good me thinks. Oh well. there's always roof cement companies that need to flourish.

I been watching videoes about a "Snowdogg" im thinking about getting one myself its like a mini snowmobile but you can use it year round you can sit or stand behind it on a sled or wheeled trailor its pretty amazing for you when felling trees it would be great dragging them out of tight places think has like 13 hp engine max speed maybe 20- 30 mph but good or fun to cruz around in winter or ice fishing Id say kind of family friendly and much cheaper then a snow mobile but looks like a lot of fun to year round and fairly fuel efficient maybe 50 miles on a tank of gas making trails moving things around like say an Ice fishing tent and can operate on fairly thin ice because its fairly light maybe 250 lbs. You can buy them or build them yourself tearing apart old snowmobiles so you could build one for less then $500 bucks if youve got the time and space and tools.
