Recommend considering a ramp instead of steps. Maybe like a chicken house ramp with boards perpendicular on top for grip. As large breed dogs age, steps are tough on hips, especially in icy conditions.

Hey Ryan, first thing in spring, please go around and get all those widow maker branches and half fallen trees taken care off Id think about maybe 2 12 volt inlet and a outlet exhaust fan in there for summer heat, arranged so the inlet fan blows across center of floor at level he would be laying down, something to think about, Or even a fantastic fan rv fan in roof would be cool, and it is kinda like a sky light also

I’d definitely have a wood stove and a cord or two split just as an emergency/ contingency plan option. Winters are no joke in the U.P. and can get bad enough where walking out to his car wouldn’t be an option for quite a while. I don’t even think he has snowshoes 🤔

I’d have to go with wood for primary heat source and propane backup but a log splitter would have to be a must. After all, he does have that overhead hoist that he built to take the load off his back, just thinking out loud. You are the boss Ryan👍🏻

Word on these frozen, Northern Michigan streets is that the Possum Lodge got internet. While I find it hard to believe, I am certain that neither Red, his bumbling nephew (no offense) nor any of the other fur, camo or plaid wearing gents would have any idea what to do with it. Thought all I’ve seen is static for 228 consecutive weeks, I’ll keep tuning in for an update. I’d like to think (and I’m sure nobody would protest) that the Red Green Show greatly impacted me as a youngster, when my brain was still cooling and solidifying. It’s a duct tape-wrapped shame that today’s youth won’t enjoy the same guidance. Yes, yes, they may still grow up to be handsome, but will they be handy? Only time will tell.
@RedGreenTV

@@survivingringworm2202 Well now, you heard right. The Lodge is finally hooked up to this here 'interweb' thing. Took a bit of tinkering, a whole lotta duct tape, and maybe a sacrifice to the cable gods, but we got 'er done. Now, we just gotta figure out how to use the dang thing without blowing a fuse or setting the place ablaze. Wish us luck!

You should consider getting a remnant of vinyl flooring for the dog house. The finishing would be cool, but dogs will be dogs and that means the floor is going to get nasty. Cleaning in that small space will be difficult at best. The vinyl floor could be damp mopped until it spring and then just torn out and replaced.

Man… You’ve gone and set up a crazy fun lifestyle. I suggest looking into one of those portable, inexpensive diesel heaters as backup for the propane heater. You could have heat in any structure you build when you need it there, and it’s dry heat. Good luck with the injured back. Thanks for the fun videos. There’re good reminders that trying is more important than getting it perfect. (Ryobi should sponsor you)

The plastic sheet or vapour barrier should be the other side of the insulation. Now the dew point is trapped between the insulation and the plastic. Resulting in trapping water with no where for it to go.

@jamesdriggers2011 that is what thrift store or Craigslist or trading posts are for. Plenty of cheap or free stuff people are offering just to get rid of it because they cannot find a use for it. I even save my plastic feedbags to use for vapor barriers on sheds and such. They are heavy duty with woven mesh and use tape to seal them. I try not to waste anything.They make good storage bags too, I turn them inside out for that to be sure no feed dust remains.
